Marco Hietala is Finnish , so that's good enough for me ! \m/ & I like Delain anyway ! \m/ :)

Some info about what you talked about, Delain has 10 songs featuring Marco.
Also, their last EP's live content features Marco a lot because it was one of their first (maybe the first, not sure) tour with Marco attending the entire tour (usually he comes to some shows but since Delain is not his main band he can't do all shows). So they took the opportunity to play all of the songs that they can't play live when Marco is not here (including Nothing Left) and release them on the EP since these songs played live are quite rare.
And yeah, Charlotte and Marco's voices blend so well, it's like they were meant to sing together.
The video was indeed from the live cd and dvd Delain released last month. It was taken from their concert last year in Utrecht Holland which I was part of ! 😍 It was really an epic concert especially with Marco as guest vocalist.
The upcoming US-tour features Anneke van Giersbergen when I am not mistaken. She used to be lead vocalist of the band The Gathering in the past and kind of role model for both Charlotte Wessels ( female singer of Delain ) as well as Floor Jansen.
This song is amazing. Haven't really listened much to Delain, but from now on, I will!

If you did not know: The song was on the Album "April Rain" from 2009 and was sung together with Marco too :)

In the Netherlands it is indeed illegal to crowd surf.
Dutch metal bands like Delain, Epica, Within Temptation are very popular with metal heads in the Netherlands, but the whole metal scene is still quite underground. Currently, both national and local radio stations don't and won't play any metal, unless it's commercial like a few Metallica songs from the Black album, for example.
They do play rock and classic rock, but it doesn't go any further than that.
Unfortunately, we don't have any metal radio stations that keeps us metal heads updated.
Floor is trying to warm up our country to metal music in general and get the public to stop stigmatising the genre by appearing in TV interviews and participating in the TV show Beste Zangers (Best Singers).
That way she shows the general public that the people who are in metal bands are also just normal people with families, like anyone else.
Floor wants people to get a chance to hear metal music in the first place, so they can decide for themselves if they like it or not.

I have this strange feeling that Marco wouldn't have a single problem starting successful solo career in pop/rock music. This guy can sing absolutely everything! Yeah... that being said... Delain wasn't bad either. :)

Actually Marco has had his own band called Tarot since 1982 in which his brother (Sakari "Zachary, Saku" Hietala) plays lead guitar.

Though Delain was my 2nd step to Nightwish, and I LOVE Delain's studio output, Charlotte doesn't affect me as much live as Floor or Tarja does. While is funny on my Nightwish dilemma: I love Tarja and Floor, but Annette is the primary for one of my favorites, "I Want My Tears Back". ONE of my favorites, for the trolls.

I've attended at least a couple hundred metal shows in Finland and never have I ever encountered crowdsurfing.
I'vd seen many try, but security nips it in the bud pronto.
Marco is Delain's biggest fan :P
I think Marco really lifts the level of this performance
Marko Hietala could harmonise his singing with the sound of nails scraping a blackboard and it would sound awesome. That's called Professionalism.
Not that Charlotte would be a bad singer, vice versa, but Marko just adds depth and power in the background while his solos are great and definitely distinguishable from any other voice of the trade.
BTW; it's also funny to follow in Delain's concerts how Marko has problems where to place his hands when without his dear base guitar: Charlotte is nice, but not just the same. ; )

Don't know where this was recorded but crowdsurfing is indeed forbidden in a lot of places in the Netherlands.
Thanks for the reaction, that's an awesome song. By the way, I kinda disagree with your view on crowds being boring, just because they don't go apeshit crazy all the time. I go to concerts to enjoy the performance of the artists, not the performance of the crowd, and especially with artists like Delain or Nightwish, it's not about the party, but about the music. Or at least it should be. Clapping your hands, Shaking your fists and singing along is completely fine, but I've yet to see a single concert whose atmosphere got enhanced by crowdsurfers and stagedivers (maybe except things like Wacken that are more about the party and less about the music)

I love this song. "April Rain" and "Control the Storm" (latter also has Marco) off the same album are better, but it's still a great duet.

certain venues here (in the netherlands) don't allow crowd-surfing, some do, it depends on where you're going :)
In 013 staat zo'n bord dat het niet mag, maar met Alestorm afgelopen week gingen er heel veel mensen crowdsurfen en niemand had er problemen mee.
nog nooit in 013 geweest, maar weet dat er in tivoli gewaarschuwd werd dat t niet mocht en je anders de zaal uitgetrokken zou worden, zo jammer :(
If you really wan't to hear Marco taking a song to a different level, you need to hear "Hilma ja Onni"! It is sort of a hidden gem in Nightwish material, since it is a tribute to a Finnish troubadour Jaakko Teppo and Nightwish has never performed that song live and it can not be found from any Nightwish album. They could probably put together an album of their songs which also include Marco. They should just make him an honorary member of the band. :-) Not that there's anything wrong with that.
I'm bummed that the upcoming Delain/Amorphis tour isn't coming to SLC. I'd love to see both bands again. I'd super-love to see Anneke sing "Amongst Stars" with Amorphis. Ah, well. Can't always catch every tour.
