The Canucks played a grand total of 10min
Yeah but they were missing Boeser and Pettersen…..
Don’t forget Demko arguably best goalie on the league
no excuse for zero shots on a 4 minute pp
@@mentor3383 I really don’t like that excuse . Silovs probably played as well as Demko would have. Saying that really takes away from how well Silovs played
@@randybehm5731 wait… Pettersen is on the Canucks!!?
I am not a Canucks fan, but I look forward to watching Arturs Silovs for a long time. That kid is a Jedi in the net. Congrats to the Oilers!
I wish I had a dollar for every hot goalie that stole a series and then disappeared into obscurity. It happened to the Devils just last year. A handful of games doesn't mean squat! At the 2019 NHL Entry Draft he was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the sixth round, 156th overall. Nobody was blown away by this kid's talent before his last playoff appearance. Time will tell.
@@karlheinzvonkroemann2217 to be fair, he did it at the World’s last year as well.
Yeah we’ve never seen a young goalie light up the league only to fall off the map on year 3. Oh wait that happens all the time.

To reinforce how good Edmontons PK is by not letting the opposing team setup, Edmonton purposely didnt try to score a goal with the net empty at the risk of an icing and Vancouver winning the faceoff.
AHHHH it all makes sense now, genius!
wow that is a smart remark damnnn
Edmonton’s Achilles heel is goaltending and every player on the team knows they have to shelter the shots that get through which is why their PK is so good. You want your goaltender to bail you out once in a while. Silov’s was doing that all series and you look at Bobrovsky, Ottinger or Saros and they do the same. Skinner is not that kind of goalie. The Garland goal was a defensive zone mistake but it’s a saveable shot for some goalies. As an Edmonton Fan I worry that Ottinger is going to be the difference in the next series.
Skinner obtuse and he save when the puck hit him.
Great point.. the oilers were brutal at the faceoff all series. I think 3 of the game winning or tying goals from the canucks were off a lost draw I the d zone.. pissed me off lol
Canucks only started to play with 10 minutes left on the game. They needed to show up 6 periods ago

Amen. They really, really did not look like a team that wanted to be playing hockey in May. Silovs dragged them that far by pure will.
@@DrunkenGrognardyes 💯 Silovs carried the entire bloody team on his head. Would have been nice to see this effort from the rest of the team … 🙄
I just want to emphasize that on a 4 minute powerplay, the _only shot on net_ was shorthanded. That Oilers PK was unbelievably good.
Canucks pp has struggled for awhile so idk how that’s a big accomplishment

