I live not far from Lorraine Fabrics. I've been going there many years. I had no idea that they did this. It must be how they now sell their remnant pieces. It used to be that they had two floors to the store. The second floor was devoted to "bargain fabrics". There were many tables with remnants of all different kinds on them. Then, around four years ago, the owner of the building decided to convert the second floor to apartments. There was much less space and much less selection. It's never been the same. There is only the one floor, and it's mostly devoted to bridal and fancy dress fabrics and upholstery fabrics. What is left of the regular fabrics have higher prices. I'm really glad I bought a lot of fabric from them before this happened. They have another store in Auburn, MA, which is at least an hour's drive from here. It's sad because they and Joann Fabrics are they only fabric stores left in RI. No bargains there. I seldom go to Lorraine any more. The last time I did, I couldn't even find the right colors of jacket zippers I needed to convert a couple of pullover sweaters to cardigans. I had to order them online. This store is like a shadow of its former self. I wouldn't buy a mystery box, especially for $100., that might or might not have what I can use. To me, this is their way of unloading fabrics that they don't want and no longer have the space to sell in their store.
Lorraine Fabric is great!! I have now got a great stash of 2.5” jelly rolls (I think they started getting low on them by Dec which maybe is why they sent the 6”), layer cakes, 1/2 yard packs etc.. the shipping was expensive to send to Canada because if the weight of each box but when you add up each item’s value if I had bought them locally (if I could even find them lol) it’s still an excellent deal. Today I put in an order for 27 colors in yardage 🥰
The 6" Jewel strip rolls are ombre fabrics. Angela Walters has a video where she shows how to make a Split Square quilt pattern from those rolls of fabric strips. I made it. Its beautiful!
Thank you for the tip. Going to google that now and check it out. The colors in the jelly roll are perfect for my daughter. Thanks for the quilt suggestion!!
They never sold pre cut quilting fabrics like that in their store. I suppose it's worth it compared to overseas prices and if you don't want to cut the fabrics yourself. To me, it wouldn't be a bargain, I've make quilts and cut the fabrics myself, mostly out of scraps from other projects. Guess I'm old fashioned.
I could feel your excitement and happiness through the camera 👍😜
You got a real good deal the fabric is beautiful .
Just wow!
Great value and wonderful colors. You are an excellent presenter...and your dog is super cute.
The pup when you squeal. Lol 😆
You got a great value! I love the colors too. The large fat quarters are closer to $80-110 unless you find a sale. So you didi great.
There are so many fabrics I cant wait to see what you make out of them enjoy yourself

Those are gorgeous! I dont even sew but I'm thinking of getting into quilting just so I can place an order with them 😂
I was lucky that here in Frankfurt the neighborhood craft group focused on sewing. They taught me the basics. Other than that - You should sew!
