The hockey drill is a very effective “feel” drill. I’ve been using some drills I have formulated myself to bring most of the the proper position feels into my swing as well as sequence drills that establish the muscle memory progression as well. Specific drills that grind in those sequence transition progressions is something many instructors don’t focus on probably because it’s never really been considered. The focus is more on the greater radius of motion. Well believe it of not, there actually is a way to burn these little transition feels into muscle memory. The first time I contemplated if this was an effective method, it was difficult to find an effective drill for each transition between positions for both takeaway and downswing. It’s definitely splitting hairs. But BOY were the results incredible once I found those drills. The two most effective drills overall I have found for consistency of a pure strike on that ball is definitely the hockey drill exactly the way it’s shown here, especially if you focus on a proper rotation as opposed to a turn while doing it. The other is the drill Nick Faldo created for himself where he takes the club back into the backswing club parallel position, holds it there for a few seconds, then finishes the backswing, shallowing transition, and keeping that hockey downswing thought and feel all the way through release. Once you feel the clubs natural weight do the work following these drills accurately, those two drills alone will do wonders if you really do them with focused intention many times over until your feeling completely pure contact every single time. Drills only work if you do them over and over regularly and correctly. Doing them only a few times will never get you there. But doing them for 5 minutes every day for a few weeks will totally change your game for sure. 😎
Great explanation. The hockey drill is so good. I've never tried the Nick Faldo one. You're spot on in saying you have to do these drills properly and consistently. Alot of people do it a few times, don't see results and give up. Haha. Thanks for watching and the comment. 🍻

I honestly thought the alignment stick was going to end up stuck in the screen!
😂
Great video. With the first two drills, are you saying to pull the handle down to to ball?
Ya you want to pull the handle down through the ball towards your target
So, that’s how u start the downswing in a real shot, too
Ya give it a try the next time you’re hitting balls.