As an oilers fan, I am really proud of the Canucks. How far they have come under coach tocchet's leadership is remarkable. And how well the Canucks played while missing key players... Impressive!
This series could have gone either way, with both teams bringing so much skill and passion.
lol.....LOSERS
Canuck fans, just remember, dont razz us all season and call our team "two man" team who can't play defense, should we lose to you 4 games again in the regular season. Its the playoffs where it matters. 😉 Lastly, how much you want for Silovs?
@@user-bi6yf4hv9g mcdavid and Draisaitl for silovs
@@user-bi6yf4hv9g oilers played against a crippled canucks team, lets get a time machine and give draisaitl and mcdavid a blood clotting issue to keep them out of game 7 and whatever issue pettersson has had since the ASG and we'll see how history goes. Demko in net for bonus points since the biggest factor in those 4 regular season games was having the 1st line goalie shutting down your 2 stars
Either way your weird posturing aside it was a good series and it was anyone's game to win in game 7. The healthier team won, otherwise it was neck and neck.
@@user-bi6yf4hv9g silovs is with the canucks for a while now.
You can have desmith though.
As if Cody Ceci opens the scoring in game 7. That was pretty much game over right there.
He did the same thing in game 7 against the Kings a few years ago.
Yup if Ceci is scoring, your pretty much a loser
For me it was the double pk that almost ended the game, and I think it fully would have had Brown scored but even his chance hurt Vancouvers mentality
Ceci is acually really dangerous.. he needs to take more shots. you know he won hardest shot in the edmonton skills comp? he has a LAZER beam of a shot. Not saying hes as accurate as bouchard, but hes got some toast
yall underestimate ceci but hes not a bad player at all, he seems to focus on getting the puck to others rather than taking the shots himself, but i hope he starts taking the shots cuz hes really capable !
If Edmonton had Silovs I would think that they would win the cup, what an amazing performance by the rookie, future looks bright in Vancouver. Now let’s put the toxic bs behind and enjoy the rest of these playoffs
Oilers goalie coach would ruin Silovs. Canucks have the goalie whisperer Ian Clark, who develops Vezina caliber goalies.
Indeed, after Edmonton hired Coffey, the defence suddenly started doing a lot better, now to get a good goalie coach, and they're set
The only time they turned on the desperation and actually took risks was in the last 3 minutes of the game. As a fan of both Van and WPG, I got major Winnipeg vibes from this game! No push-back whatsoever and the amount of stupid penalties taken (I know officiating was brutal, but still) was a major part of their downfall. It felt like they were scared to skate into the open ice and opted to just "drop pass" and loop around 90% of their offence zone entrances.
I'm a Winnipeg fan also and I've been saying that's the past two Canucks games. So disappointing.
I’d say not scoring on a 4 minute power play is what killed them. They had a 4 minute power play last game they didn’t score on either. Credit Edmontons PK.
That's mostly because the Oilers stopped pressuring. Idk why they think that's the best way for them to defend a lead but they do for some reason
Oilers are too good on transition not to respect it, and I think they learned that lesson in game 1. That first game showed Vancouver the only way they'll win consistently: try to weather the Edmonton storm and wait them out until they ease up and then strike with reckless abandon and hope to fluster the Oilers. It came close to working in game 4 and game 7, and might have worked across the board if not for Canuck injuries - but it is what it is.
@@ipwnreviewer definitely a wake up call. Their offence looked night and day different than regular season. They would constantly 2-1 forecheck to apply pressure in the defensive end to force turnovers. They were not doing that at all this series.
Hughes was tired and banged up. He couldn't even skate in the 3rd period. Oilers were hard on him physically and it worked.
We can honestly thank nashville for that
He’ll do what McKinnon did and come back next year stronger, tougher, bigger and faster.
You add in the Nashville series, his frail weak body isn’t suitable for the playoffs.

What happened? Silovs was the only Canuck that showed up to every game this series.
I mean Edmonton had its moments like Ryan McLeod hasn’t showed up all playoffs including round 1. Perry was benched they had to swap goalies because Skinner was bad. The difference is Skinner found his game again Nuge woke up , Kane woke up , McDavid woke up. Still need Perry and McLeod to wake up in the next round here.
I thought Garland was the most dangerous Canuck.
@@ryans413 Absolutely agree! Didn’t mean to take anything away from Edmonton. They progressively got better every game in the series, they found their groove and were overall the better team. Games 6 and 7 showcased that.
Every game? Then it wouldn’t have gone to 7
@@danielnam9026 And then boser when he played that was a critical loss
I'm honestly quite surprised this series was so close, Vancouver did an excellent job of making the most of their opportunities even though Edmonton had control most of the time. I'm glad Edmonton didn't choke it away though, they didn't let those late game comebacks get to them and it gives me some confidence that the Dallas series will be competitive.
I think Edmonton matches up better with Dallas than they did with Vancouver. That sounds crazy I know but Toc ran Vancouver hard against Edmonton but it seemed like game 6 and 7 Edmonton finally figured out Vancouver. Edmontons biggest issue is going to be the goalie of Dallas.
Me too. I wasn't expecting it to go 7 games but the Canucks are legit.

