Who besides myself discovered this helpful trick in a less than helpful way? I was a young man pre-internet and decided to attempt a 2 tone on a mach-1 I had already laid the decals onto. Thinking I was being clever I decide the Mach 1 striping was a great place to set my split in my 2 tone. Laid the tape directly over the decals and sprayed away. Following day came and I couldn't wait to see my masterpiece. All I could do was shake my head and ask WTF?
Hi Ed! I feel I got really lucky!! Also that weird masking tape seems to be a low tack. So that helped! Don't think I will be that confident doing this again. 😉
Well, glad you have this video BG.... Looks like I will be doing this for the first time after failing to get stripes on a mustang to lay down properly 🙃
Nice trick. I’ll have to remember that! Thanks for sharing Bryan. 🇨🇦😎
Glad that the decals came off and your paint job was saved. Can't wait to see your next video. Take care & stay safe Bryan.😀

Thanks Tom! Sadly the household was struck by the flu. Getting back to normal now, but it took a precious few days from my build schedule.
Nice little trick you showed us all and your right it's a good weathering tip to thank you for sharing
Nicely done Bryan, I didn't think it would work that well, and the paint it still there, bonus. 😀
😁
Awesome video

I have used clear "Scotch" tape before but if not careful (or lucky) it will pull up paint too. Looks like the masking tape worked really well!

Boy am I glad it didn’t ruin your paint job, I’d have to check the locks on the doors😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣 nah, I just would have you thumbs down on videos for the rest of my life! 😁
@@BGsModelWorkshop haha, I have a phantom thumbs downer already. Consistently every video.
@@ScaleModelExperiment don't we all! I bet it's the same dude. 😉
Were the decals applied using Microset & Microsol or similar? It may make a difference.
Oh yes, I use that stuff religiously. The issue was placing them over a sanded surface. Wouldn't let them settle down and seal.
Try not to stick the tape so well it makes the decals look old then you can weather .great video BG
Thank Mike!! I do want to try this on a weathered build some time. See if we can perfect that technique!
Oh, it turned into a weathered build.
Almost!!
Nice!
