Hi Chuck, thanks so much for uploading these videos about That Phanom, very nostalgic! I was an English teacher at โรงเรียนทาธุพนม (That Phanom school) for 1 year two or three years ago. There seems to have been a lot of growth in such a short time; I was one of about 3 farangs, I think Ricky Elkins is still there (72 year old guy from London, I keep in touch with him on Facebook) I'm sure you know him or have seen him about? Also Ron the butcher who lives a couple miles down the road past the Toyota garage and does Christmas lunch for all the farangs in the area. And Som Ying, the head English teacher at the school, one of the only people who can speak English to a reasonable standard there!I miss the simplicity of life there, I'll definitely move back one day when I'm older. Take care and keep posting these great videos ! 😁🙏
Thank you Very Much Chuck! I really appreciate your Quick reply and Information On these Subjects I am getting up to Speed On What to Do and NOT do, Thanks Again! I currently Have A Girlfriend there in Thailand and She lives in Chaiya-Pom (I hope I spelled it Correctly) And When I come back in A Few Months I will be Meeting the "WHOLE FAMILY" So Again, Thank you!
aha.. so you live in That Phanom?! :) We are from Khon Kaen, or a rural village on the outskirts of Khon Kaen city. And we love to visit Nakhon Phanom, and sometimes we go through That Phanom on our way back home. Small world :) Kind regards Michael
Just happened to see your blog on buying a motorbike and got hooked on......segment on sin sod made heaps of sense....just because my situation is basically the same
I like those shoes. Looks like they'd be cushiony and easy on the feet. I've had haircuts in small villages and rural areas. They'd be set up outside their home and under a metal canopy. Years ago the cost was very cheap, about 25 baht for the works, the same price the locals pay. Very friendly people and enjoyed having a farang stop by. I might have been the first for them.
Nice Vid Chuck. I see you are pretty near Mukdahan. I will be visiting Muk this coming August. I have never been that part of the country yet. Looking forward to it.
Hello Chuck. I really am enjoying your journey. Me and my Korean wife live in Baton Rouge and have stayed in country for about 6 months in the last 10 years. Since i retired last year we are talking about a more extended stay when we return to Seoul in the near future. I love my in laws , the country and culture but like you i am challenged by the language. I am freaked out about the idea of driving in Seoul and then I saw your driving vids. I feel more emboldened to drive in Seoul now...lol
Thanks For watching. I love Korean culture I have been to Seoul in my younger years. Very cold winters though. Good luck and don't wait on your dreams.......
To save 13 minutes of your life. It's very cheap.. I live in Northen Thailand. But it all depends on your lifestyle. The best advice I could give. Is keep away from Farangs and live among the Thais. 2 years living in Thailand and very happy.
So what about buying land in the country, a small garden and cooking your own food.. what could a vet with little funds work out. Having many skills and an inventor?? Thanks..
Mr. Chuck, Sir. You sure familiar to me. I am not sure where, but maybe during military service. I am a new subscriber to your channel. I really enjoy the content very much. Very useful information for my move to Thailand soon. Keep up the great work
Hi Chuck, very cheap daily cost but what about a long time (6 months/1 year) renting house of apartment there? Easy to find? Are there also secure villages for retirees people (with extra facilities as medical services, sport, different activities?)
Chuck great video. How about doing an update video on your average daily cost. I know prices of change some, just curious how much they have changed. I'm hoping to move to Thailand this year full-time. I'm hoping also to settle in Chiang Mai maybe we can get together for a couple beers.
Hello again.. I hope im not bothering u but u seem to have very good advice n experience. My questions are approximately how much does it cost for health insurance for a 62 year old man. I have watch other videos and some says that you cannot get insurance after 60 years old and if you can do you have any recommendations health insurance companies in Thailand? Thank u very much
I think you might want to check your pricing on the video. Example the cha Yen you paid 25 Baht for actually cost $0.72. not $0.36 as mentioned. Still cheap but not that cheap.
My sister has MS. She is on the Keto Diet, no sugar no carbs, and she is doing very well! Thailand diet would be very good for MS. Her pain is nearly gone.
Why are things so much cheaper in thailand? I mean electric still cost alot to produce. Fresh vegetables are usually pricey. Really everything is reasonable..
Nice, I was in 1st ID late 80 early 90s. I recognized the 25th because my dad served in the 25th during Vietnam. Great videos! Very interesting, I'm enjoying them.
Hi Chick I Herd you say you pay the bills water lights cable satalite etc But don’t pay rent is that cause your Farther & Mother in Law own the building? Cause it was your advice why don’t bother buying property rent is so cheap.Quick question I’ve seen a few people one RUclips saying Thailand.has gotten too expensive. All I know is that my Aussie dollor gets 25baht has been around there for last 10 years plus I’m only holidaying so I don’t know if things have gotten a lot more expensive I know the whole world is getting dearer but they had a short list and Thailand was 2nd what do you think Peace.
What's the property taxes and insurance on the place? Can foreigners buy property free and clear or do you need a Thai citizen to have the name on the title? Thanks
Property tax is only for running a business out of home. As a foreigner you can own a condo, ( a Thai own the building) or 49% of property with a Thai national and with the proper long stay visa. Why own??? Lots of nice inexpensive Housing in Thailand. Don't strap yourself in.
Thanks for the insight. I too feel the hustle and expensive of the American way. The system is in a mess right now. Can you recommend a Nice CHEAP area/place to stay long term in Thailand? Is the northern part more heat manageable than the south could be? Also how long do you think a $100k could get you in years of living a frugal lifestyle? Thanks
I don't know your situation to give you an answer correctly. It is expensive to live in areas were there are an abundance of foreigners. 1/3 of the cost to live in isaan (country). A lot of people live here with there wife that spend an average of $1000.00usd a month I will recommend you to retirecheap.asia ruclips.net/channel/UCIaFkikJlZQrlCw2LUtHLNg He has a lot more insight on cost. Not as entertaining as me though. Just kidding...
That's not really correct......the vast majority or Thai's dont want to leave their Family, Friends, Culture, Food, Weather and way of Life.....cant blame em....I've been going for 15yrs......easy to find a gal to marry, until you tell her you want to live your Country.
Not entirely correct, majority want to live in Thailand, but I addict to higher income and want to go away from family/relative problem. Like myself, I quited my engineering job in Melbourne, Australia to move back to Chiangmai, Thailand. Yeah, It was really difficult at the beginning, because I compared lifestyle between two places. Once I accepted the fact that my life would be different, I started enjoyed the life. Earn less spend less!!! I spend only 150-300 per day for 4 members.
Hey m8 love your down to earth approach with your vids.Looks like a nice town.I live in Muang Prachuap khiri Khan town in the South.Really lovely seaside town .I have lived there for 2 years.I have an apartment on the beach.Definately worth checking out..if your travelling South. My line pablogruve. Keep up the good work dude.:)
No internet censorship here in Thailand and super high speed internet some things like pandora say unavailable here but I use virtual private network and they think I’m in salt lake city then it works fine
In the beginning it was pretty exciting but watching most of your video, I got the impression that the life as you live seems very monotonous. I kind of drew conclusion I can not live like that. Thanks for your video. I learned from someone else's experience.
Maybe you should watch another before drawing a conclusion. 1 1/2 years and 370 videos later, couldn't be more happy. Thanks for watching one from when I first moved to Thailand.
i am married to a Thai wife also , she`s from there but i will never live in this area. So boring there. Better you buy a condo in Pattaya man. And by the way after all the years together with Thais....why the falang always has to pay all? You not tell me they have no money please.....after all the video was good.
Thanks Chuck and Paige, I am really enjoying your no nonsense delivery on life in Thailand.
Cheers to your wife at 1:40 adorable, definitely puts a smile on a face.

