- The Russian Guard includes well over one hundred different units. Many of them are elite units, anti-terrorist troops like the German GSG 9. Well-trained, highly motivated and equipped with modern wapeaons.
The Guard's rapid response forces fight terrorists primarily in Russia's Caucasus republics. Frequent deployment locations are Dagestan and Chechnya. The Guard's opponents are radical Islamists or common criminals who use Islam only as a cover.
The goal of the Russian Guard is to track down and eliminate terrorists before they can do any harm.
The Muslim-majority Russian constituent republic of Chechnya was almost completely destroyed in two wars between 1994 and 2003. Radical Islamists wanted it to secede from the Russian heartland. After the wars, Putin had many things rebuilt. But there are still countless terrorists. Most of them live underground and operate in small groups. The neighboring republic of Dagestan is a similar can of worms. WELT accompanied the Russian Guard's anti-terrorist forces for three months in the North Caucasus. Inside views of the life of the two elite units SOBR and SKIF.

As an american i admire the spetsnaz, their response time is impeccable, their hand to hand combat is amazing, their various Aks be it 47, 74, 12, 15, 107, 74u or even the bizon make them heavy hitters in urban combat, they also have very excellent channeled aggression which is needed for terrorists situations.
And they have an atrocious record in actually successfully carrying out rescue operations. Their brute force approach usually ends standoffs but at the cost of killing most or all of the hostages. Beslan was a prime example of this. As well as the theater siege in which over one hundred hostages died from Spetsnaz gas.

The National Guard is one of the two national police units in Russia, the other is the Politsya.
In term of role, the closest country with a similar set of police forces is France:
French National Police = Russian Politsya
French National Gendarmerie = Russian National Guard.

You can one expect to say things like this unless he's seen the piles of bodies of Ukrainian soldiers, it's just tragic that Zenlensky claims 2000-3000 Ukrainian soldiers dead and 10000 injured.. and Russian losses at 19000-20000 soldiers dead, when it's almost exactly the opposite.

Rosvgardia were internal troops though, no matter how "special", it operates within controlled lines, on assured logistics, with ample information, against largely militia level training opponents at most.

Its special forces will probably be in Ukraine since day one, probably won't retardedly get sent in waves like their Russian counterparts, but in discrete, small tactical groups, with intelligence and air support. What Russia's doing here, aka the traditional mechanized warfare, is a thing of the past.

Lets face it, no matter how advanced or how big disparity there is, military alone might cannot stop the ember of resistance from burning and spread in this age of republics (i.e. the nation belong to its people, not ruler). This is also why war of annexation had fallen out of favour in modern times. The fact that most conqueror does not have similar culture also work against that.

For what I can tell they are the Russian National Guard. That's what the captain says. And the narrator even mentioned them as the elite Russian national guard 💂♀️
