As a xc runner going into 8th grade, I've been running for 7 years now and these tips would've helped me so much when I was less experienced so keep up all these awesome videos! The nutrition part was something that a lot of people get wrong they think I just ran hard so I should be able to eat whatever I want.
I’m a junior in high school and all ima say is that the part about easy days just watching your heart rate is so important. Especially when you’re running longer distances like a 5k

it is sooo sooo important not to overtrain ! im a freshmen and i did xc over the summer and untill recently had been running 25 miles a week, i am now out for the rest of the season due to a stress fracture from over training sorry for the yap but like fr take care of ur selfffff
Im an 8th grade student and I really needed this because im running 4 and 5 miles this week, and these tips help, but I don't know if I've looked long enough, but can you make tips on how to pr in a race like during a race.
Evan, I am impressed with your insight and maturity for one so young. I look forward to watching you develop as a runner and into the man you will become. Many challenges and successes ahead. Bring it.
thx , im a 7th going on 8th grade xc runner. Im more of a beginner since i just started last yr.In my cross country i came 15th but im currently more in the position u were in ,in 4th grade. Do you have any like advice on summer training for a beginner or a vid? i luv ur channel btw , new sub.
Your videos keep getting better and better, keep it up! Also, my aerobic base isn’t built to where it should be at my current fitness(5:10 mile). When I started running in seventh grade I kind of did the same things you were talking about when you just started, and now almost two years later I struggle to keep my HR in my easy zone at what should be easy paces for someone at my current fitness level. Do you have any tips? Or do I need to just run really slow for a few months and be patient?
Yeah, I’m mostly running 7:45 to 8:15 for easy runs, and what usually happens is I’ll go 1-3 miles in my aerobic zone and then my HR with jump and stay in zone 4 and 5 for the rest of the run despite no change in difficulty or my breathing. It is really hot and humid where I live and my coach told me keeping a low hr is significantly harder in the climate I’m in, and I probably should just focus on staying at an easy effort level and pace without worrying about my HR right now.
please don’t use 220-age, since it’s an average and the true max heart rate varies a lot by person you need the more-individualized heart rate max field tests alternatively, run conversationally to where you can say full sentences before catching breath
@@fergus2835 I’ve been running for 3 years with 1000+ miles per year so it’s not 1 my 5k pace is 5:25 and I run at 7:30 pace so that’s also not a problem but it is very humid where I live so that could be it
As a 7th grade xc runner moving up onto 8th grade next year, this video really helped me. Thank you so much!

The best thing about being a runner is you don't have to necessarily be any good at it to enjoy it.
Thank you sm! I got selected for cross country (2.5 km) wish im greatful abt and i hope these tips help! Tysm ❤❤ (4th grade person!)

So with a 5:10, I would recommend you run at around 7:30 to 8 flat on easy runs. Are you sure that’s the pace you’re running them at?

Bro how does this guy only have 6k subs
Do you still have the knee pain?
Man all of my runs I’m always in the 180s and the 190s
that means
1. you haven't ran enough to lower your heart rate
or
2. your going too fast
or
3. your running in bad running conditions
