Mitch, good demo for basics, similar palette to mine but only one yellow and one blue and a red for me, also an orange, Indian red and veridian, sort of the primary and secondary palette with the Indian red being my "violet" which I mix with it and blue and white for distance features; not as "twee" (too pretty, LOL) as alizarin I find. I never pre-mix, not even in studio, too impatient I guess, also with a much much smaller palette of colors I don't really need to actually see and search for them since my hand automatically knows where to go without my looking for a certain yellow, for example, out of a "plethora" of them. LOL. It' s almost "creepy" as my hand just "takes over" when I paint sometimes, especially when painting outdoors, since speed is so much more important there, with no time to "fart around" with knife-mixing for example, or you'll lose your initial reason for choosing a certain scene. Actually, my hand seems to be like that one in the old horror movie, in the 50's, ("beast with five fingers" I think it was) of the cut-off hand that goes around choking people! Of course, I never do that, ..at least not yet!! LOL ;D Cheers from Oro Valley, with lots of nice places to paint; just speak to my hand!! LOL ;D
That's a great demo Mitch. That arrangement makes a lot of sense. Thank you so much for sharing that!
Glad you liked it!
@@TucsonArtAcademyOnline A question if I may? What is between the Alizarin and Vermilion, and is that Prussian blue on the far right?
@@61sgcust Transparent Oxide Red is between aliz crimson and viridian and only ultra marine blue - Prussian carries yellow in it.
Perfect! Just what I needed today! Thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome! Glad you found this helpful
