This is a timely. I'm currently struggling with this for a wedding (Secular, Groom was raised Catholic, wedding outside the church) I'm invited to in October. I've already decided I'm not going to the ceremony for all of the reasons and then some you mentioned in this video. My question for you is about your thoughts on attending the reception? He's a childhood friend. It would be a good opportunity to catch up with his family and many other old friends I don't see regularly. However, receptions are celebrating the ceremony. I'm torn.
It is a tough situation indeed. I commend you for your courage to skip the ceremony. I do think that's the most important part to skip, but they are certainly related. I'd take it to prayer!
I attended a Jehovah's Witness wedding. I don't see a difference attending a gay wedding. For me, I don't have to agree to their belief, if we're close and I'm invited then sure. It's not easy for them to pick guests especially if it's intimate wedding where they really think who they want to be there.
