So excited to see Kevin playing this again. His older videos of this game are some of my favorites.

Literally! I only go back and watch the old ones, unfortunately I just don’t like some of these newer games, it does not reflect on Kevin! The Movies playthrough were hilarious

The number of hours I spent playing this game as a kid is probably embarrassing. To be honest , as old as this game is, it's pretty complex and has pretty decent graphics. It's almost 20 years old.

Back in the day i didn't understand English, since i'm from south américa, but i remeber i played this and spent houndreds of hours trying to understand how to make it work, this Game helpedme to learn some English ❤

I played the hell out of this back in the day.
My brother and I had a movie series called "Drunk Monkey", and the plot was always the same. We would use the gorilla costume, and the protagonist would start off in a bar, drinking his life away when something happens either in the bar, or on his way home. Kidnapped by a serial killer, attacked by aliens, pretty much anything.
He would always be killed at the end, but the abrupt, final scene would be him laying on the floor of the bar. It was all a dream.

The robot being a vampire was a turning point that saved the movie. No wonder it earned so much money.
It was really the best trash films has to offer. Syfy horror ahead of its time, they trully peaked as a studio when they made it. It was unavoidable they would only go down after that.

You know how all actors tell the same story like "I wasn't even competing for the role, I just got to the audition with a friend who wanted the role and they told me I looked perfect for the part!", well in the kevinverse that is more or less like this "I was a janitor for a movie company and one day the producer looked me in the eyes and told me I was going to be a great movie star! Of course, the movies I did never made any money and I'm starting to think that they just needed someone willing to act, but whatever..."

I actually had something similar happen to me in a student film. Except I was going to talk to them about being an extra and they asked me if I was interested auditioning. Mainly cause they hadn't found someone that looked the part they needed and they told me the last girl couldn't take directions. I hadn't attended any auditions before that, I think, but thankfully there wasn't enough time to get nervous about a sudden audition. Less nervous since it was a student film and not a big company.

From what I remember this game's default movie studio name is "Tee Rash Studios", so Kevin naming his "Trash Films" proves he was on the same wavelength as the developers when playing this

Just for people who don't know, There's a game supposedly coming out this year called Blockbuster Inc, which is supposedly like a spiritual successor to The Movies. A prologue is free on steam for anyone wanting to try it.
There's also Movies Tycoon coming out this year on Steam. I've wishlisted both of them.

Completely agree this is one of the best sim games. I used to make films through this as a kid and get my parents to voice the actors. My friends rediscovered them on my computer when I was at uni and we still quote the ridiculous lines I came up with as a kid 😅 happy memories!
Oh I loved this game as a child! I remember that I screwed with the ingame radio in the Games files so all it played was the Song Fireflies by Owl City. It wasn‘t intentional.

For those of you trying to run it, if I remember correctly, you have to run it in compatibility mode on Windows. I’m pretty sure I played it on my Windows 10 machine. Right click the program (specifically the .exe file), select the Compatibility tab, check the box that says “Run this program in compatibility mode for”, and select Windows 7 in the drop-down list. It should run properly. Hope this helps.

I have a feeling that in 70 years, on a strange platform called "RUclips" that exists within the weird invention called the "World Wide Web", some guy who calls himself a "RUclipsr" will make a funny video about the film Moonworm that will get popular and this wonderful underrated movie that was ahead of its time will finally get the recognition it deserves. A happy ending. I love happy endings!

It baffles me that there’s never been another release like this since. I still have this game loaded up onto my computer so many years later because it’s the only game I can make goofy films like this so easily.

I remember playing this game as a kid. I laughed my arse off watching the movie because all my actors were drunk and some started building the set. Then someone slipped on a banana and I had no idea what was intentional anymore but it worked. I had no idea what I was doing.

There is a game on Steam called Blockbuster, Inc. that's pretty much the successor to this game. There is a free prologue out right now. Personally, I don't think it's as fun as the movies; but it's still fun for what it is. The movies can't be topped, IMO. Incredible game.
Oh, I'm so glad you posted this comment. I have the Blockbuster demo and have been putting off playing it because of my fond memories of the Movies series (DLC or expansion packs, I don't recall what the add-ons were called). Looking forward to someone's video review of this game. 👀👀

I adored this game as a kid! My friends and I would play on some sleepovers and giggle as the actors lip synced to our voices and we used the Stunts and Effects pack to cause extra mayhem 😂 I'm glad to see someone else enjoying and covering this. It was also my first time editing the registry on the computer so I could enter a cheat for this game.
Moonworm was undeniably better acted than The Last Avatar 2010.
Not exatcly a high bar to surpass, but considering the level of Kevins other movies, its cetainly worth mentioning.
Oh my god it happened. This is a barely known game that only me and a couple of kids in town knew about. Later on the internet I discovered it was barely heard of. I loved it when I was young, I used to spend hours on it.

1:16 This kind of reminds me of how Frank Silva got the role of BOB in Twin Peaks. Silva was a set designer for the show and David Lynch decided to cast him after a mirror caught Silva's reflection during a scene they were filming. (Lynch already had Silva in mind for a part because of an earlier onset incident but this is the moment that lead to Silva becoming BOB)

It still needs a lot of work I think but I really hope it can catch the magic that is The Movies.

I love the Movies! It's one of a select few games I actually have on physical media from the early 00's. A high-def remaster of this game would be a hit I think, the gameplay loop is already really engaging.
duuude, this reminded me a lot of a game called pop star academy. it was a lot like sims but with levels and shows you had to prepare for. idk if it's still possible to find it but kevin you should totally play that sometime, it was so cursed, i loved it sm 😭