Just happened to see your blog on buying a motorbike and got hooked on......segment on sin sod made heaps of sense....just because my situation is basically the same
this is great Chuck...I'll be in Thailand soon for almost a month. My first visit... it's always helpful to know how much things cost.... thank you
ASAP. I am coming to Udon for a couple of months. I am so looking forward to it. Lived in Ayuttaha for 13 years. Stuck in the US because of COVID.
I like those shoes. Looks like they'd be cushiony and easy on the feet. I've had haircuts in small villages and rural areas. They'd be set up outside their home and under a metal canopy. Nice video,a refreshing change from most Thai vlogs.......
You have such a good life in Thailand i would love to go live there soon
Great to hear actual prices - esp the monthly break down.

Yehey congratulations Chuck and Paige you reached the 40k subscriber
Holy shit! It’s like you were a total different person!! You seem MUCH happier nowadays!! 😝🎉👍🏼😊
Look like the air quality there is pretty good. Not much smog. That Phanom is one of the cities we plan to check when we retired.
It's ok city but it seems you need to learn Thai language to comfort your life.
To save 13 minutes of your life. It's very cheap.. I live in Northen Thailand. But it all depends on your lifestyle. The best advice I could give. Is keep away from Farangs and live among the Thais. 2 years living in Thailand and very happy.
Hope to visit That Panhom.
Your doing something right. Your wife is so happy! Wishing you guys the very best
I got different feeling from what you have. She seems trying to please him superficially. I wish I am wrong.
For over 20 years?
I think that I had seen all of your videos ….and bam.....2017 pops up....haha....thanks Chuck
So what about buying land in the country, a small garden and cooking your own food.. what could a vet with little funds work out. Having many skills and an inventor?? Thanks..

