3:52 "the game is not considered to be notable enough to even have its own Wikipedia page" the second I heard that line I paused the video and created a FamiWiki page for Silva Saga better than nothing
This is a case where the whole game moves along at a much nicer speed than most 8-bit RPGs, so I don't think it's bad. I remmeber playing it when the fan translation came out, after playing Minalveton.
This is a game I wouldn't mind playing. There are far worse Dragon Quest knock-offs on the system, and though this game is quite late on the trend, it does just fine.
Here we are, at the easiest Famicom JRPG or a big contender for the worst RPG battle theme, the Silva Saga! Honestly I think this one is pretty decent, even though there's just no challenge at all. Silva Saga II is slightly better but still far from masterpiece/hidden gem 😊
Never heard of this one before. This and the sequel both have fan translations so maybe I'll check them out. If I recall correctly, I think there's another DQ clone we're gonna see before Famidaily ends. I think it's called Double Moon Densetsu?
Huh I'd never heard of this series! yeah if they were up to DQV in Japan by this point interesting that they're still riding the DQ2 train on this one. and hey it's always better than hoshi wo miru hito (thanks google for being the first result on 'kusoge famicom rpg' because I was spacing on the name of it, haha.)
Neither Silva Saga is particularly great from what I remember. Neither this one, nor the Super Famicom one. So yeah, it is what it is. It's fairly generic besides the party gimmick, but also easy for a Famicom RPG. Eh, I guess it's fine, but not too memorable.
I believe that Minelvaton Saga was the best in this mystical trilogy even though it's incredibly tough to navigate the gigantic dungeons without any maps 😊

This actually looks a lot more like the Famicom Ultima: Quest Of The Avatar than Dragon Quest 2 in everything but the combat.

Yep, Double Moon Densetsu. Imo Silva Saga is better and overall less grindy and frustrating. Try it, it's okay'ish 🙂
