My struggle is tho I have given up sleep efforts for weeks now & I truely do nothing to sleep. But I still cannot fall asleep for hours and hours and I can’t stay asleep either. This is what makes me scared and concerned that my case may be different. The hyperarousal isnt as intense , I go to bed calm doing nothing and I still can’t sleep for hours 😪😪

biggest thing that played part in creating performance anxiety was the duration of time being awake. idk where it was written or maybe i heard it from someone else that if you were awake for more than average hours (maybe like 14-15) or something your body thinks there is something wrong (danger) and will delay sleep for that day. now i don't remember exactly what was said, but when i look back at it i realize how stupid it really is 🤣fear of this was so deeply rooted that even after i educated myself about sleep drive which literally debunks that because it only increases throughout wakefulness even after that I didn't realize this til now...

Thanks for your content! I also subscribe to your app. One of my main problems is I don’t worry if I sleep or not. I honestly don’t care. But I still feel this ache or anxiety in my heart during the day seemingly about it and it makes me feel so alone. Like I truly do not care if I sleep but I still am worrying about it during the day even though I tell myself, but you don’t care if you sleep? It’s like my brain is so stubborn! Any tips or ideas. I don’t care about the tired feeling of a sleepless night, but the daytime dread is what bothers me and makes me not present as much as I want to be.

How do you think you don’t ’need to’ sleep when there is a great need to sleep to perform at a high pressure event (5 days and international). When this happens I get one hour sleep a night and am fearful of my fear of not being able to physically cope 5 days in a row with bosses

Kobe Bryant spent most of his career sleeping only 4 hours a night if that.. and that itself was often in two separate chunks
Jerry West similarly didn’t sleep well (and still doesn’t) into his mid 80s
British Prime Minister Margret Thatcher averaged 4 hours a night her whole life and that includes live public appearances/speeches/performing duties
It’s certainly possible to do so

What can you do if you are truly exhausted from 8 months of insomnia ? I crash asleep for 3 hours then awake again. How can i fix the exhaustion ?

Daniel - you talk a lot about effortlessness, and that really does resonate with me. An issue that I experience is that, even though I am nodding off on the couch, when I lay down in bed in silence to sleep, I have trouble sleeping. It almost feels like an effort in and of itself b/c I am expecting to sleep. However, when I abandon trying to sleep and put on an audio book or podcast, I forget about trying and just fall asleep. Should I just abandon laying down in silence to try to sleep? Should I just start my bedtime by putting on an audiobook or podcast first ting? Is that less of a sleep effort since I am doing something and not trying, or is that too disruptive to sleep by avoiding thoughts?
