I was thinking how much I'd like to see some of your old photos from the film days. I never thought you would show them; then, you showed them! Wow. I loved them! I think they are your best I've seen! Great job!
Wow, your 80s shots are killer!! The EL2 has been my workhorse since I picked it up second hand in '86. A lot of cameras have come and gone, but I still shoot it regularly.
I’m primarily a Sony shooter and recently picked up the FE, was sold to me with a 50mm f1.4 and a 105f2.8 would primarily shoot black and white film on it.
I miss my FE2. Although I started my journey with a Praktica in 1985, I ended up switching to Nikon in early 90's. And my first Nikon body was an FE2. Just loved it and now miss it like the deserts miss the rain!
.... from the early '80s .... there's a couple of beauts there. There was fast stutter speeds, but no continuous or burst. Just the "cartier bresson" decisive moment.
My first camera in 1974 was a black Rolleiflex SL35 with Zeiss 50mm f1.8 Planar and 135mm f4 Tele-Tessar. I absolutely loved it and used it until 1990 when I bought a black Nikon FM2n, I wanted a fully mechanical camera as i knew it would last a lifetime (I have still got it); for more exotic photography I bought a F601 which I later gave to my mother ;-)
Interesting to see your Nikon gear...I also had an FE2 way, way back, with 35 and 85. Now, I have been re-collecting some of my old favourite cameras for some B&W photography, both SLR's and rangefinders. Of the Nikon stuff, I have an FM for complete manual, and a rarer FA with pancake 50mm...also picked up a 105/2.5 for them as well as adapting to my M43 stuff. Nice tele 210mm 😉
Nikon FE2 was my first camera. Loved it. After that Nikon F3 also. I miss the manual focus lenses with the Aperture ring. Had the Nikkor 28mmf2.8 50mmf1.4 and 85mmf1.4
Amazing coincidence - I have my old FE2, Nikkor 35mm f2 and 105mm f2.5 on my shelf right next to me. Love 'em, still. (though haven't used them in years)
Great video ! Very well explained ! I really enjoyed the old/new mixtures. I am intrested in what will follow, so I subscribed. Thanks alot, Greetings, Take Care ! Roger ;-)
My second hand FE2 was a camera I was in love with in the late 1990s sadly it eventually died, the shutter curtain started to disintergrate. I saved up and bought a brand new FM2n and I still own that but rarely use it. It probably needs a service just to clean it. I bought a Minox GTE last year and put some colour film through it. Oddly as I am now getting back more into my photography using mft I am also getting more interested in also using the film kit. I love these videos, I bet muscle memory came back quick when you picked up the FE? I am loving digital photography but it does go to show from your images, if you are good photographer all the modern kit makes a difference but its not as big as we might assume.
Thanks for the video of the good ol' days cameras. I bought a Canon TLb -- also built like a tank! I think the max shutter speed is 1/500 and was like owning a lower end FTb.
Wow... that 15mm f3.5 is something I would love to own as a memory of what I dreamed about 40 years ago. The price you listed is also very reasonable if it is in very good condition.
Thanks. The 35mm F2 is a fine lens, can't complain. I'm aware that some don't think it's Nikon's finest glass, but I made many great photos on it. I also had the 35mm F1.4 which was better at the same apertures, but much more expensive and heavier too.
I still use my Nikkormats. The plain prism Nikon F is the camera I most regret selling, more so than the F2AS. Never owned the FM or FE, or any digital Nikon camera.
Thanks for your input. I just bought a used FE2 waiting to arrive in a few days. I have a 50 1.8 Nikor lense from my Nikon EM. What do you think of some 1.4 lenses? Some guy here on youtube had an amazing shoot with the Voiglaender 58 1.4 Nokton...So I am happy if somebody could give me some hint in which lenses to invest for a start (I do street and portrait)
Thanks. My opinion is that you should first use the 50mm you already have. It's a fine lens and if you can't get satisfactory results with it, I think the problem is not the lens😀 If someone got great results, it's probably because he or she knows what they are doing, not so much the lens or camera.
@@mattisulanto ok can't wait to start shooting since I already was thrilled by the first b/w shots with the EM. I only longed for the FE2 since it gives me more possibilities and freedom with fully manual shooting. Love your content very inspiring.
Thank you for your video, I enjoyed it als always. From time to time, I put the vintage Nikkor lenses from my Father-in-law on my Fuji X-T4 or X-S10. The pictures have their own character ... not comparable with the modern Fuji lenses, I normally use.
Moi Matti. Recently I bought a Lumix LX100M2. I'm very happy with it and thanks to you Ive learnt a lot. I also have an old Olympus E-520 with some of the lenes. I want to buy a new camera that can use these old E-520 lenes with an adaptor. I've read that Olympus and Panasonic lenses are interchangeable. Which Panasonic camera would you suggest I buy?? Or do you suggest some other brand. I like the Lumix LX100M2 but I would want to make an upgrade. Kiitos and thank you.
A 15 or 14mm FF prime is still a rare and expensive focal length today. The 15mm AIS probably beats a lot of newer super wide angles in having little to no distortion. At the same time modern super wide angles don't flare as much which was the ultimate downfall of the Nikkor 15 AIS.
Remember when i got my FE2. To shiny and new, could not wait until some of the black had been wear down to the brass brass, for that "proffsionall look" :) That quality comperd to its mordern peers.
That is true. Some say you can use filters or post processing to emulate that, but in my opinion that is very difficult. At best you can acheive something that looks like mediocre imitation.
I was thinking how much I'd like to see some of your old photos from the film days. I never thought you would show them; then, you showed them! Wow. I loved them! I think they are your best I've seen! Great job!
Thanks you so much.
I have both of these cameras today. So, your video really caught my eye. A great summary of these two gorgeous cameras. Thank you.
Thank you.
Wow, your 80s shots are killer!! The EL2 has been my workhorse since I picked it up second hand in '86. A lot of cameras have come and gone, but I still shoot it regularly.
Thank you! I guess most photographers do their best work when they are relatively young, between 20 and 40😀
I’m primarily a Sony shooter and recently picked up the FE, was sold to me with a 50mm f1.4 and a 105f2.8 would primarily shoot black and white film on it.
Thanks for sharing. The FE is a great camera and your lenses are awesome too.
I miss my FE2. Although I started my journey with a Praktica in 1985, I ended up switching to Nikon in early 90's. And my first Nikon body was an FE2. Just loved it and now miss it like the deserts miss the rain!
Thanks for the memories, I had a Nikon F2--which I still miss--and a FM2.
I had several FE and FE2 cameras and one of my favorite lenses was the 35 f2. I did a bunch of weddings with them before I went AF. Great memories :-)
Thanks for sharing!
Super cool to see a throwback video!
Thanks, Daniel.