Hi Chuck, very cheap daily cost but what about a long time (6 months/1 year) renting house of apartment there? Easy to find? Are there also secure villages for retirees people (with extra facilities as medical services, sport, different activities?)
Some great looking houses in the back round...!
But I found the North's living expense
is usually less expensive,a and more affordable than the southern region, Is that true?
Outside tourist areas are cheap if you can live like a thai and are on a small budget. ruclips.net/video/XGOSAcMlAmE/видео.html
It gets hot there in the summer time, just wondering if you have AC there?
Bigdog Bulldog yes most houses have AC in bedrooms and family room. It is like and individual pack unit. No central Air.
Chuck great video. How about doing an update video on your average daily cost. I know prices of change some, just curious how much they have changed. I'm hoping to move to Thailand this year full-time. I'm hoping also to settle in Chiang Mai maybe we can get together for a couple beers.
Food looks fantastic.
Love your videos nice and simple
what camera are you using?
I was in That Phanom last week - They still haven't finished that big house by the park !
Don't know the story on the house. It looks western style. Probably money issues.
still have relatives there...that phanom...are you there permanently? what state are you from?
I think he covered this in his earlier vlogs, worth watching.
I love your bicycle. Raleigh, NC
Yes i traveled there last year. Beautiful place. No one has a sticker like that here. I'm a rebel without a cause. Thanks for watching......
White House? I noticed that there is lots of English signs there. Is most restaurants family style?
All restaurants here are family style in the Isean country. Some English signs.
Mostly if it is a product made outside country.
Big workout at the park: 5 chest press! lol...just teasing
Hi Paige!!!! keep that smile going! 👍
lol didn't want to show off
lol Chuck!

catch any of those large catfish? I have heard that they get to 700 pounds.
WOULD YOU RECOMMEND MOVING THERE FOR A DISABLED PERSON WITH MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS??
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR VIDEOS.
Yeah,my friend is disable and married a Thai girl,he's living very good,it not costly
I am not sure that Thailand is appropriate for a disabled person otherwise you need someone to take care of yourself during living there.
My sister has MS. She is on the Keto Diet, no sugar no carbs, and she is doing very well! Thailand diet would be very good for MS. Her pain is nearly gone.
If you some land , you can plant your own organic vegetables.
Why are things so much cheaper in thailand? I mean electric still cost alot to produce. Fresh vegetables are usually pricey. Really everything is reasonable..
because local products from street markets are cheaper, no greedy middle men.
Why do you show us how you prepare an instant coffee ?
Is that a 25th Infantry tattoo? I saw it in a couple of your videos but can't make it out.
jakej5855 Yea I got it a while back, little faded. I was stationed in Hawaii in early 90's
Nice, I was in 1st ID late 80 early 90s. I recognized the 25th because my dad served in the 25th during Vietnam. Great videos! Very interesting, I'm enjoying them.
Can you buy meat safely there ?
You can buy anything here. Safe like without growth hormones injected in it or preservatives like the west.....?
I guess it is better there without hormones, but I meant germs, cooling, food hygiene
Nice video! Are U close 2 Nong Kai???
Pravej Norlander Thanks. About a four hour drive That phanom.
PhraThat Phanom???
Pravej Norlander Yes that is the temple if you are looking at Google maps. We are 50km south of Nakhon Phanom on the mehkong river.
How much is to rent a regular size house in the countryside?
it is relatively very inexpensive. Maybe this will help. ruclips.net/video/XGOSAcMlAmE/видео.html&lc=Ugzj2CRFj6M9RvSH6p14AaABAg
5000 to 10000 baht per month
how do u find the summer heat?
It is so heat that you need air conditioned room.
Hi Chick I Herd you say you pay the bills water lights cable satalite etc But don’t pay rent is that cause your Farther & Mother in Law own the building? hi chuck,,,wow the utilities are sooo cheap, thats it, I,m retiring to Thailand,!! hehhe,,well maybe not,,
I think it would be hard to have my mother in law around all of the time.
What's the property taxes and insurance on the place? Can foreigners buy property free and clear or do you need a Thai citizen to have the name on the title?

That is funny Americans want to move to Thailand, and Thai's want to move to America. LOL
thais love IRS. lol

My wife and wish to split time between both countries.
