I have this exact model, discontinued and hard to find. Also being 500m it has an advantage over the current daynight diver line wich is 300m. Im head of night watch, at a full service yacht harbor, and this is my duty watch. I have to check time constantly as things happen throughout the night, the t100 is awesome, i NEVER struggle to see it. Its submerged countless times a day in pretty nasty and corrosive waters, banged up against boat anchors, and hit with high pressure jets. Has its dings but it adds character, has never failed me, sapphire is still scratch free. I run a blue shark bond nato on it.

Would love to see a photo of how it looks being used daily like that! Good to use it for what it was built for

I work in the commercial diving industry ..A lot of SAT divers use these as a beater and wear the sub mariner in the bar... Tough watches and industry functional 100% 250m dives and no crystal pop issues on decompression..

I'm in the military and considering a deep blue or a citizen promaster diver. given some of the really pissed off people i've seen on some youtube comments and the trend that the lume is awful on the deep blue, what would you recommend?

@@carl-ok9gn lume is awefull on deep blue ? that is a total lie. I have a tritium deep blue and nothing in my collection compares. it shines like a torch all night long for 25 years.

I have a 13 yo Marathon TSAR with the T25 tritium tubes. Lume on that watch, even after 13 years, is infinitely better than the Superluminova lume on my Doxa 5000t at 3 o'clock in the morning.
T100 should give you 20 years of usable lume and is probably still good to go a ways after based on my experience.
Couple of things, tritium is effective once your eyes adjust. The 3:00AM example is key. Second, the tritium tubes include a layer of phosphorus. The phosphorus reacts with the tritium and is what actually glows: phosphoresence or more accurately: radioluminescence. Phosphorus also reacts with the UV light and not the tritium exactly.

Tritium tubes contain a small amount of luminous dye. As the tritium decomposes it emits energy, this energises the dye and causes the light. By using different dyes you can get different colours - that's why you see blue, green, red Trit tubes. If you shine a UV torch at the tube nothing happens to the tritium, but you will briefly charge the dye.

If you're in a bright room then turn off the lights you can't see the tritium tubes too much but stay in the dark long enough for your eyes to adjust to the low light conditions that is when you see how good tritium tubes are. You can't compare tritium tubes to glow in the dark paint ! Sit in the dark with both watches for a while and you'll see glow in the dark paint stops glowing while the tritium always shines! These tritium glass tubes are light bulbs w out a power source . Google it and learn about it!!

So true! I bought the new Day/night Rescue GMT. This is excellent fro deep technical dives, night and cave diving. The tritium tubes glow like torches. The bezel lume isn't all that impressive but at the 12 o-clock point there is a green tritium marker.

I have one of those watches and it's one of my favorites. The watch is bold and very easy to read in daylight or at night which is why I like it. The tritium works very well all night long. It doesn't start as bright as good lume but good lume will fade quickly while tritium stays the same all night. I have a new Luminox and an old Luminox and I can't tell any difference in them at night so I don't know how long the tritium will actually last.

Still selling this watch on eBay 2021, with a Seiko NH 35 movement. T100 last for 25 years, the T25 only last for 12 at max.

hey bro i just got one of the new version of that watch and mine glows like crazy,it could be that the phosphorus coating used on the inside of the tubes on that one is pretty crappy, witch makes it look dim or maybe they have been sitting around for years before they got put in the watch.take care and thank you for your reviews;-)

44 millimeters that's classic size you can't get any smaller than that that's perfect size, take a look at the Invictus 55 to 60 millimeters made for gorillas or big orangutangs...

Get ISO certified if you specialize in Dive watches , if you’re really diving you’re not going to risk your life with a desk diver

Tritium is crazy good on new models, so good it probably not be good for staying incognito in the night if that's important to people in military

get a deepblue and then cover it with a garment for low vis operations where you're using nods or being looked at with nods. that's what operators do. a deep blue is reliable for all other operations, so i would go for that. it's everything a seiko wish it could be. deep blue build quality is one of the best in the industry and is one of the toughest tool watches in it's class

    • @gammondog
      @gammondog 4 года назад

It doesn't. The phosphor coating the inside of the tubes will brighten up briefly when exposed to uv light. Other than that, it's the beta rays emitted from the radioactive decay of tritium that excites the phosphor into glowing. It has a half life of twelve and a half years. So in a dozen years that T100 tube will glow like a T50. After a quarter century it will be as bright as a T25.
