Hi Carm… wow fantastic gift from Shannon ! Awesome !! So wonderful of Shannon to send you that album! So I did buy Enya’s latest album Dark Island Sky after watching your video the other day. I knew a couple of the singles on it but not the whole thing. It’s great ! Thank you again for the inspiration! Have a great day Carm! Thank you . Chez
Hey Chez, Oh yes..so kind and thoughtful of her, as always. More and more enjoyable on each listen too. Nice, glad you got that latest one and are enjoying it! Thanks as always for joining me. -Carm
Hello my friend Carm! Good to see you. Thank you for the mentions. Awesome highlights here. I own both Bob Thompson and David Collini LPs and have featured them on my channel. That Bob Thompson Shooting Star track was a mystery track for 30 years recorded off 94Q Jazz Flavours in Atlanta in 1986. I finally found it by chance online by reading the album credits, I recognized John Blake’s violin style and Kevin Eubanks guitar solo. I bought the CD and Shooting Star was the mystery track that had baffled me for so long! Such a unique pianist, I have collected Bob’s other CDs since, and they are all just as good. The David Collini LP was also a 94Q mystery, namely “Buoyant Grace” which I heard on the show back in 1987. Very nice of you to feature those both on here together, definitely a similar “vein.” Also, a big fan of Norah Jones, nice to see her in your video as well. And I hear Enya is pretty good… 😉Life has been super busy and hectic lately, but I have been trying to tune into your uploads as much as possible. Look forward to hearing from you! - Kyle J
Hey Kyle, Well thank you as ever for the inspiration and always turning us onto something new. So neat Bob and David with their mystery cuts. Not surprised of course that you've featured David. Indeed, Norah and Enya aren't half bad themselves. 🙂Ah, well I hope things calm down for you soon enough too. Need to catch up as I see you have a few recent postings. Thanks as always for being here, buddy! -Carm & furz
I'm very happy that you are enjoying Day Breaks. I love everything Norah has done but that one is particularly special. Sharing it with you makes me happy. Love, Shannon :)
Hey Shannon, As ever thanks so much for that. Of course I plan to explore more of her music overall, though I can see this one still remaining a favorite either way here. Just a beautiful tone overall throughout. Another 'deeper well' to explore. ☺ Mucho love. -Carm & da furz
Very nice mentions to Chris, Shannon and Kyle. I just sent Chris a quick note. I would really like to come down there and see you both. One of these days I am going to do so. I listened to some of the Bob Thompson album. I really dig the bass player Gerald Veasley. I remember him playing with Jaco and with Joe Zawinul. He's a very talented bassist. Well done cuz. Glad you were able to fix the audio on the first video., Have a super weekend~ Rob/Boston
Hey cuz Rob, Well all three of them are so kind and generous....as you are as well. 🙂Would love to have you down here by us and we can all meet up. I still want to come out your way too....Quite a few people in the northeast I want to meet at long last. Oh yes, Gerald's very good, Bob's whole band is. Very solid. Of course...I couldn't not redo the video...am glad I caught the comments on the first video early on. 🙂 Thanks as always. Peace n love. -Carm
Hey Tink! Yeah..not sure what happened there...Yes, it's pleasant so far, and soaking it up before our own heatwave this weekend. I think you'd likely enjoy the middle album the most. 🙂Thanks as always. Peace, love, coolness, and coziness your way. -Carm & Rocky
So fortunate that you and my cousin Carm can hang out together Chris. I would love to be a part of the day. Just listening to you both talk about music would be epic. But I would also like to meet you both in person and cement our friendships. A ton of love from here in steamy Taxachusetts~ Rob
Hi Carm, That's better...I can hear you now ! I have one Nora Jones album and I do like her voice. How thoughtful of Shannon to send you that album ! Lately I've been listening to Classical music. I love Rachmaninoff,Debussy, and of course Bach. The music is so beautiful, especially during these turbulent times. Happiness, Cindy 🌻
Hey Cindy, Glad could get it to work this time. Which album of Norah's do you have? Yes, such a sweet surprise from Shannon. Very nice, same here in part--I like listening to the classical station in the car since there's no CD player. I love Debussy too, and of course really appreciate Bach, Mahler...In fact, right after the Enya video, I did another one on a favorite classical composer. It'll be up...in a little over a week though. Gotta spread the videos out a bit. 🙂 Thanks as ever. Love & happiness. -Carm & Rocky
@@gorvo31 Hi Carm, I have the CD "Come Away With Me". Can You believe it's 20 years old already ! ? I'll be looking forward to your Classical Composer video ! Yes, Classical music helps when driving for sure. Take care friend, Cindy 🌻
Very nice giftage from friends, always makes it so special to have, not familiar w the last two, Norah yes I know her I do not own any of her music but I have a friend in Florida that just absolutely loves her work, I will tell her of this album, she may own it not sure...very good to see you hope all is well I just came in from riding woop 🙌🏻 much happiness your way to Carm ....namaste 🙏🏻✨
You bet, sister Lis. Couldn't be more appreciative of these friends...just for having them. Am betting your friend in Florida would have this, as it's been out a while. Thanks as always for being here with me. Peace n love. -Carm & a snoozing Rocky
Norah Jones is underrated - a great artist. Having said that, I don't actually own anything from her. I always liked the song, Don't Be Denied. She covered my favorite Kinks song, Strangers - she did the song justice.