No excuses for the 1st and 2nd period. In the last 15 mins of the 3rd period, the Canucks showed up. But too little, too late, the effort they put in the last 15 mins was admirable, but we needed that in the 1st and 2nd, the full 60 mins! No full 60, no goals on the power play, and passengers cost us the game again and at a crucial time, when it really mattered.
There are several sensible reasons why a team might play 'better' in the final 15 minutes than in the first period, mostly having to do with RISK. The Canucks simply could not risk digging a big hole early in the game against a team like Edmonton. They opted to balance offence/ defense to give themselves a shot at actually hanging in there, and actually succeeded in keeping open a chance of winning! Kudos!
@@eamonnmorris5331 I appreciate your opinion, alas, I will stick with my opinion!

The Canucks are only successful when their D activates and helps push a puck control game. See game 5. Instead of playing to win they chose playing to not lose in games 6 and 7. Didn’t work.

Every team is gonna lose bro
@cindybates68 Haters gotta hate. Vancouver is a really good team. They are position for some very good years ahead. I would just appreciate it if they didn’t spend so much draft capital, be like Dallas and use that capital to compliment your team. You’ll need those cap friendly entry level contracts.
@@michaelmaier5565 the development of the players in the ahl is key , you aint gonna build a winner with 2 lines , look at toronto 1/2 cap to 5 players...
@cindybates68 Facts and that’s exactly why Dallas is favoured to win. Vancouver made a huge mistake trading prospects and draft capital in year one of their window.
I think Vancouvers problem is they treated Edmonton like Nashville, that series was WAY more defensive, a lot of collapsing to the net to block passes and shots but Oilers are an offensive powerhouse if you give them that extra time and space and especially in game 6 you can really see how thats beneficial for Edmonton. Vancouver didnt properly adjust to Edmontons different style of play again really evident in the last 2 games of this series.
Canucks had way too many passengers. Listening to Tocchet, he knew his team wasn’t going to win. They couldn’t execute and just prayed for flukey, lucky bounces.
@@danielnam9026 Garland, Lindholm and Boeser are keepers, they tried their hearts out. Pettersson is worrysome. Right now hes the weak link. Could end up like another Marner if hes not careful.

Lmao the wheel of excuses.
You never had a chance in this series. What happened is the significantly better team won. You bums were outshot 25-4 in the first half. You didn't even look like an NHL team until Edmonton sat back to rest for Dallas, and then after the 2nd goal, the Oilers didn't allow a single shot. You got utterly destroyed
What do you mean what was with they got destroyed in games 6 that’s what happened
One player isn’t why Vancouver lost. Vancouver lost because Vancouver sucks.
Sucks eh? Sure bud.

This was one of the hardest games to watch so far. Canucks played like they were day dreaming of being in Cabo 😂
As a Vancouverite, I'm happy they didn't make a comeback as they did not deserve to move on with how they played the past 2 games.
They didn’t deserve to beat Nashville but they got lucky and did.
Your guys put in a decent effort without their top scorer or top goalie, but also this is possibly the end of the cup contention window for the Oilers. So a mix of Edmonton having experience, reasons to want it more, and better players is a lot for Canucks to make up for with systems and grit.

Been loving these breakdowns! Was hoping this video would cover Stars and Avs game 6 though with Duchene's "goalie interference"... Hopefully that vid is still coming :)
Pettersen was a let down, but honestly it was a team effort. Just so weird how they were so hot/cold. They have the ability to dominate, but for whatever reason would just go long periods without wanting it. Seemed like a lack of drive to me. Oilers wanted it more. Amazing year, lots of great things to pull out of that season, just need to add some scoring to the mix and they will be unstoppable.
Was pulling for the Canucks but the better team won based on just about every metric. I think after the all-out effort to grab Game 5 VAN simply ran out of gas with this version of the Canucks not having a tremendous amount of playoff experience but credit to the Canucks for taking it to 7 and once again almost providing a miracle without Boeser and Demko. EDM also adjusted and played really great D those last two games. As to their chance against DAL, of course there is a chance - this is the playoffs and anything can happen. On paper DAL has a depth edge but EDM has played excellent on both the PK and PP so special teams could definitely be a favorable check mark in EDM box. It should be a tremendous series and one that goes long.

