- This is an installation video of the Injen RD1482P cold air intake for the 2003-2007 Honda Accord V6. I don't start up the car in this video, as this is just meant to be a "how to" video. Overall, the installation is easy, except for removing the stock air box assembly, which is a terrible hassle. Just installed it on my acura tl. Sounds awsome at 4000+ rpms.
Did the same thing to my 07 accord sounds really good
I would had love to see you actually take it out lol I would watch it even if it was 2 hour long lol good shit bro 💪🏾💪🏾
nice....I got AEM v2 cai installed last month and deciding on getting the atlp v2r j pipe...keep it up bro
Awesome, I'm thinking about getting the ATLP V2 with the test pipe. Do you have a catback, or just the j-pipe?
+AJS Woodworks I have a custom piping and a flowmaster catback (I recommend not to get) cuz it sounds like a fart can when you launch...and no I don't have a jpipe yet but I'm currently saving up for it
Good to know, I can't settle on an exhaust for mine yet.
How did the pipe turn out?!
Hey man did u hear a whistle sound and also did u have an engine check light
Nice man I got Acura TL doing this morning
Thanks man did it a little deferent but it still worked out 👍
No problem, I'm glad I could help.
you had a bolt in your tyre hahaha great vid 4:00
He does have a bolt in his tire
I just noticed that😅 hope he does to
2015 6-6 with the same setup 🤘
We own an 05 V6 Sedan that doesn't have the air vent in the fender. Do you think the intake would still work well down there? Was thinking of swapping a bumper from a coupe, but don't know if it'll fit.
It may not work as well, but it will still be better than bringing an air from the engine bay. I believe the stock intake on the sedan still takes it from the wheel well. Switching out the bumper is a good idea, but yeah, I don’t know if it would fit or not.
@@AJSWoodworks alright, thanks!
I haven’t done it yet but I was wondering where you get that pvc piece to connect the two pipes together? Does it come with the intake?
Cody Lauter Yes, that’s a new adapter that comes with the intake.
No sound test at end wow.i was excited to hear it
Check my channel, I made a separate video for the sound
ruclips.net/video/2ilYSVnrmVk/видео.html
Did all these clamps and hoses come with the kit or did you have to get them at a parts store?
Never mind I see it all in the box now
Hey I’m looking to get this exact intake setup for my 05 and I’m curious what size the hydro Shield is? (5base or 6base) If you could let me know that’d be great🙏🏼
Here it is: www.amazon.com/dp/B001CO2JHU/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_86N6DJPTSEENP4HZKS26?linkCode=ml2&tag=ajswoodworks-20
How did it sound? Were there any leaks? How long did this take? This product replaces the need for the factory air filter?
It sounds great. It whistles at around 2000 rpm, and adds some roar when it hits high rpm. No leaks, and no issues 2 years later. It took longer a couple hours, but I could do it much quicker now that I know how simple it actually is. Yes, it replaces the entire air cleaner assembly, and comes with its own filter.
Kuz I dont have the injen brand. but I have the same car as you and just installed mine. but its another brand but it got installed the same. and just hate how the pcv tubes look and wanna do what you did, would I have any issues doing what you did?
adrian Perez It should be fine, unless the new intake requires some sort of input from the tubes to work properly. Does it use the stock tubes? Just get the Injen, haha.
you didnt have a problem connecting the two pipes? that were on the pvc pipe? why did mine have green liquid I believe was coolant idk help me put bro
adrian Perez I believe the old intake was cooled by the cars coolant system through that small tube. That’s why there was some green antifreeze/coolant. The cold air intake doesn’t use the coolant system, so the two tubes can be connected, bypassing the air intake.
I know this was a long long time ago but can you remove battery and battery tray to intstall this
Yes, you can remove the battery and possibly the battery tray as well, but it’s not necessary to install it. I’m not sure if it would make it easier to reach into the fender or not.
you had a bolt in your tyre hahaha great video 4:00
Ainsley Harriott Thanks! Haha, I actually put it there so I wouldn't lose it, but it does look like it's stuck in it.
Left out the best part.... the sound!
rusty rivet I probably should have put it in the video. Here’s a sample of how it sounds: ruclips.net/video/2ilYSVnrmVk/видео.html
Hi there, at 5:57 the brass looking thing, is there suppose to be a plug in there ? When I pulled the plug out I noticed a plug. Not sure if it was in the hose before hand. Thoughts ?
A plug in the tube? On mine the tube connected to the brass looking connection, and there was a clear plastic connector that connected the old tube to the new air intake tube. I'm not aware of any plugs.
Just finished installing my aem v2, your video helped alot. I had a hard time removing the pvc tubes at 5:45 but finally got it out for a clean install. Everything seems to be working great. Sounds amazing when wot. Thanks for the video and reply.
Lazyxboy4life Awesome, glad to hear it. I know, I love the way the air intake sounds. I'm glad I could help.