Hey Kris, Much agreed...as well-known an artist as Norah is, she hasn't quite gotten her due it feels. Yes, that's the thing about how she covers these songs...does them so well and inhabits it in a way that makes it feel like she wrote it. Thanks much as always for being here. -Carm
hey Carm, l like the outdoor setting. it doesn't seem too hot there... nice streak you're on with two videos in a week... l don't think l've heard any Norah Jones since her first album either, love the inside of that gatefold... Chris does it again with the obscure gifts... he always knows what will suit his individual recipients... take it easy...
Hey Sherv, It was a pleasant day though we're getting quite a bit hotter....Speaking of that...sorta, striking while the iron's hot I guess...have another video in the can, set to go up next weekend. 🙂 Yes, everything about that album feels lovely, indeed including the gatefold pic. Indeed, Chris just...knows. 🙂 Thank as always. Really good to hear from you. I see you have a video up yourself...be over in a few... -Carm
Hi Carm, hope you had a good weekend. My other half has a few cds by Norah Jones, might have austen on your recomendation. Very nice of the record shop to hold the stuff for you, they know your tastes. Allah best, Dave.
Hey Dave, Definitely recomend Day Breaks, and looking forward to further explorations. Oh yes, of course Chris is always looking out for us, and Steve's great too at the shop. Thanks as always for being here and swell Sunday your way. -Carm
Carm, when Norah Jones appeared on the scene, in a case of ''reverse discrimination'', I gave her a listen, only because her father is Ravi Shankar. I find her voice to be very ''comforting'' but she seems to try to cover too many styles of Song. After buying her first album, I lost interest in her offerings. She reminds me of the great vocalist, Blossom Dearie. The difference is Blossom knew what songs best fit her voice. I'm glad you mentioned ''Fleurette Africaine''. Gary continued to play that gem throughout his career. The version I'm digging lately is a live one featuring Burton, Metheny, Swallow and Antonio Sanchez on drums. The cover art is awesome too, by the well-known Peter Max. The album is ''Quartet Live'' from 2009 on Concord Jazz.
Hey Michael, you have me curious about Blossom Dearie, who I've only heard of by name. I guess I haven't heard enough Norah to assess fully, with what I've heard though, am curious to delve deeper all the same. Oh yes, 'Quartet Live', thank you for the reminder. I used to play that like Crazy when it was newer and forgot they did a version on there. I did play Gary's 'Real Life Hits' from '85 and forgot the did a version on there too. Thanks as always. -Carm
@@gorvo31 Carm, Blossom Dearie also did some work on ''Schoolhouse Rock ! ''. '' Real Life Hits'' is one I never was able to find, although I do have ''Ladies In Mercedes'' on an ECM, Gary Burton comp.
I have one Norah J album and it's pretty good. At times I wish she did a few more upbeat type songs, but she seems to have a pretty good handle on what she wants and works within that structure. I wasn't familar with the keyboard albums you showed. Enjoyed the birdsongs where you recorded. Sounds pretty peaceful.
Hey Dave, Which one do you have? Yes, whatever approach she takes, from what I'm hearing the down to mid-tempo feels so natural. It was a fairly quiet morning. Thanks as always for hanging. -Carm
@@gorvo31 I have Not Too Late by her. It's the only thing I've heard by her and it's pretty good. Did you grow up in the Chicago area? I bet that was kind of wild, compared to the small towns I'm from. But I guess you get used to your environment wherever that might be.
@@culturefan I shall keep an ear out for that one. Yep, a lifelong Chicagolander. Am just a couple towns outside the city and have lived here the whole time, so indeed, am pretty acclimated. 🙂I always enjoy whenever I visit small towns in general though, especially since the slower pace feels more natural to me...