Sounds like you're qualified to be in a management position in the Vancouver Canucks organization.
@@ThePsychoReturns The Canucks management is arguably the best part of the canucks so that's not the burn you think it is. Allvin/Rutherford made some great moves this year and the coaching staff is Tocc/Foote/Gonchar/The Sedins and while you can criticise some playoff tactics, they were beasts all year. Yeah the PP obviously needs work but overall the actual bones of the team are top quality.
Hey man, really nice title! You might feel it's simple and boring, but it's really helpful for us who really care and rewatch later and stuff. Great work. Love the anti-highight callouts too, like Mikheyev's stone hands and Connor Brown shooting it right at the logo. Describes a lot of beer leaguers (including myself) lool.
Anyone know if Van's D-zone passive was like that in their wins? Because if so, it's prob not the reason they lost like the vid kind of insinuates. I feel like the Oilers are actually much better than the Nucks, but played down to their level. Every loss EDM had was a blown lead. My bracket is 100% so far, but with EDM having top PP/PK, I'm actually convinced they might beat Dallas.
Shame Nucks could only muster 10min of high level-play w/o Boeser, it was great ending but took way to long to get. Wasn't unexpected though, an unexperienced team needs to go through a loss like that. That's why I never had them exiting Rd2.
Edmontons adjustments were pretty impressive. Vancouver doesn’t have skill players that can hold on to the puck when the faster more skilled players pressure them.
Silovs was a beast for them and the only one keeping them in the game
Zadorovs Giant head caused increased gravity to the entire team.
I am a long-time Canucks' fan. Fair game assessment.
I do believe the better team won as you can't expect to win games/series when you generate as few shots and converted powerplays as the Canucks. At the same time, my hope in the team has been rekindled by their never-give-up attitude/play this year and some of the up-and-coming young players. I hope that somehow we can build on this success by adding a few more contributing forwards with the heart of a lion- like JT Miller.
I have trust in the management and coaching staff to make sound decisions for the team based on the limited team salary cap space available. My biggest beef is the overpaid self-proclaimed superstars, who demand big salaries and then do not largely show up in the big-time games (ie. Petterson) as that is my definition of a true superstar. I believe some of the overpaid egos are hurting the team and the league as a whole as the Playoffs certainly establish that it takes a cohesive team of warriors to go all the way to the cup. Yes, I am talking to you Toronto and Edmonton.
Canucks are back in the Playoffs, they can build on this if they make smart additions and trades. Tocchet’s style of coaching tends to burn players out over a long season leaving little left for the Playoffs. Plus it doesn’t help that Canucks superstars are small and easy targets in Playoff hockey. I think that shocked them a bit in the past few weeks.
I don't think one team was better than the other. Would love to see playoffs redux match where both teams are at 100%. Vancouver had way too many health issues to say that they were a "worse team" than the oilers here.

I feel like the Canucks came off a lot better in this series than I felt they should have. Having to come from behind in almost every game and you can imagine the lack of urgency in the early stages of each game would catch up to them. Crucially in the long term , getting halfway into the playoffs should mean that this core has some decent playoff experience now.
Demko/Silovs will be fun though.
Agree - been saying the same. EDM played down to them by flubbing all their leads, but I agree this was very valuable playoff experience. I trust your guys' coaching to see that truth and get GMJR to pick up some offensive support in the offseason for a real deep run (rather than a miracle one like the Habs in '21).
This was a fun series to watch
As a lifelong Canucks fan, I had a strong fear that the Canucks would crumble from home ice 'flopsweat' syndrome. After they did nothing on the 4 min PP in the first, i sensed that was game over. Sadly, this suspicion turned out to be accurate.
But overall, to make it to game 7 in the second round, essentially without the services of both Petterson and Demko, is pretty impressive. Here's hoping this is the beginning of regular post season appearances by the team. Now, aside from decisions on who to resign in the off season, the biggest mystery, the Elephant in the room : wtf is up with EP40? Confidence issues? Too skinny for the post season? The Canucks have always had confidence problems that can haunt any team that has never won a cup. With that said, they were a better team this year than we have witnessed in the past.
Good regular season team, but they were playoff pretenders. They had way too many passengers and that mindset carried throughout the second round.
The third string goalie was the only one to show up all the time. Sadly we are not a playoff team and got carried far beyond our capabilities, nucks were outshot almost every single period and most games were just one goal games. Need a full rebuild except for the goalies and a few of the defence, why is Myers allowed on the ice? At all? Also, having 11 million being invisible is what the makemelaughs do, don't go full leafblower, never go full leafblower...

