Junior programmer: Googling
Senior programmer: Googling fast..
More accurate
fact
Senior, page already saved to favorites.
exactly
Junior: searching for a phrase of what they'd like to do.
Senior: searching for the function in the code they need.
Junior Programmer: Right Click --> Copy --> Right Click --> Paste
Senior Programmer: Ctrl + C --> Ctrl + V
Jajaja
Hahaha 🤣
I agree
True 😂
I'm not progammer but I'm doing copy paste with ctrl+c so I'm senior progammer😎
If anyone thinks senior programmers don't google for code they are very mistaken!
I don't use google but yes, I search for code examples or docs several times a day during a coding story.
The difference is a junior programmer will use a lot of codes pasted from the internet without knowing how they really work. When you're a senior programmer most of the times you code yourself but when you need something you don't really remember how it was working exactly, it's simply easier most of the times to do a quick googling, paste the code, rearrange it because you know what you do, and adapt it eventually to your purpose, or even optimize it.
Code examples is the most useful thing I think for both junior and senior programmers, because you can understand more easily the code (as a junior) or remember how to do a specific thing (as a senior) !
@@K3rhos I would say you're half right. Junior programmers definitely google for stuff and just use things they don't understand. However googling something isn't just for how to do something you don't know, or learning how to do something new more easily, it's also documentation. Senior programmers will just spend more time googling for docs to make their own code as opposed to googling for code itself.
@@K3rhosbro wanna ask...i just started python course...Is it normal to not understand exercise even though you have been thought..cause i only copy and aste at this point
@@kingcort8073I’m a student too and what i can say is time, at first coding is basically a new language but as you do it often you will get a hang of it, I personally can’t understand the theory behind it i just try to understand the given code piece by piece (with the help of someone may it be your prof, schoolmate or better a senior). To me i learn better that way but each of us have our own style of learning, i am more of a visual learner so maybe that’s why my method works best for myself.

There’s nothing wrong with using someone else’s code, that’s why we have things called libraries. The difference between a junior programmer and a senior programmer is that a junior programmer adds code to the code base, whereas a senior programmer removes code from the code base.
A senior programmer removes code from the code base? 🤔
@@enum01 yes Because when a senior programmer is overseeing a team of junior programmers, the junior programmers are the ones writing most of the code and the senior programmers job is simply to look at their code, simplify it, refactor it and then commit their code to the code base. He rarely writes the code himself he just edits it. The rest of his time he spends it at meetings, eating and making “Day in the life of a software engineer” Tik Tok videos of course.
@@nelson4649 it depends tho, there is a team that focuses on fixing bugs etc, calculating cost of each bugs, bugs can also include mistakes, structure of code etc. plus the dude is right, libraries exist as a factor to represent copying code is fine. However u should try and understand to do algorithms etc. in addition i can bet u almost everyone googles for code. Googling is a main factor to becoming a software engineer anyways
@@robertlopez6092 That is completely false and incorrect. As a Senior SWE, you're working on the bigger and possibly more important aspects of the project. Lead and Senior SWEs work together to make sure the various aspects of the project are working cohesively so that Juniors can code inside the project and continue their work/learning. Junior SWEs can be delegated tasks on creating features on a page whereas Senior SWEs are working on things like authentication, security, flow, efficiently managing data, etc (in addition to delegating tasks, doing code reviews/refactoring, teaching/guidance, etc).
As the Juniors gain experience and evolve into Mid-levels, you can start giving them more complex/difficult work so that they are eventually knowledgeable enough to become an SME or even Senior SWE.
@@liam1902it’s ok man, you don’t have to pretend like you actually do work, I’m not your boss, I’m not downsizing your job. 😆 Save that for when your company starts “adjusting to economic conditions” and don’t forget to include fancy acronyms like OOP, MVC, MVVM, or ASYNC in your speech - no one ever got fired when they used ASYNC in a sentence!

Pro dev here. I copy and paste for a living. The wisdom is knowing what to copy and what to remove.
Exactly. So the point is you need to know what you're doing. People with non technical background think Chatgpt is a magic when they don't even tell what it writes them about (trash code) and keep saying GPT will improve over time to perfect itself when they have no idea what it's improving about 😅😅

As a long term programmer, the only difference is when we google our code we choose the right code to copy
Programming is one of the professions where people forget that they were all juniors once
I think the companies forget more. most of programmers are kinda chill and helpfull (sometimes you can find one with a degree that dont like selftaught/bootcamp programmers, and they can be rude ... ), but the companies now are weird. I see joboffers asking for juniors with 5+years experience ...
@@paulorovere2757 agree. I’ve seen it to, Junior position asking 4+ in react. But tbh I don’t trust companies anymore anyway so. But there’s also a lot of gatekeeping from the devs themselves, unfortunately. And the more companies lay us off, the worse it will get
I would argue about this being a Junior / Senior thing. The Senior Level should be earned for decision making and reflection of choices. The Junior adds 5 half bakes Features in 3 days and the Senior adds one working, well documented Feature in a week
I'm a junior engineer and my seniors add in two days what takes me a week. They're insanely fast ⏩⏩
@@ignatiustremor well, that is experience. Still, there are people that are really fast and still make really Bad decisions, like not considering potentially breaking things as a side effect of a change or even worse, ignoring such possibilities alltogether.
I would have a really hard time calling these people seniors. There is a lot more to good programming than being fast. I would even go as far as to say that I would rather hire people that produce well thought through solutions even when they are not the fastest. One of the biggest immediate threats to Software is bad design and unreliable fast solutions that "work for now". But this discussion cannot really work well since it requires a clear definition of what we mean by fast and what the context is
Copy paste is the most valuable skill a programmer can have
the problem is not using somebody else code, we do that all the time with the native language libraries and frameworks... the problem... is using somebody else code without knowing why it works or even worse... what it does.

Senior programmers know, that you shouldn't leave your elbows without the proper support :)
