Hey Curly! This tutorial was very helpful, thank you! I have one trick to let you use the full range of your knobs: throw the Utility plug-in on each track, and set the gain to -6dB!
I recommend to change EQ8 to Autofilter for filter knob.. Autofilter made for movements, it sounds better and smoother when moving. EQ8 is made for static EQing.. have a try :)
@@nefbydesign. the same way u would map an EQ8, select the knob on Ableton > Right click > Edit Map > then press or move the knobs that u want to assign on ur controller
Hi Curly. Thx for the tutorial. Can you use the jog wheels as well using Ableton? And did I unterstand you right, you are basically using this setup with Ableton, to have precise control and the ability for adjustments afterwards, right?
hey! sorry for the late reply. I'm using the DDJ just for mixing. The songs are manually put there beforehand and there isn't any live beat matching. I'm just mixing the EQs.
I'm bit unsure about what exactly do you mean by "afterwards". After what exactly? Are you talking about importing an already mixed audio file into one channel and then "fine tuning" the EQ? Or are you talking about using Serato Bridge?
I’m thinking of picking up a Roland DJ 505. Is it possible to use that as a controller for ableton. I ran a dance music recording studio back in the 90s & early200s but due to bad health had to stop djing and producing. So I’m so out of touch. My experience is mainly with vinyl for djing. I did use tractor when it 1st came out.
Hello curlykills. I am a beginner in making music with ableton. What i dont understand is why you dont use for high pass and low pass the nromal Auto Filter? Is there an advantage with EQ Eight?
hey, thanks for a great question! My answer is quite simple: EQ Eight just came to my mind first. Auto Filter can be used as well, maybe it's even a better option.
ah. ok. thank you. Yiu knbow how to use one poti for two different effects? i mean i want tu use my poti for freq in Auto filter. And with same poti during i push shift button on my Pioneer DDJ Wego another effekt.
How did you get it to play on both channels... Mine is playing deck 1 on deck 2 and I wanna spilt so when I'm on deck 1,1 is playing and when I switch to 2 I'm on 2
Hey, it seems to me like you are talking about the crossfade slider. I don't really use it myself, I prefer using the channel volume for that. Deck one 1 = deck1 channel volume is all the way up, deck 2 volume all the way down and vise versa. So I'm not entirely sure how you can get crossfade to function exactly like it does with dj software. Probably need to work your way around it. One idea could be that you map the solo or mute button to the crossfade... It won't work 100% like it should but maybe you can adjust the way you go about it. Hope it sparks an idea and perhaps helps you come up with a better idea than I suggested.
Hello. Very interesting your ideas. I'm trying to connect a Rb controller in rekordbox and a launchpad in ableton. But always from conflict, or it works one or the other, and still having latency. Could you help me with something? Thank you in advance.
Thanks for the tutorial. I was able to map the EQ knobs so the center detent equals 0 db using a max for live plugin called Grid Funktion. www.maxforlive.com/library/device/2157/grid-funktion

Thanks for help and solution. All fine works with A11.
If they had a jogwheel control over ableton time code it would have been a death blow for all those dj controller softwares.
Makes me wonder if there's a plugin made for that.
To set the hi/lo pass filter you have to group the effects cmd g and then set a knob to control both.
Hello! Thank you so much for the video! Very informative and helpful!
muchas gracias !
Great vid and easy to follow! Also, still very relevant. Thank you! :)

Great. That's what I thought. And so you are able to adjust and fine tune the EQ afterwards in Ableton, right?

I do not want to confuse you. What is your main reason for you using Albton Live to record your dj set?
Short answer - old habits.
We love you 😃

Can u put out a video for basic music production with ableton?
WOW. THANK YOU!!!
Your voice is very interesting, nice-sounding :) I also could not figure out where you come from by your accent.
Super cool content
Do you think its possible to make the performance pads work in Ableton Live at all. Thanks
thank u so much, but i was trying to put my guitar on the aux input, but i cant configure that. can you help me? sorry for my bad english
Can't you make a lowpass-highpass mapping by using a big bandpass?

Hey Curly, how did you bring together all the physical connections of sb2 with ableton?
David Burns Hey David! I used the USB cable only.
Does it also work with DDJ SB3?
do i need any extra cords or does the DDJ come with what i need?
What about the jog wheels ?
there's a free filter plugin on plice that you can use to assign with only one knob
Funktioniert das auch mit Ableton Live 10 Lite?

legend this is what i was trying to do with a different max for live tool too ! this is the one !
can i use ddj 1000 with ableton live?
I think so, the controller is essentially a MIDI, so all models should work. Try it out.
@@curlykills let me try next week
Hi - any idea if these mappings work with the ddj sb3?