This setup is exactly how my 06 accord is the only thing i have a problem is that when im going around 30-40 i can hear the intake hissing wanting to get more air did you leave the fog lights off so more airflow can enter? As well im going to need a filter guard for water cuz my car is lowered
I don’t think it’s hissing because it’s trying to get more air, I think it’s just the amount of airflow that it’s getting causes that noise. My car didn’t come with fog lights, it actually came with a fake vent on the passenger side and an actual vent on the driver side, which makes my cold air intake much more efficient. I my car is lowered as well, and I’ve had good success with the filter guard.
@@AJSWoodworks do you believe it’s probably getting less or it’s just alot of air for just regular speed? And I have noticed once I changed the original filter (it was dirty and moldy) to a new one it felt more smoother/sensitive hard to explain but there was a difference
@@CrisPBacconYT I think it’s the rush of air that’s causing the noise. I feel like I could hear my intake whistle more after replacing it with a new filter.
A bit late but do you get a check engine light by doing this ?
Nope, no check engine light and it’s been on the car for years.
Thinking about getting this for my own 2004 V6 Accord Coupe, but I saw some notable cons against it online. Did installing it make your check engine light come on? Also do you actually notice an increase in acceleration performance? Answers would be huge, thanks
It didn’t cause any lights to come on at all. As a precaution, I also put the hydroshield on the filter to prevent water getting sucked in (likely why someone’s check engine light would come on). I did notice that it breathed better. I could tell that it had more mid to top end power (over 3000 rpm or so). But allowing it to breathe better should technically help at all levels. I still have it running on my accord with no issues a few years later. I recommend it.
Why would it cause a cel?
@@AJSWoodworks thanks man that’s huge
@@MyBrothersKeeper101 the sensor
@@ben10bro22 are you speaking of the mass air flow sensor?
What wheels do u have on it? I like them
Thanks! They are Avarus AV9’s. I like them too, I think they fit the car pretty well.
anyone hear that v6 accord in the back around 35 sec mark
Could the bottom half of intake box feed cold air into the engine bay while protecting injen cai from water?
Jonathan Mccloyn As in mixing the CAI with the old box? I don’t think it’s necessary. I haven’t had any major issues with water.
How about the mass flow sensor
Elprofe Yon I believe it’s connected to the throttle body, but I could be wrong. I know it isn’t on the air intake though.
I installed a cold air intake on my 06 v6 auto and instantly noticed a significant loss of low end power, can somebody help me out to fix the problem
Jon Dough You may not have it hooked up correctly, but I really can’t say what it could be.
@@AJSWoodworks i installed it exactly as the video shows, im not sure what is wrong
Sometimes an aftermarket performance part will shift the powerband. The question is, do you have more power up high.
Cold air intakes are a hit and miss mod. Half the time they do no good or are worse than the original.
I bet half the people who install cold air intakes dont know anything about how its supposed to work and just want the sound.
@@Greasy__Bear actually yeah it does feel a little more grunty in the high end RPMs but a lot less power down bottom, i was told to try a 4in intake tube that may solve my problem
Jon Dough I noticed more power up high with mine, but low end is t exactly lacking either. It might have reduced low end slightly though.
Where did you find the plastic connector at ?
Which plastic connector?
That’s in the hose my guy
Where was the mass air flow sensor?
Joe C I believe the mass airflow sensor is on top of the throttlebody, so replacing the air intake doesn’t require messing with it.
Do you recommend the hydro shield cover? Live in East Tennessee. We get some hard rain here but not often. Also, if I install without the cover, how hard is it to get to the filter to add it or clean it?
I recommend that you use the hydro shield just in case. I don't know how it performs without it, but I don't want to risk it. I live in middle Tennessee, and I haven't had any issues with it getting wet through the shield. In the video it seems difficult to get to, but it really isn't hard. You just have to pop the front bumper off on that side.
Thanks for the quick response! I figured the hydro shield is the way to go. They're $20 on Amazon. Well worth it for the peace of mind.
Billy Bishop No problem.
you wouldnt be looking to sell your stock airbox would you?
XANDOES Unfortunately not. I plan to keep it so that I can include it with the car when I sell it.
Did you get any codes after driving around with it
ALFONSO WILLIAMSON Nope, I've had it on for more than a year now, and I've had no lights or problems resulting from the installation.
what is the purpose of it
leon johnson It increases the efficiency at which air can be drawn into the engine. It also weighs less than the stock air box.
is there no maf sensor?
There is, but it is attached to the throttle body and not the intake, so there is no need to touch it.
Oh nice! Im looking at an 07 6spd sedan
+Taylor Mullis Awesome, those are hard to find.
+AJS Woodworks i know 5k for 130k miles, not to bad, this intake will fit it im assuming?
+Taylor Mullis Yep, it will fit.
Does it trip the check engine light?
