My grandmother was from Ukraine. I remember her making borscht and perogies for us all the time. Such a hard worker and never complained about anything. Watching this video reminds me of her. Right down to your table cloth, pots and pans. Thank you for posting, it brought back fond memories.
First of all - "pierogi" is already plural so drop the "s" a the end (one pieróg, few pierogi)...Second of all, "pierogi" are Polish...Ukrainians have "pirohy" which is different from Polish "pierogi"...The equivalent of Polish pierogi are called either "vareniki" or "pelmeni" in Ukrainian depending on the stuffing...Vareniki are filled with meat, and pelmeni with potatoes, onion, spices...

Mom and Dad immigrated to US in 1949 from Ukraine made borscht similar seems like once a week but had carrots and cabbage in hers. My brother and sister make a great borscht I've never tried until recently but ended up making a nice cabbage soup overcooked I believe. Ingredients for next try on counter so your video comes at an opportune time. My wife and I are so blessed to be friends with a young couple from Ukraine in our church here in a farming community in SE Washington State, USA. What wonderful people... and they have 6 little boys - one of them born just 3 days ago. And her borscht and her homemade sourdough bread are soooo good. He grows a great garden... beautiful garlic among the many things he grows for their family and for a farmer's market. I feel badly that your people have had some very difficult times caused by strife. I believe this will change very soon. May God bless you. This is like watching my nan cook , she was way back 2 world wars in we moved in with her into the 70s , I would help her prep and cut and watch her cook food just like this , staple , simple , well cooked food but the taste wow , I watched her for hours every day , she would just cook , use ham hocks , chicken leftovers , you just can't match that nowadays, she had all sorts of stocks for everything she made , I count myself lucky growing up watching my nan in the late 70s cooking like she did and being a part of it , thank you for the nostalgia trip ❤

From Canada. Moved to Southern Ukraine ( Russia then) in mid 1700s from Poland. Moved to Canada in 1874. Adopted many foods while living in Ukraine. Vareniki, Porogies, Beet Borsch and cabbage Borsch. Visited Respublica the viilage my ancesstors lived in Ukraine in 1990. Beautiful country. May God bless you.

Finno-Hungarian tribes who spoke the Finnish language lived around and on Moscow territory’s, where the Muscovite Kingdom was born, and later the Russian Empire. This was a complete different language, different culture and mentality. These are the facts, everything else is the propaganda of the russians (Muscоvіtes), who for centuries wanted to seize the lands of the Slavs, and are still trying, as you can see. This is an amazing woman that doesn't complain about the way she lives she loves it she enjoys it it seems like she's happy and everything she does is with her bare hands. Thing I want to ask this I noticed that she has the chickens in this little box with a metal thing over and don't they get colds for the winter. And the rest of the animals that are in the outside is there anywhere that she put some for the winter. I mean it's the first time I watch her video so maybe she does I don't know. This is really amazing I wouldn't mind living like this as long as I have a lot of wood . matches kerosene and candles I will be happy. This is like watching my nan cook , she was way back 2 world wars in we moved in with her into the 70s , I would help her prep and cut and watch her cook food just like this , staple , simple , well cooked food but the taste wow , I watched her for hours every day , she would just cook , use ham hocks , chicken leftovers , you just can't match that nowadays, she had all sorts of stocks for everything she made , I count myself lucky growing up watching my nan in the late 70s cooking like she did and being a part of it , thank you for the nostalgia trip ❤

Vareniki, Porogies, Beet Borsch and cabbage Borsch. Visited Respublica the viilage my ancesstors lived in Ukraine in 1990. Beautiful country. May God bless you.

This was a complete different language, different culture and mentality. These are the facts, everything else is the propaganda of the russians (Muscоvіtes), who for centuries wanted to seize the lands of the Slavs, and are still trying, as you can see. They have rewritten their history and have been teaching lies for centuries, investing great resources to spread them around the world. So there is a lot of misinformation out there, but you can read or watch Timothy Snyder's video about Rus and who lived there.

Посеешь ветер - пожнёшь бурю! Вот теперь и пожинаете. Восемь лет Россия верила в Минские соглашения и стремилась к их реализации, а на деле оказалось, что это была сознательная ложь запада и Украины (и Порошенко об этом сказал в открытую, и Меркель). Нынешняя Украина - это сброд прокажённых и прОклятых, а СВО - чистилище для грешников. Вот уничтожат особо активных и упоротых, и всё успокоится.
Ненужную мягкотелость проявил И.В.Сталин в вопросе украинских националистов (нужно было всем лоб зелёнкой мазать), тогда бы не родились нынешние моральные уроды (от гнилой осинки не родятся апельсинки).

Such an amazing lady that's one hardy all natural meal my grandmother used to make this. Seeing her get some time for her book and tea made me smile. Also the cat getting a treat was nice its a fierce defender of the home its got the battle scars. Love the channel such a genuine experience.

I like the fact that she sits on the oven like in the old Russian/Ukraine novels.
This is an amazing woman that doesn't complain about the way she lives she loves it she enjoys it it seems like she's happy and everything she does is with her bare hands. Thing I want to ask this I noticed that she has the chickens in this little box with a metal thing over and don't they get colds for the winter. And the rest of the animals that are in the outside is there anywhere that she put some for the winter. I mean it's the first time I watch her video so maybe she does I don't know. This is really amazing I wouldn't mind living like this as long as I have a lot of wood . matches kerosene and candles I will be happy. Is better than living in the city where everything is so chaotic. God bless you so young lady
