It literally learns leaf blade as nuzleaf.
@@calculus3661 not in gen 3 it had no grass moves
@@calculus3661 Not in Gen 3. Literally your only options are Bullet Seed, Giga Drain, and Solar Beam.
Fun fact: it is now untiered
Gas Knot was a brutally powerful move
My favorite memory of this thing was of a specific spot in the original Pokémon Ranger game that literally has nothing but Shiftry there. Trying to catch multiple of them at once is actually lowkey really challenging.
With the movepool it has, Shiftry can easily shift to whatever role is needed, and that's cool.
Mienshao is better at that role. It can threaten both Blissey and Salamence at the same time.
Blissey is threatened by Close Combat and Salamence by Hidden Power Ice.
Dude you hit the jackpot doing these videos you legit will never run out of Pokémon you can even redo them when new gens come out keep it up
I love shiftry's design! But apparently I'm the only one...:(
Shiftry's design is quite epic, but Hitmonlee's model in Pokemon Stadium is much cooler.
my favourite pokemon design alongside gourgeist and the fact the leaf fans on shiftry give it moves like heat wave, hurricane air slash and defog is such clever touches of detail :)
It’s feet are weird af
@@JoeBro915 it's based on tengu and the sandals they are often depicted in have that stilt in the middle
Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness made Shiftry be my favorite Dark type, so you're not the only one :)
I expected Shiftry to be a terrible pokemon, but this made me confortably surprised. Keep it up little plant tengu boi
Shiftry has Jiraiya Sensei's hair and the same type of shoes and he's a dark type like a ninja and grass like the village hidden in the leaf's
I definitely thing Chlorophyll users really don’t get the credit they deserve (especially compared to their Swift Swim counterparts and Sand Rush Excadrill). They can really hold their own! It’s just unfortunately gotten harder to maintain Sun when two of the other weather effects (Rain and Sandstorm) are really strong against the Fire-types that typically benefit from Sun and a lot of the Grass-types that enjoy that weather condition struggle outside of Sun.
That typing...and also, bug typing buffs gen-by-gen...yea, shiftry is kinda on the same fate as claydol
Yup, definitely... (Looks at Shiftry jumping up from Untiered to RUBL with only 2 new moves)
Meowth dressing up as Shiftry in the anime was the second time a Team Rocket scheme was foiled by the Pokedex. Meowth dressing up as a Kirlia was the first
Another Pokemon that actually got better in gen 8.
16:05 - Well Gamefreak did kinda listen I suppose, seeing that it now has Wind Rider. AKA: Can't be touched by the best special Flying move in the game, can't be touched by one of the best special Fire moves in the game, and can't be touched by one of the best special Ice moves in the game.
(0:39) NordVPN: „You challenge me, mortal?“
Shiftry is a really cool Pokémon. It’s a shame that its counterpart overshadows it, not that there’s anything wrong with Ludicolo
Ludi is a great addition to rain teams. Kingdra is a bit better though.
And then it got wind rider
Please do Swellow next! It changed so much from a Guts sweeper to a special one using Boomburst!! I think it would be a really interesting episode.
Can we all agree that Shiftry's walking animation in Battle Revolution is cursed?
A Dark type that gets *stronger* in sunlight.
Somebody at GameFreak doesn't understand how light and dark work together.
Silk Scarf Shiftry with Fake Out + Explosion basically won Orre Colosseum for me back in the day.
On a British keyboard shift + 3 is a £ sign. The octothorpe (#) is just left of return/enter.
To think of all tiers this thing could work well in, it fit in ubers of all things. Granted it was niche, but like at least it had a role. Pretty sick mon
You can say that about Parasect as well.
If Pickpocket was reversed (on hitting rather than getting hit), it would be a neat disruptor. Normal Gem + Fake OUt + the Thief effect would be so cool Shame we live in a timeline where pickpocket doesn do that
iirc that is how Magician works
How amazing was Marshadow actually I'm just requesting to see how good my favorite ghost type actually was
It was very bad

"It also had the opportunity to use the more powerful Leaf Blade instead of Seed Bomb as its grass STAB, which it couldn't on the Swords Dance set since it was incompatible with Sucker Punch."
What does this mean? Why does sucker punch necessitate using seed bomb over leaf blade?
Hoenn has some great grass types to choose from! I love grass types and I love the Hoenn region
Yeah. Breloom is my favorite Pokémon of all time.
