      Vasy is going to beat all his milestones except maybe the 1000 games. But vasy wont need to play that many to beat his milestones either. Vasys already the fastest to 300 wins by a long shot. Already has 2 cups. And if healthy will play till hes at least 38. But he seems like the type that will play till hes 40. And he still might hit the 1000 games. He plays between 60-62 games a year usually. Even if that eventually slowed down to 40,i doubt it would go thast low,maybe 50 games,thats on track for 1000

    • @sheabrockhoff2279
      @sheabrockhoff2279 2 месяца назад

      @@Tampafan33 fleury had way more games than vasy does at his age. And fleury also started playing much earlier in age. Doing the math you have to play roughly 20 seasons of 50 games to get to 1000 and that is A LOT for a goaltender which is why only 4 have ever done it.

    It’s not impossible that some day we’ll see another 1000 game goalie, but certainly in today’s NHL we are getting less iron man #1 goalies and more tandems. Some day it may swing back the other way, but certainly a rarity now.
    In any case, saluting a great goalie and a great guy.

    • @reaganharder1480
      @reaganharder1480 2 месяца назад +1

      It's not just about iron man #1s. Hellebuyck pretty consistently plays over 60 games a year, which Flower only did in 8 seasons. But Fluery entered the league as a 19 year old and was a regular by 21, and will still be playing by 40. There's not many goalies who were good enough to be in the NHL by 21, and not many goalies will play regularly until they're 40. If we assume an average of 56 games played per year (pretty reasonable for a true #1, though as you said, plenty of teams don't have that), a goalie needs to play 18 years to reach 1,000, and yeah, not many goalies are gonna be able to hold a #1 role over that long a career. If Connor Hellebuyck doesn't slow down he could hit 1,000 games at 39 years old, but that would require him not slowing down all the way until 39 years old...

    Flower may be in the twilight of his career, but I’m thankful, as a Wild fan, he’s on our side now. His experience, I believe, has been invaluable to the Gus Bus, and even The Wall, and when he’s been in, he’s been vintage Flower. I’d really like to see him get to 1145, and I feel like the way our team has been playing, he can, if he gets enough starts.

    This is the only time we will see the fans of a team that is losing to an opposing goalie, cheer him and chant his name over and over again. While we were losing, and after we had lost, it continued.
    I’m sure I’m not the only fan that just knew we should not have let him go for a briefly hot young goalie. even though I understood the long term thought process, it was a mistake to give away the heart of our team.

    A true Ironman goalie who was one of the best ever…by the end of this season he’ll be #2 in games/starts barring injury

    I highly doubt he'll be the last to hit 1k. Somebody in the future will probably be there to surpass it. if both vasi and hellebuyck play 60 games on averge on the second half of their career they will both match it and if not them a different goalie in the future will
    Still incredibly happy for him ofc

    Bought tickets to the game. What a show. As a pens fan, and a fleury fan I was really torn. Wanted to cheer when the pens scored but it was flower! Ugh.
    Hindsight’s 20-20. But Flower really makes retaining Murray in the expansion look foolish. I said it then and I’ll say it now. We should have kept him.

      Same here. I did not want to seen him get beat up on in his last game here. I was okay if we won, but I didn’t want us to shut them out with a 6-0 score or something like that. Not that we were likely to get that by him! So though I want us to continue to win, I was not sad to see Fleury win for his last game home. I doubt you will ever see a team that just lost to a goalie, cheer him and chant his
      name. And in fact we were cheering him before the end of the game, while we were losing to him. For this rare circumstance, that’s as it should be. It’s wasn’t just how good he was, but how GREAT of a man he is. It crosses all team lines. Young players should learn from him. No one has ever wanted to see Fleury go. Letting him go was the biggest mistake we ever made. I understand that logically the younger super successful goalie was the long term choice, but it was too brief to know if it wasn’t a flash in the pan, and that’s what it turned out to be, very quickly. None of us wanted him to go.

      @@Seabreeezyfor sure. I just hope we’re lucky enough to have him retire as a Penguin. I don’t see him moving back, I read that he built his forever home in Vegas. But to have him come back to the Burgh for a retirement ceremony would be awesome.
