The English version is epic! The closed captions don’t always match the sung word, but that is a nitpick. I’ve been hoping an English version would come out. Google translate only works so well. ;) Thank you, Saltatio Mortis and Blind Guardian, for opening up a new world. Maybe we’ll get more?

The song is based on the world of the dark eye, which started in Germany shortly after the release of the first D&D. The Album even has a whole book about the story of the video by Bernhard Hennen in its limited edition. Plus a Solo adventure 😁

Bei den ganze Lobeshymen, muss ich sagen, das die deutsche Version kräftiger ist. Alea´s Stimme klingt im deutschen machtvoller und kämpferischer.

Die deutsche Version ist runder. Einige Passagen lassen sich eben nicht so gut 1:1 ins englische übersetzen. "Nacht" und "Wacht" reimt sich, "night" und "guard" dagegen überhaupt nicht. Das nimmt schon ein bisschen Kraft raus. Davon abgesehen ist es ihnen aber ziemlich gut gelungen, den Originaltext sinnvoll zu übersetzen.

Das Video gibt es jetzt in 3 Versionen, Finsterwacht der Deutsche Song, Finsterwacht Directors Cut als Quasi Erzählung und jetzt diese Epische Englische Version oben drauf. SaMo haben das echt Episch gerockt

Hansi klingt in English einfach nen Hauch besser als auf Deutsch. bei Alea ist es umgekehrt.😆
Aber eine mega Combo von Euch zusammen, da müssen wirklich mehr Songs her.
Denn Gesangtechnisch harmoniert es super und melodisch klingt es episch!
Video ist halt schon großes Kino, wenn LARP & Cosplay zusammentriffen. Respekt an alle die da vor und hinter der Kamera richtig was geleistet haben 👍!
Die Kampfchoreo ist gelungen, kann da den Commi auf english nicht verstehen, zumal zuerst die Musik passen sollte, der Rest ist ein Bonus.
Man kann ja nicht erwarten das alle erstmal ein Wochenlanges Training für Schwertkampf absolvieren für ein Video.
Kostüme sehen auch richtig Klasse aus von allen.
Wenn man etwas kritisieren möchte, wäre es vielleicht die Kameraführung bei den Kämpfen, da ein wenig zu hektisch, sodass man die Orcs (welche auch grandios aussehen 👍)
gar nicht richtig sehen kann. Das ist aber dann Kritik auf ganz hohem Level.
Achso, paar Bluteffekte wären sicher schick gewesen, gerade bei Luzi's Pfeiltreffer, aber es braucht ja noch minimal Luft nach oben fürs nächste Meisterwerk an Video 🤭.
Man merkt eure Leidenschaft und wieviel euch solche Songs etc. bedeuten einfach bei solchen Video's. War aber auch schon bei "Pray to the Hunter" und co. zu erkennen.

Durch das englische gibt es mir gegen ende irgendwie krasse manowar vibes was ein wenig nostalgie auslöst. @@waynenaylor7172 NOPE it's not D&D. It's The Dark Eye / Das Schwarze Auge completley different ruleset and world. Which was THE biggest TTRPG during the 80s till 2000s (before 5e hit the shelves) in Germany. The game kicked D&D kinda out of the window here in Germany (literally spoken. It was developed just to piss of TSR because the license fee was too high and the publisher was the biggest board game seller in Germany so the boxes (the rules and stuff were sold in boxes) were sold in every shop were you would find a boardgame. D&D on the other hand was only sold in Nerd Fantasy shops which not every city had). The World Aventuria is not as big as the Forgotten Realms (but bigger than the sword coast) but has a MUCH richer background and metaplot. Basically every major metaplot point is / was a published adventure. The history goes back 40 years by now (ingame and outgame) and if several NPCs were born and killed during that time :D
There exists an english translation of the rulebook and the setting for the 5th Edition of the rules (The Dark eye)

What a great song. The German version was already a masterpiece but imho it sounds even better in English.
Just a little detail I think could have been better in the introduction. Although it's just minor nitpicking on my part:

I think the term vigilant would have fit even better than 'just' ready.

Ich sitz hier, kurz nach 1 Uhr Nachts... schaue auf YT und BAM! Das hier draussen. Und ja, was will man sagen... das Selbe, wie im deutschen "Original" - einfach nur episch und verdammt gut umgesetzt.
Ich habe zu oft erlebt, dass Lieder, welche übersetzt worden sind (egal in welche Richtung) textlich überhaupt nicht gut gemacht worden sind. Schlicht, weil die Bedeutung sich komplett verändert hat.
Dass hier die Gefahr bestehen könnte... nö, ich war mir seit der ANündigung sicher "Jungs, das könnt ihr garantiert!" Und wurde nicht enttäuscht. Die Stärke im Refrain bleibt gleich, besonders beim großen Finale... ob deutsch, oder englisch... man hat einfach nur Bock zu explodieren und laut mitzusingen.
Großartig Jungs, geil gemacht!
Und nun.. wirds Pennen wieder schwerer trotz Schlafmangel. Das Lied ist bei mir absoluter Ohrwurm-Garant! :'D

I still prefer the German version, I love the way German sounds, but I acknowledge that the English one is more accessible to to wider audience and this masterpiece deserves it.
