Now this is one fancy range finder! Talk about attention to detail, this product looks solid! Love the woodgrain on the front and that display under the eyesight is crazy! Looks like something James Bond would use out there on the course! Great review Gabe!
I bought a z82 based on your recommendation. Would Love to watch ur comparison of both. Having an oled to see the hole layout without needing to view within the scope is more convenient i think and faster in assessing a particular hole. But if ur gonna look at the rangefinder anyway to check actual pin yardage then z82 would be better because you have in site both hole layout and actual pin yardage. So both are very cool. Being a golf tech geek myself, wont mind having both gadgets. Hehe
Nice review! Not in the market for one, but this one has cool features. The green slope feature is cool ! A few months ago i bought a used Bushnell Hybrid GPS/Laser range finder which has the “lock on” vibrate feature. Love it. Best of both worlds. Gives EOF and EOB etc. yardages and the typical front middle and back of green distances. It’s all i need.
This is one of the most popular rangefinders in Korea! It's pretty much everywhere. Minimi is the other popular rangefinder in Korea. I guess they like small rangefinders here.
@@LetsPlayThru yup it's a Korean company. Pretty much every golfer in Korea uses a rangefinder and clips it on their belt behind them. The minimi is nice because it's small so it's very popular amongst the women golfers but feature wise it's much less than the SL2. The voice caddie SL1 tour gold edition was also very popular last year because of the bling factor. Personally I use a Garmin approach watch after watching one of your reviews!
Gabe, you get all the cool stuff!!! I bet when your in the middle of hours of editing videos...you say I have the best job in the world. As always love the content, keep it up
So, just finished testing the SL2 this weekend…it’s a great device. However, that screen is so small if you are far-sighted, that it’s useless unless you wear glasses…I also found it vibrating and locking, but then giving me nothing for a reading a few times. And, it will vibrate and lock sometimes when it’s a tree or something behind the green and not the pin…In the end, after trying the SL2, the ShotScope ProLX, and the Garmin Z82, I’m going to stick with my Leupold and then just use my Arccos app on my iPhone/Apple Watch Ultra for the front-middle-back and hazards yardages…wasn’t worth the $500 to replace my current setup. The Garmin Z82 came closest to what I’m looking for, which is a one system to replace my laser range finder and Arccos sensors…but, as I’ve mentioned in that review of the Z82, the need to touch the club to the sensor, while a great idea, isn’t very practical because you need to wear the sensor on your belt to really do it properly, and then it’s hard to read the data without removing it from your belt…if you leave it on the unit, then you have issues when you’re on the green as you don’t carry your rangefinder to the green…so, it came close, but just missed…
Just got my voice caddie sl2 in today, let me tell you this thing is freaking awesome! Crystal clear screens, and it’s so much easier to shoot the pin then my old coolshot 50i. The vibration is strong and zone in is quick even with my shaky hands. The design is so fancy is almost girly:-), build like a high end purse, 😂 I wish they will have built in magnet so I can attach it to my cart, that case it come with is so tight I kept push the mode button when I try to get it out. I do have a question for you, how do I turn the unit off when I’m done with the round? Or it just shows screen is locked? Maybe it needs a function to turn off the unit too. Thanks!
Hi Ian, well a couple reasons, firstly I like to have a benchmark that I know to be accurate and usually a different type of tech, and secondly...it wasn't charged up! haha :) Going to go head to head with that one in a future vid though.
My wife got me one for Christmas. Not on the course yet but I find if you grasp the finder with thumb and middle finger or slides out of the case easily. I think you want a snug fit to avoid damage. Are the two hooks on the side for tees?
Thank you, another informative review! I especially keyed in on the retro look and the touchscreen, possibly a good match with my Garmin S62 you recommended. I do not think the case issue would matter to me, I would most likely have the viewfinder out of the case while I was on the course. Keep them coming Gabe!
I LOVE the style of this one for sure. It would def be a good fit and if in the Garmin universe already the Z82 is worth a look as well I'd say. Thanks Steven!
Much more going on with it than I expected, that's for sure. Really loved the features. Won't be for everyone certainly, but as a tech geek, I was loving it.