Great oiler Canuck round!
Oilers in seven games against Dallas!
The Bouchard goal was credited to Hyman. It went off Hyman before going in the net.
Calvin Picard really impressed me. He played great all season and for him to step up in games 4 and 5 allowed Skinner to regroup for games 6 and 7. Skinner is a young goalie. He's solid in net but not fantastic. I think he has the potential to be great but he sometimes struggles under pressure. For Picard to step in and take some of the weight off Skinner's shoulders was great to see as an Oilers fan.
Garland and Silovs were there for the whole game, everyone else was sleeping
They have a great team! Unfortunately they’re just young playoff wise. The lack of playoff experience as a team definitely shows. Good run canucks!

I'm a Wings fan but I'm hoping the Oilers get it done. Connor McDavid's name belongs on the cup.
im a habs fan and me too. idk why so many people are rooting against them. It's good for the league if Mcdavid wins a cup
Silovs is amazing. Him with a healthy Demko will be a tough duo . Hope to see canucks move further along next season
You have to note one of the canucks biggest weaknesses was shooting accuracy. Less than 16% of their shots were even on target; thats not all blocked shots, sometimes you just need to get it on net
Im not a Canuck fan but you guys should be very proud of yr team. Yr goalie was outstanding.
Gar has been my guy all year, but Petey let me down long before they gave him that inflated contract. Great team, but I knew Oilers would go further this year. Excellent series!
Cody Ceci has scored in BOTH game 7's he has played in as an Oiler including a series winner in 2022, he is basically Justin Williams at the point, obviously.
It’s just sad how they played 😢
as an oilers fan i would rather play against demko just cause as i see it silovs came into this series ready to make his mark with everything to lose he was playing for his life between the posts i just feel he brought more passion than demko wouldve and i think he really showed he belongs theres gonna be alot of teams looking to pick him up as a backup and maybe even a starter he stood on his head that entire series the mans an animal
Tocchet preaches quality and quantity with SOG. You can't do that in the playoffs in a must win. The problem with Vancouver is they were too passive. Sure their defense is great but they need better offense. Trading Kuzmenko was a mistake.
I can't with the Cody ceci reference 😂
Just a crazy good series. 6/7 games decided by one goal. Two teams very well put together, but Edmonton’s high end skill set them apart. Too bad I couldn’t watch it because their games are always on when I go to bed lol
Someone give this Silovs kid a starting contract STAT. Kid played his butt off, stats be damned. They aren’t everything.
the canucks can get a really good trade for silovs
I’ll be honest I do not watch the canucks but I watched every game this series and there would be stretches of 10+ minutes where I completely forgot Quinn Hughes even existed. I would only remember he was even on the team when the announcers would mention him playing for UofM or the camera zooming in on his face. Definitely didn’t do enough to help his team
Don't see enough about this. He deserves being called out, being Captain and all. For sure wasn't a sole reason, but Pettersson got a lot of flak - so should he. Boeser and JT need more help than a random bad Zadorov goal from the line only due to goalies being in reverse-VH lol
usually when you don't hear a defensmens name that means he4 is doing his "defensive" job , but at the end of the day vancouver and toronto are the same , LOSERS!!!
injured/exhausted. looked like he could barely skate by game 7. not normal for him to be slow like that
whoa.. that 3 secs left TJ Miller shot looked like was going in if it wouldn't be for Z leg
Rangers vs Canucks Stanley cup rematch would've been pretty cool. The game has changed dramatically in the last 30 years.
that bit of shade thrown at cici lmao
Without brock they looked like they didn’t believe they could win and it showed
If the Oilers can come back from 30th in the League in November to West Coast Finals in May? I think anything is possible with team.
People forget that the Oilers were the best team in the league in every category since January 1st.
Silovs did a fantastic job being thrown into the playoffs like he was. Has the potential to be a star for sure.
WE NEED THE RECAP OF ROUND 2 and ROUND 3 PREVIEW
Hughes kind of disappeared offensively in this series and nobody can seem to figure out why. He wasn't getting punished like he was against Nashville. Pettersson has to be better too. During the bubble run, both those guys were absolute money.. you have to think that maybe they were hurt. With a 3rd string goalie, barely getting 20 shots per game, they had no business being in a Round 2 Game 7. Silovs is absolutely the playoff MVP for Vancouver, and he's got a bright future and is likely the defacto backup now. If they can learn to play 60 minute hockey games, they'll be deadly in years to come. So far this core has seen two 2nd round Game 7s against teams that are contenders, still 5 more Round 2 wins since 2020 than the Leafs have in over 20 years.

