I have most of this covered, but i thought i would watch as i was just E-Doodling. Well, i was surprised at your demonstration and explanation. Well done. I love that Punk track. Everything is tight, fluent and has a great relationship with each track. Cheers .
If you don’t understand compression after watching this video then it's time to simplify your approach and revisit the basics, because compression isn't as complicated as it seems. Well explained 👏
I know how to use compression and I for the most part agree. Fast attack and slow releases move things in the back, slow attack and fast release up front.
I find it fascinating how music is actually a thing despite not really existing, but it still represents physical forms of our reality. The fact we can even bring concepts such as sounding “far away” is crazy to me. There has to be some deeper evolutionary reason for this, or as Schopenhauer said music is the highest form of art; a direct manifestation of the Will that bypasses the physical world and speaks to the essence of our inner being. Sorry for the weird comment, but I’ve always thought about how we can “see” songs when we mix, but nobody really thinks more deeply into this. I’ve never considered compression as a tool in doing so, and your graph visualised it well.
@@Trackbeatz23 i’m glad you enjoyed! I’m always trying to provide real value in such an oversaturated space. In the spirit of this, you should really check out my link in the description where I offer to “Fix your mix”. Enjoy, and have a fantastic week!
Great vid Eli! , I am struggling to GLUE my master/mix, would be cool if you can make a video explaining how to use compression on your 1.Drum Bus 2.Instrument Bus 3.Bass Bus 4.and Master and when is compression too much, is it okay to have all these compressions on all the busses and on master as well... please! thank you!🙌
I understand compression conceptually but I usually can't hear the difference between the bypassed and active examples in tutorial videos :\ More ear training it is!
after 15 years of producing i rarely use compression or limiters these days. i just to mix to zero and redline the master. wait thats a lie i use analogue compressors for saturation but thats it. if the mix is good it doesnt need mastering. on the master channel mine has nothing its completely empty. your master track is lying to you if it hits red its usually false unless you actually hear distortion. when you bounce the track it will level out to 0db again 32bit wav anything under put dither on. just dont go pass 0db on your other tracks master is fine. i promise you will have loudness and dynamics intact after this and it shows you there and then when a problem occurs. i dont use clippers anymore either. also reference other tracks if you get stuck
my mom will surely enjoy this video about compression
0:54 The fact that the suit just disappeared after 😂😂
thank you. i finally feel like i understand compression

I want this guy to teach me every mixing technique in a suit 👌
my mom became a DJ after this video, you have talent bro could be a video from a 100k+ sub channel

Sooo good, thank you!

Great Job
Thank you for the feedback and encouragement! Let me know what you’d like to see next.
@@eli.jonesy equalizer I like crispy vocals
Very helpful thanks.
Damn this really helped me, I have been playing compressors all wrong. btw this suitable for mixing and mastering right
Yes, but you wanna be careful with compression on mastering because it’s easy to quickly take all the energy away. I’ll do another video on this.
God bless you sir
You don't know what you give to me 🎉🎉

@eli.jonesy you are a real G! Thanks bro will watch it soon👏
lol bro really came through with suit haha
Keep wearing the suit!

Despite you using fl studio it is really a great synthesis on compression . I care for an up-front equilibrium in my personal daily life
nothing wrong with fl studio its just a lot of beginners use it thus the bad name
It was the cheapest option (besides Reaper) when I started out 7 years ago!
🐐
Cool video, but where can I listen to your mixes? I'm very skeptical of video titles like that
Hello. I'm working on trying to build a digital portfolio of my stuff. The RUclips channel is part of that effort!

Thank you for your in-depth tip! I'll do a video inspired by this comment soon. Stay tuned for next week's video!
Hard to hear what is happening with all the reverb
I appreciate your feedback! I’ll do my best to make everything as clear as possible in future videos. Tune in next week!
Dude you should have edited yourself in a tee shirt after the suit comment 😅
Oh, you’re NOT selling a 12-video course? Guess I’ll use this $150 for something else.
Have a dislike!
The problem isn't compression it's the arrangement. The vocals and guitars are in the same octave. Amateur move...😮
Hey, thanks for the feedback! I'll be sure to let the artist know. In the mean time, get ready to tune into this week's video!
lol
