@@punishedprops thank U mate i started watching u a few months ago and i was a newbie to foamsmithing but now i have a mandalorian helmet at my desk and weapons galore, all thanks to ur funny and interesting and informative videos!
Hey Bill, I noticed your skill bandsaw was starting to sound like mine on more difficult resaw cuts. There is a simple fix. Just losen the bolt on the back near the motor housing and move the motor housing further away from the blade. This will tighten the drive belt and make all cuts so much easier. Hope this helps.
I ran into the same issue you did at 7:13 wrapping 10mm foam around a tube when I made my M2 flamethrower backpack. I found the easiest way to remedy the huge gap was to make the wrap about an inch longer and beveling each edge .5 inch in. One bevel going up, the other down. When it's wrapped and glued, there's less stress of shear force trying to rip apart the seam. It also helps a whole helluva lot to heat form the curve too. It's pretty much an invisible seam too.

Sometimes in the summer the dollar store near me has extremely cheap foam footballs for kids to play at the beach. Have you ever tried using prefab foam shapes like that in your builds?
Great build. It was fun to watch and I always love your enthusiasm. I noticed you wearing a respirator when applying the contact cement. Do you use the same filters on that when you are doing the contact cement as well as sanding? Or do I need special filters for the different materials?
17:05 I expected exacto knife followed by a heat gun, any particular reason for the iron? More texture? Really fun build, it's so great to see Bill's reaction when the spikes are glued on :D
It creates a different texture! It's easier to do more organic lines and get some awesome variance in depth and width of the line. If I used a blade and heat gun, the lines would all be an even width and look less natural.

I was wondering if you every use anything to seal in all the paint on the final product. I'm worried the my projects will be ruined due to rain and snow, especially because I want them to be resistant to such weather. I've seen some people use clear varnish but I've also heard varnish dries hard and could be prone to cracking. I'm really at a loss about what to use.
We seal sometimes, other times we don't - it just depends on how we want to use the prop. If you have something rigid like a sword you can seal it with varnish or a regular clear coat, because it doesn't need to flex. Flexible sealing is a little more challenging but can be done!