We dont have the same definition of "wide open cage"
If I was Silovs and looked at the SOG diff, id be soo livid. Hope they put him as the main goalie next season
when a series goes 7 games and that 7th game is a 1 goal difference, it means either team could’ve won… Canucks could’ve won too if a few bounces went a different way🤷🏻♂️…. like Nuge’s goal came from a lucky bounce …. but i am happy EDM won because i have the correct final 4 for my bracket 😂
I do too... oh wait.... canes blew it... again.... no I'm still not over it. Go "giant meteor". Go Edmonton.
@@JH22533 😆
Had skinner played as well as he did in games 6 and 7, the Oilers would have swept this series. Vancouver out played them in game 5, that's it. Stop acting like this series was close, it wasn't. Edmonton absolutely dominated the Canucks
Almost every goal the Canucks scored all series were lucky bounces, put in off a defender or tipped in. They used up all their luck.
The west I almost got perfect I had Edmonton Dallas round 3 just how the teams got there i didn’t get right. The east is totally screwed up for me lol
It seemed like a constant trend for them: they'd float around for 50 minutes, then put on the boosters for the last 10. It worked against Nashville, but Edmonton's a much better team (tho it did work in g1).
Their complete abandonment of game 6 could have played a factor too. They never even pulled the goalie. Did nothing to try and get a spark to bring into game 7. Just gave up completely. That’s foolish in the playoffs I think. Momentum means so much and can be hard to just build up from scratch. If they at least went down fighting, they could keep that going potentially. Instead they just played the same way they did in a lot of game 6 for most of game 7. It’s not everything, but a contributing factor it is for sure I think.
Zadorov chasing Kane into the corner when he doesn't even have the puck was extra stupid. Game 7 is not the time to settle scores. Too bad now we've got just one Canadian team left to cheer for.
*My nightmare scenario a Florida / Dallas final* I'd rather have a colonoscopy.
🤣
Love to see this Cunucks team do so well
I hope the NJ Devils were watching this series… Methinks that they are looking for good goaltending. Silovs is young, and playoff tested with a team that played the “prevent defense” in front of him.
Do you seriously think Vancouver is going to trade Silovs now?
@@jonbenjisnomore7935 Watching the Devils and the other Hughes brothers play, one can only hope, right?
I think they were mentally exhausted from defending the 2 best players in the world. The core players who aren't leaving in FA, got valuable experience. It was a great season.
They went up against Gretzky 2.0 and the future Stanley cup champs that’s what happened
That Connor Brown breakaway looked like something you would see at the C league drop in session in South Carolina.
🙄
As a Panthers fan, I was rooting for Carolina and Vancouver... I want for this year to be ours, and thought Carolina and Vancouver would be easier opponents than all others in the East and West.... Let's go Panthers!!! 💪
There are no easy opponents in the playoffs 😂
That's why I said easier never said easy.
