Finally a Kenyan review is on....this is on point...educative....combined fuel economy (though they say if you are asking about consumption you are not ready to own one)
I was sceptical at first. But the reviewer did such a nice job. I got to say this is one of the best car reviews I've seen. The media house however walichoma on the sound quality.
The SJG looks aggressive and I agree the new technology is better, however I would still pick the SG anyday esp the sti version... Nice video, very informative, kudos..
Good review 👍, I wish you would go into the details of each cars interior and exterior with good lighting, cover engine capacity, tyre sizes, fuel options, leather or cloth interior and keep it all English to accommodate non Kiswahili speakers.
As a loyalist the new changes are welcome in many ways, space, handling and fuel. Yes the CVT is a bit of a problem, but just use the right oils and a good workshop. Remember the oil for the xt and na gearbox are different and so are the gearboxes
telling me about the boooot and keyless entry instead of the new FA engine...want to know the turbo on it and why it was placed at the front, CVT gearbox. etc etc
hey , nice review. its so good to see some different country than eu and USA :) and Africa especially. anyway I wish subaru would put Manual to it's lineup and 2.5 petrol 250bhp power engine. as fast as these 2006 models. ehh
The review started on a boring note but after a while became actually good. Good job. The SG STi remains my favourite Forester. These tall foresters....hapana
Am a mechanic based in eldoret deals with Subaru mostly BT to mi 1 stearing rack system yack 2 gearbox lock up solonoid hectic 3 du review on fa20 and fb20 it has leakage problem with the top cover overheating when u fix another head gasket it jst not sure
I concur with you....old design over new design any day....old design is sleeker. Subaru has to do something better in regards to the design next time although every person has their preference anyway
Well no escape from the FA platform. The FA24 block (in the Ascent sold in The US (will be most likely passed on to the new Gen 2021/2 STi and with stock hardware plus a tune it is capable of churning out 400whp. The internals are really strong and enforced.
The CVT as stated by Charles above is a big reason why some people and I are opposed to the new Subies Please talk about them and how the car drives eg the zero to a hundred as compared to other cars of the class.
The CVT gearbox is really a let down for the performance in the Subaru. Subaru introduced the Cvt to improve on fuel consumption but unfortunately that sacrificed the performance in the process.
Good comparison but lots was left out. Subaru always knows its weaknesses and improves on them to make sure there sales stay up , they also sometimes take good improvements out that seem not affect sales. Eg. the 4pot 2pot brakes from 06-07 wrx. In short EJ engines are out dated now and FA,FB even though will soon to see there weaknesses are a great improvement from the EJ. Am still happy around my ej engines and there is enough I can still do to make em reliable and perform. While the new subaru engines evolve I choose to enjoy my ejs for now. Did you guys know the type RA short block is the same in the S209? As far as I can tell at least. Am considering to just renew my 07 wrx with that short block.
How’s wrx for a first car. I’m thinking of getting a 2016 one but I’m reserved juu ya ii kelele ya reviewers on how the turbo charged Subaru engines are unreliable
Hi Buster, maybe I can give you my 2 cents, no matter what people say and all the wrx heritage will forever be remembered and keep the mark it has in the auto world. The ej engine is still on the list for the best engines ever made. A 2016 wrx is a fun car regardless its a newer engine than an ej and it addresses a few weak points of the ej it's got a little more power from its 2014 sisters and even though it's a six speed tranny its still a split case unlike the ever popular STI SIX speed. I don't think it's a bad first car to have specially if you understand the harder you drive the shorter the life span of this subarus , to me i think neglect and bad maintenance has caused many subarus to die. Fuji industries has sold millions of this cars of it was a bad car they would not have kept making em. Last thing I will add is and am.all over the place. If you buy this 2016 I bet you you will want more power later so see if it's in your best interest hold on for a little while or stretch a budget and get an STI. maybe they are hard to come by at a good deal but you can get into an STI and stay with it as is for a while before you want more power. Soon some 2018 and up STIs will start coming to Kenya I don't think they will be cheap but they will be serious contenders, 😉 with the end of the ej STI there value has jumped up. So if you stuck to wanting a wrx as first car do proper inspection any oil leak on the bottom of car make it a concern unless it's from the oil pan nut, test drive it and make sure not even a slight blue smoke coming out from back i dont think rust will be an issue but look out. If they would let you see if it has oil in the intercooler. This is what I would do if I was a first subie buyer. Some of this reviews are based from cheap people and subies can dig a whole in your pocket if not careful. Trust me I should know. In case this helps just know I have 2 wrxs and one is an STI killer so I can stand by what am saying.
@@Spoolnut thanks for the two cents bro. It probably was more than two😂. I appreciate the info especially coming from a guy who’s been there and a proud owner and twin subies., I’ve got a lot to think about before making the decision but this information right here will be very helpful. Cheers!👍
Nice review definitely more detailed and comprehensive. Personally my only issue with the newer generation Subaru products, is the cvt transmission. That SJG with a manual would have been amazing but I also understand the reason behind moving to CVT's. Overall Subaru's are still solid vehicles that can be reliable with proper care and maintenance. Gari ni mwenyewe.
Much as the 2013 forester is a good rugged car...the CVT auto slash lineartronic nonsense from subaru is a shame...wish it came with a manual or a proper automatic gearbox!..
Those machines are so powerful and fast....will dust off any forester anyday and with a good tune you'll give STI's a run for their money....get one ASAP
Hello ave got an xt forester but it has an error indicating use washer fluid and even after putting that washer fluid the errors is still in the dash board please help

This review and a chat with Vinnie has helped me make up my mind
Vinnie is always spot on when it comes to cars. Top lad that one.
I love SJG versions. Thank you for the information
made more sense when you switched to swahili,,good review
Nice start but you have left out a lot. .. I expected you to talk about CVT gear box, SI drive, leather trim, Harman Kardon Audio system etc...
chazzy
The CVT from many reviews is the weakest link in the Subaru's but all in all Subaru all the way
The Guest Presenter is well informed and knowledgeable ,Am sold on the SJG!
i still like the frameless door from the older version it gave the subarus that sleek iook
Same here, but wind noise was the drawback.
great from shift gang254. bring us the review of subaru legacy and subaru outback. which look very similar
Am learning very crucial facts about cars that I didn't know....
The pleasure is all ours
Excellent review guys ! I thoroughly enjoyed this. This helped bring me up to speed (pun intended) on these new models and trims
The reviewer is on another level, so informed and confident. Only a camera makes the difference between him and Mat Watson

A good one. Kindly do a review on the Mitsubishi outlander
and that is how you review a car ladies and gentlemen...nice work autoboost knws his stuff but more info kwa hiyo sjg would hve been nice
For the bhp numbers, it should be 280bhp for the JDM. Same block as the last Legacy GT DIT with 300bhp. The USDM is the one with 250bhp.
I was going to point out the same thing though you missed the numbers a bit. SJG JDM outputs 276hp. And yes, USDM & EUDM are in the 250hp range.
Good review👍🏾.. I prefer old generation Subaru cars that were more durable and fun to drive unlike the modern ones with cvt.
Its cool can a 16 year old drive it
great presentation