A few basic questions on this unit as the manual is kinda lacking… I understand what Tournament mode is and why you’d turn that on or off…but what is Basic Mode? Also… what does Touch Lock do?…as my unit acts exactly the same with it enabled and not enabled… Thanks!
I was just thinking... "How does it compare to the Z82" and you said it! Have you received any info on the Bushnell Launch Pro yet? I'd like to see how that will compare to the Garmin Approach R10. I'm assuming the Bushnell will be priced way higher.
I’m hoping to get my hands on one in the next few weeks 🤞From what I can see from the initial photos it looks like it’s going to compete in a different price bracket from R10
@@LetsPlayThru Hi. I own Z82. Great device but in my opinion display/viewfinder vs Bushnell is not so good. Viewfinder is smaller. Hard to compete with touch screen Looking forward to see h2h
Love the video really inform but can you also do the comparison between garmin approach z82 and this voice caddie sl2 I’m looking to get a rangefinder and gps want to make sure I get the best of both world Appreciate it
Hi and thanks for all your videos! I have one question: between Voice Caddie SL2 and Garmin Z82 which one will you choose? I want to buy one and I don't know which one I should pick up... Or maybe Voice Caddie T9 watch? Honest please!
That carabiner feels chinsey, but it’s probably high end super light titanium. Being a rock climber, those things feel soooooo cheap, but they can hold up a car…LOL!! That thing is awesome! I have an 8 year old Leupold that I thought was really awesome, but this is great. Mine does slope and club suggestion, along with taking weather into account, but doesn’t have the screen…that’s cool! BTW, why would you say the Nikon is more accurate of the two when there were two different readings separated by just a yard or two? However, won’t make it into my bag. I use the Arccos in my clubs and the app and my watch tells me all that data, as well as the green mapping…so, I’ll stick with my Arccos and Leupold combo. But, wow! Tech is awesome. Great review.
I really would love this rangefinder. Only problem is that I live in Sweden and tax fees and all make it too expensive for it to be reasonable. Really hope that I can find somewhere in Europe to buy to I don’t have to worry about extra fees. However, great review! :)
@@LetsPlayThru yes that is correct. The prices become unreasonable right away when you order something outside eu. Sadly think that I’m not going to be able to get this rangefinder. Think I am going to have to buy a cheap one for now and hope other ones similar like this one will release in the soon future. Love the channel! Take care :)
I really need to make that video comparison. But I would probably lean Voice Caddie. I like having the separate screen and the Greenview where it shows you the slope of the break is super useful.
I recently purchased the same Nikon cool shot 50i like yours, kind of disappointed with it. The screen is crystal clear but the unit is too small and hard to hit the flag stick. I can only get their quake feature to work half the time.
Sorry to hear that. I really like a small size so it's not too bulky in my bag. I have noticed sometimes when there are lots of trees behind it doesn't quake. With flagsticks with the reflectors it does consistently though. I hope more courses install those.
@@LetsPlayThru I actually just ordered the voice caddie sl2 a couple days ago. I’m hoping that the sl2 will be a better replacement. Sold the Nikon on eBay for a little lost but at least I’m not stuck with it. I really like the accuracy of the rangefinder, my game improved at least 2-4 strokes since I start using it. I really want to like the Nikon cause the optic is crystal clear but sadly my shaky hands doesn’t help the situation. Thank you for the reply and hit them well!
Looks amazing, but worry the added benefits wouldn't be seen too well on that small of a screen. Is the cost worth it? Seems it would be hard hard to say yes for $600...
Yeah, its def not a budget pick. But if I was considering spending 399-499 on something like a Bushnell or Coolshot Stabilized, and certainly something like a Z82, this would have to be on that shortlist.
@@LetsPlayThru I just bought the z82 but I don't like that I have to look in the viewfinder for everything. I like that this rangefinder has the screen on the back. This video is one of the few in depth on the Voice Caddie so I'd be very happy to see a comparison video to see if I should go in that direction instead. Thanks
Am I the only one wondering why it didn't say anything? In the name it says voice caddie sl2, you would think it would talk to you. Also man time for a new glove the one u were wearing looks worm down man!
Yes, it's not for the faint of heart. This is the top of the top end. But will say, if I was considering something around 499 range, like some of the big name top dogs, I'd take this one all day.
That's the best piece of golf technology I've seen in years
