Please, not another Buchla rabbit hole to disappear down. 😂 I’ve always wanted a Buchla, and this could be a good place to start seeing I have all the parts already in my inventory. Great video, but I may have to 'roll my own' panels and PCB's!
Huge props for anyone who can do Eurorack DIY… though technically you said this is 4U, but still, I thought doing 5U Oakley/MOTM was intense enough. Great job! Being UK-based , can’t believe you haven’t hooked up with Tony (Oakley). He does great work.
The CV input for pulse length seems like a particularly good feature. Trying to work out the simplest way to implement something similar in a DIY build. The schematic for the Buchla 140 looks totally bonkers to me, transistors everywhere and not a single op-amp or IC - I'm guessing it dates from a time before they were readily available. Thanks for this video, it's a really inspiring setup.
This is great , might order a ready made system off them. Shame they stopped making additional Modules in this format, are you also trying to source more modules in this format ?
They have quite a few LA67 100 series panels and PCBs at Modular Addict: modularaddict.com/shop-by-brand/la-sesenta-y-siete Unfortunately they’re sold out of a lot of the things I’d want if I was going to expand this system so I’ve given up on the idea for now.
@ i emailed them last week and they replied saying they only have ready built systems and maybe mid 2025 might have the diy back in (morts barge). I asked about the others and they said demand dropped off and are no longer selling them
Thanks! LA67 occasionally do a short run of the pre-built systems (most recent one was in March 2023 I think) so probably worth signing up the mailing list or dropping them a message to check if there's going to be another batch...
That’s a 4ms Pod with a few Eurorack modules which I’m just using as effects - Xaoc Samara, Pladask Dradd, Music Thing Spring, Blukac Endless Processor. There were a couple of touch keyboard clones from LA67 - the 112/114/116- they seem quite hard to find though. Krell - you can’t really do the classic patch with this selection of modules but you can get to some pretty weird places nonetheless!
nice video and great sounds, Tom have you ever checked if the envelope generator (180) is able to read pulses of two or three folowing steps, like let say step:1-2-3 or is it only every second step 1-3-5...?
Thanks! I might not be understanding your question correctly, but you could certainly stack the pulse outputs from the sequencer and connect (e.g.) steps 1, 2 and 3 together to the 180 input, if you just want to fire the envelope on those steps - is that what you mean?
@@TomChurchill yes that how it works, you can create the patterns that way, but for some reason in case of 123 and 180 it activates the envelopes only every second step 1-3-5... if for instance 1-2-4 is shorted it will activate only 1 and 4 (at least in my builds), that is why I wanted someone to confirm if that happens also in their buids
Unsure how I could have missed this one, didn't know this even existed and didn't know you share the Buchla passion so much you'd build it yourself.

Amazing sounds from a beautiful system. 😍
So good! Totally nailed that classic sound.
cool build...very pleasing tones and sequences. I also like the small dedicated fx case.
Very cool. Lovely build. Great video, thanks!

such an incredible looking instrument, great presentation! i think i need to build the 158 at least
Woohoo! Sounds great Tom!

great work, on both the build and the demo/explanation. Very powerful "little" box. Not sure if they make and sell these as completed builds any more?

Hi what’s the. Ox above the 100 ? Love the sounds

Nice!!!
You’re very tall.
All the better for tweaking those hard-to-reach knobs!
