Thank you so much for mentioning Tiana. I was really disappointed when the command zone took 1 look at it and instantly wore it off as another Boros commander. My deck is based around the principle of “don’t attack me” I have lots of auras that disuade attacks against me and lots of auras that are useful to recur. It’s not my best deck, but it can hang with more powerful decks, the consistent recursion is extremely useful when you get hit with 5 board wipes per game.

Runetail is actually quite interesting. Provided you can protect your stuff from spot removal, that protector of the crown, I believe it was, can stall out a game in a way that card advantage becomes less of an advantage. A hugely underrated theft commander is Merieke Ri Berit, with under 400 decks on EDHrec. Her sneaky trick is that if she leaves the battlefield - she doesn't even have to die - or untaps, you destroy the creatures she stole. So with something like Pemmin's Aura or blink effects, for a few blue mana you can repeatedly wipe the board except for a single creature, which you then just control. And if you give them indestructible with something like Avacyn, you don't even lose the creatures as you do this.

I recently built a Tiana aura defence deck, and it's really fun! One of my favourite cards in the deck is spirit link, especially when you slap it on your opponent's big scary beater. Whenever that creature deals damage, you gain that much life! Notably, it's not been updated to say lifelink instead, meaning you can slap it on your opponent's biggest, scariest thing, gain life whenever it deals damage, and if they want to stop it they have to sacrifice it or destroy the aura, and you just get it back with Tiana! Laccolith rig is another really fun card in the deck - "Whenever enchanted creature becomes blocked, you may have it deal damage equal to its power to target creature. If you do, the first creature assigns no combat damage this turn." You can slap it on an opponent's creature, block it if it swings at you, and blow up something else scary! It's a really fun politically orientated deck, where you use enchantments on your opponent's creatures you help have them do things for you!
Also, if you're looking for a way to win with Tiana, All That Glitters and Etheral Armor can turn her into an absolute powerhouse out of no-where, especially if you've had your opponent's deal with each other!

Garna is a huge amount of fun. Don't write off the haste clause either, but not for massive attacks. Once you have the mana from your Priests and Cathodion sacc'd to Altars you can cast mana dorks like Basal Thrull and Generator Servant, drop Garna, and before you sac her and her ETB goes off, tap all the dorks (now they are hasty) to float the mana, and then sac them as well. Throw in the usual reducers (like the monuments and medallions) and you can create infinite (or at least near infinite) spins of your creatures. Now kill everyone - before Syr K I used Impact Tremors, Outpost Siege, Judith, Bontu's Monument etc. Syr K makes this even more vicious. Aetherfluxing the table is also a very real possibility and just for giggles, Haze of Rage where the storm count is ludicrous. After all, all your creatures have haste. Have fun murdering the table with a bunch of overclocked mana Myrs.
The only minor problem is that your turns can be a little like solitaire - though, hey it is the Rakdos player's turn for once, suck it blue mage, with your extra turn spells.

I feel Xyris, the Writhing Storm very is underrated.
A lot of youtube videos talk about their top 10 from ikoria and I never see it. There are a lot of group hug cards for drawing cards that are cheaper because they are "each player" but they really aren't group huggy in Xyris cause you get value from each card. Cards such as horn of greed or fecundity (they may but that just ends up being cheap card advantage for yourself then) Cause if an opponent draws a card not on their turn it isn't excluded from Xyris 1/1 snake trigger. It would be really each to get the army hurting too, with a Grumgully on the field or impact tremors to turn it more into a nekusar like deck but with creature advantage too.
Finally, Forced Fruition is a card and that gives you 7 snakes for free each time an opponent casts a spell. Also will probably end up being mass discard from everyone else too.

    • @mihaghoraprime6263
      @mihaghoraprime6263 4 года назад

Xyris can be incredibly powerful and fast. Absolutely love it. It costs just enough for you to set up a little bit, throw down a Howling Mine, Shared Animosity, Parallel Lives, Beastmaster's Ascendancy, Temur Ascendancy - whatever. Then the big leviathan comes out and starts throwing out a ton, and I mean a ton of snakes. It's brutal how much damage this commander can dish out, especially considering how powerful and desired draw is in commander. Consecrated Sphinx means more prophet for you. Any wheel card ever is more prophet for you. Any card that interacts with tribes or powers swarms, like Coat of Arms, or In the Web of War, or even just triggers on entering the battlefield like Impact Tremors, or better yet Purphoros. There's just so many things that interacts with this commander effectively. Even if Xyris is out and you don't have much out, I don't think people realize just what this commander can do and see the shared card draw as a fair or even advantageous exchange. Really fun and underrated commander, I'm surprised too why no one saw the potential in it.

I did make mine Snake tribal, so I have a few odd balls like: Sosuke's Summons and all the legendary snakes
Another odd ball is: Grothama, All-Devouring, lotta value if people don't want it to die haha
Also The Great Aurora is a fun one, no snakes from it but you will more often than not get more value from permanents than others.

On a side note, Garna (the Bloodflame) works well as a support creature to guard against board wipes and double down on sacrifice outlet value in any creature-based deck containing red and black.

Etrata is amazing combined with cards like Helm of the Host and Spark Double. But she works best in smaller games like 1 on 1. Danitha is awesome because she is cheap, powerful and makes all your auras and equipments cheaper.

While I've seen horobi floating around locally, it was before it got many of its key cards listed here.
As far as some other underated decks, I wish to propose 2 to you.
First is Seton, krosan protector, and Druid tribal. Now, I admit, most people who saw the deck immidietly assumed it was elves, cause lots of druids are also elves. But the point is, Seton lets you tap druids for mana, ignoring summoning sickness, unlike Sachi, who you mentioned in this video. This lets you play though your cards quickly and efficiently. And there are some cards that allow you to just keep drawing additional cards. Essentially it's an elfball...er, druidball style deck. While glimpse of nature is up there price wise, there are other solid replacements.
The second, and this one i feel is severely underplayed, is ib halfheart, goblin tactition. The issue here is that goblin tribal, even in mono-colour, is seen to have a better commander in krenko. However, ib halfheart can have surprisingly explosive plays, mostly due to the effect of it less people remember. Sac 2 mountains:make 2 gobbos.
Now, yes, getting rid of your own lands sounds like a super risky play. It is. BUT, it can allow you some random wins out of nowhere due to a few cards. First, obviously, is purphoros. It's a deck that makes tokens. However, another funny thing about the deck is how it interacts with mana echos. See, mana echos triggers when you make a creature that shares a type, but doesn't count how much mana you get till resolution.as such, you can respond to its trigger by saving more lands for gobbos, triggering it more, and giving more chance to respond. Yes, you can wipe your lands out fully, but you can generate easily a ton of mana with this. This can lead into any number of ways to kill the table with all that mana. However, it's an all or nothing plan. If it gets countered, your a sitting duck, but sometimes that happens, and people usually try to take you out quick after that stunt.
Ib also has its first effect, that goes well with the enchantment repercussions. It makes it so no one wants to block your goblins, and risk losing a creature, and taking 4 to the face. (Repercussions already makes blocking unfavorable normally)

@@azazelmorningstar5631 exactly. And yes, I have eaten counter spells as a result of this move. But it's always been in an attempt to close the game out.
Its possibly a mental thing also. When I do it, i think if it as saying "I want to move on to the next game". So I either win, and move to the next game, or I get knocked out for having no resources, and can move onto the next game
