  • This is my first ride using the SVC 200 action cam. Typical UK weather. I have stuck on a Rycote wind jammer as the wind noise is shockingly bad (still quite bad with the windjammer on).
    Next step will be to put an external mic into my lid to help reduce wind noise even further and hopefully start motovloging.
    ill also do an amateur review of my Honda VFR Nc30 too.
    Hope anyone that finds this video enjoys it (its not the most action packed video made).

    Yeagh Sam; I'm working on my sound today. Please try my 'Country Lanes' video for more about horse muck! I think in towns, it SHOULD be cleaned up. Oh and by the way, dog owners DON'T always clear up their mess; this area is filthy with it!
    Cheers!

      Haha cheers mate. It's better on the other video because I took out a lot of the wind noise by using £2 microphone lol 👍

    Hi Sam- good piece (despite the weather) but I am using a Sony 30 and I think the electronic steady makes a BIG difference. Although I'm still working on the terrible mount and no external mic facility! Cheers

      Cheers mate. I was considering buying the sony a30 but nearly double the price so I guess you get what you pay for 👍. I thought they did have an external mic option?
      Check out my other vid where I added an external mic that cost £1.50! Makes a massive difference in terms of eliminating the wind noise!

      +Sam Foster Sam, I am waiting for my SVC arriving in the post. Buying on the strength of people like Techmoan's reviews. anyway one reviewer says he uses an old phone earbud and mic with the earbud cut off, says it works great? might give that a try. Dave UK

      Hi Dave. Yeah it is a good camera for the money, but really needs a mic to stop the awful wind noise and weird ringing noise you get when it can't pick up sound. I bought a 2.5 - 3.5mm mic adapter and a 3.5mm mic off ebay (total cost was like £3 lol) and it works perfectly (as demonstrated in my "honda XR 400 review"). I would just buy that setup rather than cutting stuff but each to their own I guess and if it works for next to no money, winnning! :)

    0.41 into your journey and you get a knobhead worthy of a headshake. That might even beat my record.

      Paul Groves lol I just knew when I was approaching the round that he wasn't going to wait. Thanks for the quick comment too :).

      ***** No worries my friend. I was thinking of getting that camera actually, been using the Muvi HD for a while but it its a bit high profile and doesn't have an internal mic. Have you tested this with the mic at all?

      Paul Groves Ignore that, I just found your horse poo video :-)

      lol no worries mate.
      Yeah pretty decent quality considering the external mic cost me about £2.50 on eBay haha. I think there are better cameras now though.

      For that price though? I've found it for £80. Haven't seen a good res camera with a mic input cheaper than that.

    Hi. Id like to know about the mic setup please
    Ive ordered a cheap ebay mic and 2.5 adaptor
    Both jacks have 4 poles (in the pics at least)
    I havent received yet
    Do i need a powered mic?

    • @samst3r20
      @samst3r20  8 лет назад +1

      Hi mate, I did the exact same. Ordered a 3.5mm mic I believe, then ordered a 2.5 - 3.5mm adapter. All cost about £4 off eBay, thought I'd give it a go to see if it worked and it did! Seemed to work really well as you've seen in my other vids so for the money well worth while. I've since sold the SVC200 cam, will one day go for the Sony as they have image stabilization etc, but for the money the SVC was a great camera! Hope this helps. Sam.

      Yeah takes a while to arrive but mine came with a load of spares which was very handy! I'm sure you'll be happy with the quality for the money you paid

    Any footage with the waterproof case on?

    • @samst3r20
      @samst3r20  9 лет назад

      Hi bacon.
      I think this may have been using the waterproof case. I would recommend avoiding using the camera without an external mic if you are doing speeds of 30mph + just due to the wind noise.
      What's the reason you would like the waterproof case on?
      Cheers
      Sam

      Hi, how do i use external mic and case at the same time? It rains 24/7 in UK :/

    • @samst3r20
      @samst3r20  9 лет назад

      I just bought a 2.5mm to 3.5mm jack, then bought a 3.5mm microphone (both cost no more than £2 each) and then plugged it into the camera and go 👍.
      I haven't modified my waterproof case to video and record using the mic at the same time, but if you could drill a small hole in the back of the case I'm sure you could poke the microphone wire through.
