Was struggling like crazy with the drivers side! How simple to pull the expansion tank hose and just move it away, saved my fingers and sanity! Thankyou
Hi mate, is the black plastic bit goes in first and then the bulb or bulb in first then the clip ? Coz I am having abit of a problem putting the whole thing back in it just doesnt fit like how it was before
IIRC you place the bulb and clip it in place with the clip, then on goes the plastic, it is fiddly but doable. Hope this helps and thanks for you comment.
Just looked at 1:43 and I believe your talking about the rear cap. It should just turn, sometimes they can get stuck if they haven't been disturbed for a long time, but persevere it will undo.
@@MADL1fe Success, i repaced both bulbs, in less than 1/2 hour. Great help, thanks a lot. It was a lot easyer, my sisters car have a petrol engine so no need to unmount anything on the right side. On the left side i just removed that plastic trim on the fender and pulled out the rubber air hose, it was no need to remove the battery. Was a bit tricky to corectly lock the bulbs in place. Cheers
Nice one, only on YT on D2R xenons on civic (looks same as type r). When calling Honda they told me to have ignition OFF at least 15min before to allow high voltage capacitors to discharge, I asked if battery really shouldn't be disconnected as well, but they said no need....but baiscally have to remove battery either way if doing both sides 😂
At my FN1 the left one is also burned and I opened the hood like 10 minutes ago and i thought shit i might have to remove the battery and after seeing this now i know that i am officially fckd 4 sure!😂
Hello mate, I'm trying to do this on my type r, looks like my clip is done up with torque screws? Do these need removing before I can turn it to pull out the bulb?
Just had a look, it's the clip the holds the headlamp in, I'm not sure what it's call it if you Google (the year of your car )Civic headlamp assembly, you maybe lucky to find a picture that tells you.
You forgot ONE IMPORTANT step before TURNING out the HID, NEED to undo 2 torx screws that prevents it from turning (unless you want to break the plastic mount)
Glad you mentioned this cos looking at mine , it looks like the plastic mount is just behind those screws. So I am guessing once loosened off this will allow the plastic holder to turn. Then once new bulb in. Plastic thing twist on then tighten up both screws to snug it into place. That's what it looks like but not 100% sure
Hi, Sorry I honestly can't remember, however if you visit Halfords they should be able to get you the correct bulb using your number plate details. Thanks for the comment
Civic std came first, Honda realized they need to be able to fit bigger engine and all that comes with that on Type R.... Honda engineers... Perfect fit 😅
I've got small hands I can do it without getting battery or anything out. But the left front indicator bulb... Looks like I've got a mission there... 🤯
@@MADL1fe I managed, its the same as the right hand side but you just have to detach the top of the black air vent pipe on the very top, close to the wing. It took me some time to find that point and I had to figure it out myself as I couldn't find a video of that. The cherry on top is that it didn't solve my problem as after I got the bulb out I figured out it wasn't even damaged. The cable or the slot must be broken. If I jiggle it it starts working... I won't be able to replace the cable if its that. I just hope its the case that the bulb goes into. I might get that replaced myself 🤞
Ok. The only video I found that makes me hope I can do this. Hopefully it will work.

Your very welcome
I must thank you for explaining and demonstrating how to replace these easily. Just did them before watching and it all went well. Liked!
Thanks for the comment and liking the video, glad you found it useful.
just want to say Thank you for the really helpful video, bulb replaced in 10 minutes
Thanks for the comment Tony and I'm glad my video helped you.
Very good explanation. 👍
Was very easy to follow.
Changed the bulbs in a few minutes. Thank you

1:43 "you just undo this..." great, but how exactly undo it? thanks

@@MADL1fe i think is the plug, must turn or just pull? thanks very much
It turns and you pull when unlocked @pecosimplu7070

Tbf most car dealers haven't got a clue, even if it's the service department.

Hi buddy,
You shouldn't have to undo any screws to remove the bulb, it's just a clip.
How do you unplug the light before you take the black retention bracket?
Do you twist that box or do you pull it?
Hi Andre,
If i remember correctly it twist anti clockwise and pull back
@@MADL1fe Thank you.
Had same question before going at it 😊
Could you shine a light into the unit so we can see the system? Tanks
I'm afraid I don't have access to this vehicle now.
What are the black clips called on the video at 2 minutes 18 seconds

I didn't break any plastic mounts, so I'm not sure how important the step is, maybe I was just lucky.

Donut you don’t need to take the battery out! All you need is a smart uncle.
honda civic dimlight replacement
I haven't done one but can look into it
What bulbs are those? I need to replace mine.

@@MADL1fe okay thank you, I just got this car. 😅
Really nice cars, well done. Ikle has now moved on from the Covid and has a Hyundai Coupe.
D2R for the HID/Xenon bulbs (dipped) and H1 for the main beam. Hope this helps.
Thanks for adding the info Mark
You are my hero 😅 thank you
Glad I could help.
This is such a ridiculous design, making it way too difficult to replace light bulbs which should be so simple!
Totally agree @silverforceX, im sure they would say it was to save space in the engine bay.

I have pretty small hands too, but definitely makes it more comfortable to get some things out of the way.

You're very welcome
I just replaced the headlight without removing the battery :) it's possible.
Congratulations you have done what Honda technicians couldn't do 😂
Needs improvement. Lots.
I bet the newer models are no better, probably worse
Really,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, What a pain in the Ass!! Ill wait until spring once the snow has vanished................
Yeah it's still not the easiest bulb to change, but hell of alot easier than Honda's way.
What dreadful design, honda made these cars almost impossible to work on.
Made easy haha. Ballache you mean
Well yeah it could be easier, but at least the way I did it is easier than Honda's full bumper off way.
