With the 1997 fact of John Andretti winning the only race for Cale Yarborough Motorsports that leads to another interesting racing fact. With that win the Andretti family has more wins at Daytona International Raceway in the Nascar Cup series than they do at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in any version of the Indycar series. Mario’s 1967 Daytona 500 win & John’s 1997 Pepsi 400 is one more race win by an Andretti at Daytona than Mario’s 1969 Indy 500 win being the only win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for any Andretti family member.
Jamie McMurray’s finishes in the “Crown Jewels” of 2010 were 1, 2,2,2 and 1.
2000 Brickyard was the last scheduled daytime Cup race on Saturday. Changed in 2020 due to the new Pocono doubleheader that was planned even before Covid.
Fact about Terry Lobonte
His first race was the Southern 500 at Darlington.
His first win was the Southern 500 at Darlington.
His last win was the Southern 500 at Darlington.
And his last race was the Geico 500 at Talladega🤦
I was extremely disappointed with NASCAR/TV networks coverage of the history of the sport this past year. As a NASCAR history buff, I was hoping we would have a little bit more than just an animated end slate for the broadcasts showing Petty, Earnhardt, Johnson, and NASCAR 75 animated cars as the little bit of history we would get all season. Thanks for this video! Hopefully the 100th anniversary will get blown out of the water
18:11 RIP Ken Squier
This must have taken ages to make, awesome job, great stories and chuckles spread throughout. Great Job!!
A McDonald's Car was near Jeff Gordon during his First Career Win in the 1994 Coca-Cola 600 and his 93rd and Final Career Win in the 2015 Goody's Headache Relief Shot 500 at Martinsville
35:15 and Aric Almirola finished 3rd in both races!
If you think about it in the teams that were involved in Kevin Harvick's first and last start was Hendrick Motorsports and DEI since Trackhouse is technacally DEI since they merged with ganassi who was then bought by trackhouse
The 1 car won his first and last races of Harvick's career
the 24 also won the pole for both races
Those facts are awesome, here's to the next 75 for NASCAR.
in the 2022 Coke 600, it was recorded as the longest race in nascar history with it being extended to 413 laps (619.5 miles) from the original 400 laps (600 miles) due to overtime.
2023 interesting fact: William Byron
On multiple occasions
Deliberately
Wore a big hat
Loved the hudson hornet fact, as a hardcore cars fan.
Awesome video bro, hopefully you'll be around for 100. I would be 65 if I make it
In 2007 there was also another upset:
In the 600 (you know what I mean) Casey Mears would bring the w home on fuel and ran out on his victory lap
It would only be Casey Mears Only Win
And the most recent win for the #25 and he had a badass paint scheme to go along with it
This was fantastic. Great work!
Glad you enjoyed it
I loved this video so much.
John Andretti ✝️ RIP
for the 2019 fact, there almost was another fact, that Denny Hamlin finished 3rd in both, but in the 2020 race he was 6 hundredths of a second short.
The Hudson Hornet was powered by a 5.0L inline 6 cylinder engine, the only 6 cylinder to run in the Cup series and dominate for that matter.
I may be misremembering but on the Dale Jr Downloaded didn't Dale say his first real cup race was at Suzuki?
I just somewhat recall the story cause of him nearly getting hit in the head across the room with a flying shoe.
*Suzuka, and no Jr got his first cup start at Twin Ring Motegi in Japan
@@dr.b0973 Ah I remembered it was one of the Japanese tracks.
getting hit in the head with a shoe?
...big George W Bush energy?
5:06. 3 Digit numbers are not just “a thing” here. The NAME of the car model was the Chrysler 300. So it was a no-brainer to give it that race number. Each year 300 got a letter suffix, eg 300B, 300C, 300D, etc.
Just 🏁 racing man
2023 season: they raced on the streets of Chicago and it was won by Shane Van Gisbergen
We can use a part 2 to this ❤️
Ironic that Bill and Chase both got their first wins on a road couse
Bill: 1983 Riverside
Chase: 2018 Watkins Glen
i expect in 1970 you will mention Areo warriors cars Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird
Another crazy fact is that every single race that Jimmie Johndon won in the Cup series came with his Lowe's sponsorship. He did not win with Ally (correct me if I'm wrong)
he only won points races for lowes, he won the clash with ally
Bill Rexford the only Champion not in the HOF? I didn't know that but it shouldn't be so.
@ 13:37 In 1970, while the last dirt track race (Until 2021) for the NASCAR Cup Series race was held in Raleigh NC, it wasn't at the paved superspeedway (Raleigh Speedway) as it's last July 4th event was in 1958. The actual final dirt track was at the North Carolina Fairgrounds Speedway in 1970, which is also located Raleigh, NC. (Which was clearly shown @ 13:56)
Please do a better job when researching something Vanilla, because the fact was a little misleading. Surprised to see 13:49 the Occoneechee Speedway get a cameo though.
My mistake on this small error. I think you need to be a little more forgiving to creators who make minor errors such as this though.
@@vanillawafer176 I try to be more forgiving to creators most of the time, although most of the original track has since been torn down. Only the frontstretch remains..
They do host the NC Auto Show there, that's something at least :)
Think you could do a video on the Raleigh Speedway, the Occoneechee Speedway and other tracks like them??? I'd like to see your thoughts on each one.
And now Cale Yarborough is no longer with us 😔
It's sad but I'm glad he was able to live a full life. Lived into his 80s and got to race in events almost to the very end
In 2023 Kyle Busch became the first NASCAR driver to win at World World Technology Raceway for the Cup Series and then did it in Xfinity Series back in 2009 and fun fact I was there at that track for both races Kyle Busch won at WWTR although at the time he won it in 2009 it was known as Gateway International Speedway. Another fun fact Kyle Bush is the only driver to win at Chicagoland Speedway and WWTR in the Cup Series and both tracks are in Illinois and the distance between the two tracks in that state are 253 miles apart and both tracks are located close to big cities in the US which are Chicago Illinois and St. Louis Missouri. by thew my profile picture is a photo of Kyle Busch's #8 RCR Chevy I took while I was at the race Kyle Busch won for the 2023 Enjoy Illinois 300 in Madison Illinois
No you were right
They just didnt score the first 10% for the Daytona 500 at least
Probably the rest too
2004 : Dale Jr. lost 25 points at Talladega dispite winning there because he said the word "Sh*t" in the interview (which media outlet is afraid to allow that to happen since Janet Jackson's incident at the 2004 Super Bowl half time show), that cost him the shot for the championship
Not really. His poor performance at Martinsville and his crash at Atlanta are what did him in.
