This is why I always back into my spot. It’s much easier pulling out than backing out in any parking lot.😊

@@lynjameson1368 To answer this question: because when we pulled in there were quite literally only 4 people in the lot. Had no idea this place was gonna be a walmart on Black Friday when we returned. 😂 -J

I'm so happy you took us to Hatcher Pass. That spot is one of my favorite hikes. We used to go all the time. Pack a lunch & some drinks and leave society for a few.
Health prevents that now, so doing it with you guys was awesome. If I could still do it, to this very day I'd still be as excited as the first time. It's just breathtaking in Hatcher Pass!

0:18 - When you show the "colorful wildflowers" that's a deadly and poisonous flower called monkshood / wolfsbane. But yes, it is pretty and colourful.
Happy you had a great time hiking to Upper Reed Lakes. That boulder field can be sketchy and dangerous. And although you said it's like Lake Louise without the people, I bet it got "Alaska crowded" maybe four hours after you left. Sunny weather and clear skies brings all the locals outdoors in droves.

Joe so glad to see you adding the drone to your “filming arsenal”. The shots are great, just do not lose it. Very easy out there to let it get out of range of control.
Also think the motorcycle excursions are good addition to incorporate into your adventures. Can actually get a completely additional and different audience tuning in for the channel. Make sure to add that tag to the video. Good that you both are using DOT helmets to protect the vital parts.😂
    Catch you next week.👍🏻

Loving the drone. Made the mistake of flying it behind a ridge within the first week (back in March I think). Got the gray screen that can lead to brown pants. Thankfully she did what she was supposed to and started flying back. -J

We were in Palmer 5 years ago and I never knew about that hike. That was a gorgeous area you showed with all the waterfalls. I would have easily spent the day there just shooting the waterfalls. It looks like you finally had a great day with no issues except for getting out of that parking lot. Just remember, people are stupid and selfish and that is why that truck blocked you in. As always, I await next weeks video now that this one has ended.

Good episode guys! Last summer in our Brinkley I had installed a second 370-watt panel on our Brinkley Z. I had also put in a one-thousand-watt inverter with a dedicated plug run into the unit and we had two 100 ah Battleborn lithium batteries. Served us well. only ran the gen. a couple times. Since that trip I have added two batteries and a three-thousand-watt inverter that supplies a sub panel running most our outlets. We lived off grid on BLM land in an area near Senators Wash outside of Yuma for five months. Cost for seven months is 185 bucks. I also bought a new generator. A Max Peading 3500. it weighs the same as my 2200 and will run our air-conditioning. We only used it twice all winter. Safe travels- Burlington Bill busking on the road and here on you-tube.( last cover is a Tyler Childers song Lady May).

Palmers where we found our RV 6 volt batteries going bad on a friday afternoon. Called a Solar supplier in Anchorage and he said since I need 8 batteries he would come in on Sat. morning and help us out. Went in at 10 am and he helped me with 8 new T-105 RE's. Ran them six years and then when I found out the weight was causing issues with the front compartment I switched to Lithium.

Would backing in to park have made it better? It looked pretty tight. We try to back in when parking so it's easier to pull out. Epic views, you guys. So pretty!!

    • @OpenRoading
      @OpenRoading  5 дней назад

Many have chimed in to let me know I parked wrong. 😂
My defense has been there were 4 cars in the lot when we arrived and I had zero clue that place was going to be black friday at walmart when we got back.
I honestly don't know if backing in would hav helped. Because the other two cars were pretty close to me It was going to be a shimmy challenge no matter how I was parked. Even if I was backed in if I had just cranked the wheel I would have given someone a new racing stripe with my rear fender/bumper. -J

@OpenRoading I understand. I got stuck in a Hobby Lobby parking lot once. The spots were so tight that I couldn't back out because there was no room to maneuver. They parked after me. So I was stuck until one of them came out and left so I could back out. After that, I learned to park further out where I had more room and it was unlikely that I would get boxed in. I was driving our big pickup truck. 😛

@@OpenRoading no it didn’t come. Well the US mail is not that great in places. It happens. 🤪
You guys have made me sad I never went to Alaska when my dear friends lived there. But, I am doing it now and the cool thing is I can revisit them whenever I want.
Some of your videos are so touching that I watch them again. Some are so funny I have to go back for more chuckles.

I'm loving all the back in comments. 😂 Mainly because I usually do and was kicking myself this time around - BUT - in my defense there were a grand total of 4 people in this lot when we got there and I had zero inkling that it was going to be a walmart on Black Friday when we got back. lol -J