Thanks for sharing! Like I said in the video, those Nikons are not mine, but very nice still.
I loved my 2 FE2s and the rockstar 105mm 2.5... Great images both old and new! The old ones had a lot more hair! Such is life 🐻👍🏻
Thanks.
Nikon FE2 was my first camera. Loved it. After that Nikon F3 also. I miss the manual focus lenses with the Aperture ring.
Had the Nikkor 28mmf2.8 50mmf1.4 and 85mmf1.4

You should take them for a spin😀

Thank you.

I had a similar dream once😀 The price depends on the shape of the lens, I listed some average prices.
I'm getting old.... That reminds me of my first DSLR, a Nikon F2 with 50mm f2. I had to save the money for a long time, but it was worth it. 😊
Thanks!
I yearn my beloved Nikkormat EL2..!!!
That was the predecessor of the Nikon EL2. Also a nice camera.
@@mattisulanto .sorry Nikkormat EL

I just picked up a Nikon EL2 at a local camera store and I was wondering if it had anyway to do multiple exposures like the FE2?
Moi Matti.

Good to hear you are enjoying the LX100II. My favorite Lumix MFT cameras are the G9, G90 and GX9.

Please make an Instagram account with your film photos from the past, they were so attractive!
Thanks for the compliment. I don't think I have enough good film photos for a separate account😀
Still have my Nikin film cameras I use alongside my digital cameras every day until this virus put a halt to my work.