Noel Jacobs No sir.
how's the car performing after the intake
It's doing great. I haven't had a single issue with it even in extremely heavy rain and driving through deep puddles in the road. It also whistles during mild acceleration (which I kind of like), and adds to the roar of the engine during full throttle. I think it performs better, but I haven't actually dyno'ed it.
You can get an Injen HydroShield PreFilters that supposedly blocks out the water but has no effect on the air suction, if you are worried about water being sucked in. It only costs $20 bucks on eBay.

Homeboy gotta screw in his tire 4:03
ej8_805 Homeboy put that screw there so he wouldn’t lose it. There are better places to put screws though, haha. I’m glad I didn’t forget it.
How is the car now?
It's still pretty good. The only issue I've had is that a spark plug recently loosened up and stripped the head when it blew out. I had it fixed with a helicoil, and it's been back to normal since then. I don't trust the helicoil completely though.
I recently replaced the brake rotors and pads too, so I might post a review soon.
@@AJSWoodworks did you have any problems going through water like the intake sucking in water I just installed mine an I was a little nervous
phil Bradley The only time I’ve ever had an issue was about a month ago, and it was raining so hard that I really shouldn’t have been driving. There was a couple inches of standing water on the road. It made the car throw a code for a day or two, but that was it.
Thanks for not sharing the other video, the one where we could have heard it..
Monet Montemayor Sarcastic much? This is the best I've recorded it so far. Let me know if you want another, and I might record it again. m.ruclips.net/video/2ilYSVnrmVk/видео.html
nope. just like yours its the same thing just different brand. only tube it needs its the air hose like the one you did thats about it Kuz I wanna do the same thing Kuz it looks crowded. and the way you did it it looks clean. like I said its the same thing as to what you have just different brand.
adrian Perez You can definitely do it then. It should have come with the adapter 6:34 to connect the two hoses. If not, you might be able to find one online or in a hardware store.
Would you know the tubing size?
alvaro padilla I don’t know the exact dimension, but I think the tubing is about 3 inches in diameter. The diameter of the filter opening is 3.5 inches.
AJS Woodworks I picked up a used k&n one so wanted to see if they were about the same size. Are you going to the intake manifold mod?
alvaro padilla What mod is that? I have the 6spd, so the intake is better than on the automatic. I could port and polish it, or replace it with an MDX manifold.
AJS Woodworks it swapping your current manifold for an MDX manifold or a j35 manifold. I swapped a tl type s one onto mine and it makes it more responsive and frees up some ponies
alvaro padilla Awesome. I may have to do that in the future. Right now I’m looking at j-pipes.
What state u live in
Tennessee
How can I get a intake like yours in California
@@fernandoespinoza944 There is a link in the description of my video through which you can purchase the intake. I don’t know if California allows it though.
Ok thank you
All that and we dont get to hear it start, I heard it doesnt run well without a tune and hearing it start was my only reason for watching the video....
asassin asa ruclips.net/video/2ilYSVnrmVk/видео.html I made it into a separate video
I need one of these cause my sisters car keeps over heating 😑😂
The Real Laggy boy ツ Haha, that’s a good excuse.
@@Matthew-ib2kz why would you think an intake would fix the overheating issue if you hacent figured it out yet it probably has something to do with the cars cooling system
@@zachbento3798 I’m gonna be honest I was just starting to get into cars when I made that comment
As a Honda mechanic I can guarantee you it's a waste of money but each to there own..
You have to record how you remove everything lmao. Editing stuff out 💩
Julio Cesar Yeah, unfortunately I didn’t get a good shot of it. If you have any questions I might be able to help.
A lot of rigmarole for something that doesn't add any horsepower at all.
I don't think either of us have personal proof of either side of the argument. Injen has a dynosheet showing that it adds about 15 hp and 12 ft-lbs of torque at 6700 rpm on an Acura TL. I can't say that I have the same gain as that car because I haven't put it on the dyno, but I can say that my car accelerates easier. And, even if the air intake doesn't increase HP (which I personally think it does), it vastly improves the efficiency of the air intake system and weighs less. That alone would be enough of a reason to upgrade.
AJS Woodworks There is enough proof on RUclips to prove my point. There are some instances where it decreases horsepower.
I agree that in some instances it decreases horsepower, but I haven't seen any of those tests with my car. There are plenty of tests and dyno sheets that show an increase in horsepower, so I think it has more to do with the car and the environment around the car (ex. heat). But once again, if you look at the stock air box compared to the cold air intake, you will see why the cold air intake is a better system for efficiency. However, neither of us have personal proof that it increases or decreases power on my car.
+AJS Woodworks Injen claims about 13 hp.
If that is true then I would be fully satisfied with that figure. I don't have personal proof of that gain on my car, but I have reason to believe that there is some truth to it.
you had a bolt in your tyre hahaha great vid 4:00

Hey man did u hear a whistle sound and also did u have an engine check light
Eric Manso Yeah, the whistling sound is normal at low RPMs, but I didn’t have a check engine light. You may not have connected the tubes correctly, or something unrelated might be going wrong.