Isaiah Hauff you have great tastes! Breloom is also my all time favorite
For those who don't know, in Gen 9, Shiftry has gained the ability "Wind Rider" meaning any and all Wind related attacks (including Tailwind) it boost its attack by 1. Which is.. Amazing, now if only it could tank a Wind related attack.
It also makes you immune to wind attacks so heat wave and hurricane which would normally destroy it now do 0%
Even Blizzard. Never thought I would see the day that Shiftry is immune to one of strongest Ice attacks.
@@SeonilKim-ry5lj I didn’t even know that lmao
Yess Shiftry, finally! My favourite evolution line!
😐
@mouthbreathing hick 😂
I also love shiftry, its great to see it is someones favourite
You should check out Dragonite. Evolution line wise, that is my favorite since Dragonite maintains its cuteness and can be a monster in OU.
@@RoyRogersNews my dad can beat up your dad!
"Gas knot" perfect poison type move. OP in ubers
Not stopping till we find out how GREAT Deoxys is ACTUALLY 🧬
Deoxys has 4 forms; he's probably not wanting to cover all of them
@@redz9112 Maybe he can do a documentary on all of them individually.
@person person Rotom would be more interesting since there is more variety.
@person person rotom please
I've been wanting it too.
3rd/4th Gen Smogon: Ok Shiftry, you're NU.
Shiftry: Look Im in Ubers.

"I believe this is all happening for a reason"
Shiftry is such a good pokemon design wise, I'm glad it got those new moves in gen 8 to keep it relevant even in a lower tier ^^
This is why I dislike Dexit. Practically every Pokémon could benefit from Gen 8's expansive TM/TR list if they weren't cut. Gliscor, for example, may get Power Whip.
@@gengarzilla1685 ngl I laughed about how gen 8 handed so many pokemon close combat like candy. yr right though.
4:34 Ah yes, Gas Knot
🍑 💨
How about "How did Trick Room affect the competitive scene of Pokemon"?
U didnt do such a video for a while & I think the audiance will be kinda curious about that attack
"Shiftry outsped the occasional Deoxys-Speed" is not a sentence I was expecting to hear today
Wonder if it can outspeed regieleki lol
Shiftry is an underrated threat with chlorophyll.
Reminder that just a few days ago something that naturally outspeeds Deoxys-Speed has been introduced. Who would have thought we would see the day something faster than Deoxys-Speed would exist.
What next? Something with higher defense or special defense than Shuckle? Something with more HP than Blissey?
@@M3rtyville Let's give Porygon2 a Giagantimax form. Then Blissey's HP can be beaten.
Due to the way stats are set, nothing can permanently beat Blissey's base HP. 255 is the standard maximum.
4:34 Ah yes, my favorite Grass type move, *Gas Knot.*
Honestly after seeing gigalith in uu in gen 8 i want a gigalith video now.
Wait what? How did that thing ever find itself in UU lol
My favorite rock type
It probably won't be that interesting before Gen 7 gave it Sand Stream, but if Beedrill already has a video then it's definitely possible.
0:33 that t pose though
I’m happy that Shiftry is finally too good for a tier
Shiftry using sucker punch (suprise attack in Japanese) must be so scary for the other Pokémon. Like imagine attacking and all of a sudden this giant ninja just attacks you.
No mention of shiftry's dominance in ZU?
Shame.
Im glad youve finally found a sponsor. Keep it up guys, this channel is awesome
Can we see how good Drifblim was Actually?
Unburden + Flying Gem + Acrobatics
Strength Sap Tank for Gen 8
@Pintlebert + aurora veil
When I was a kid I pronounced Shiftry as "Shirfry"
Kinda underrated grass type
I love the move Gass Knott. 💨❤
Gas knot sounds like wario's waft (what if wario secretly was the evolved form of weezing) 😉
Darren Way shmashian form?
That explains why Wario laughs. He taunts with Nasty Plot then follows with Gas Knot. Such an evil combination of moves!
(Lol I'm sorry I just busted out laughing at this comment as well as hearing Kelan say "Gas Knot" XD he was probably having a tired/lazy day?)
No mention of the most famous Shiftry appearance of all? As a certain Nuzleaf once prophesied, "I believe this is all happening for a reason..."
Nah, Conk can mach punch it.
How good were the lati-twins. I need to KNOW.
He cant do it because it would be too long.
you have to admit, in Battle Revolution Shiftry has the best dab of all of Pokemon
