It’s great to see how much nature has already come back into your previously burnt mountainside! Beautiful, really.
nature reclaims :D
Day just instantly became better
My favorite hermit is back at it again
I'm glad to see you had a good time with your friends and that you made it back to the mountain safely. Stay safe, friend. 🏚️🌲☦️
Thank you for posting these it makes me happy
Love your channel, beautiful videos.
Looking good my friend. I wish you all the best for the coming winter.
Thanks for the upload anon. needed this day. Been stuck behind my desk all week. Nice to escape with you for awhile
I look up to you and your way of thought so much, thank you for these videos man you don't know how much they help people.
Went on a small hike through the woods today, got cut up by some thorns but I made it through and it was beautiful. Stay safe man 🤙🏻
I had a mouse come though a hole in my tent and stay the night with me. The night before a crow must have mistook my finger for a bird as he pecked it. Warmed my heart seeing this. I love you and you are one of my heroes.
Happy to see another update from you. Your videos bring peace and comfort, knowing that no matter how far man strays from nature, for those that wish to return to their roots, that nature will welcome those folks with open arms. If we do not have nature, we have nothing. You keep inspiring me to take the plunge myself, although I know I have a lot left to learn. Stay safe, and warm, winter is rolling in again. Looking forward to another update
The way man is supposed to live. Forest Anon is an S tier channel
I’ve seen clips and excerpts of your videos all over the place but just recently found out who you were and that you had a RUclips channel.
After watching a few of them I can already tell I’m going to become a fan. And the fact you take the time to heart and respond to almost every comment is awesome.
I hope to one day do something similar to what you’re doing. Thank you for uploading these videos and God bless! 🙏
Thank you so much man I'm glad you stumbled upon my channel! I hope you do something similar as well - or really anything at all that brings you happiness brother. I've got faith in you! You take care of yourself and enjoy your season my friend. God bless!🌲🙏🏻
Your channel brings me joy, I wish to build a log cabin in the woods of Sweden when I become a little older and get the money to do so and one of the most exciting things will be days where you can just sit and watch birds or whatever comes around you. Godbless, your channel is pure beauty!
I love these updates so much ❤️
thanks man, a lot ,God bless you.
Forest anon the keeper of the comfy nature pill
"make sure my dicks not hangin out" ahahahahhahahaha I was cackling brother, i love youre videos. they give me ther ultimate sense of peace. you are truly living my dream. love ya man.
You can make your own suet bird food. Just some fat like crisco and mix bird feed in it and maybe dried fruits.

Happy thanksgiving man. Just letting you know you have people out there in the world who are thinking of you on this holiday, and thankful for you for all that you do to make us feel less lonely.
Hope you had plenty to eat and had a fun day.
I recently found your videos after getting into this type of stuff. It's really cool and inspirational and I hope one day I can achieve this kind of coolness. Keep up the great work man, God bless.
These videos make my day, especially all the clips of wildlife.
seeing someone able to do this and do it so joyfully gives me a lot of faith in god again tbh
mr Forest anon I Found your youtube channel about a week ago and you are really living the life I want and I really realized that now. Thats why im going to univerity to study wilderness survival then after that im out. Thank you for showing me a life that seams awzome :)
Great video, I’ve always been fascinated by nature and the concept of leaving society to live out in the woods. Planning on moving into nearby woods here in Norway, or maybe the wild in Iceland where I am from.
Your channel is so wholesome and enjoyable, I hope you have a fantastic day man.
Stay safe and be careful.
I love this guy, absolute joy watching your videos
The secret to fulfilment in life is service, and you are helping us all by taking the time and effort to share your life and tips with us.
I came here after a frantic night watching election returns, thanks!
Greetings from Lithuania, you legend
Beautiful, always cheers me up
I love nature ❤️
Hey so I have a few questions so I'll just number them:
1. Have you tried making your own pottery (Collecting and processing the clay in the wild with no modern tools and then firing them)? If so, then I'd love to see some videos of the process. If not, then I think you would enjoy it a lot. It's a really cool process. (I could also give some advice as I've successfully done it myself before!)
2. How much did it cost you to move off grid? I've researched the costs of different states in different areas (as I plan to move off grid as well) and it generally ranges around 10k-20k for the land itself (not including sewage, water, etc. if it's mandatory in the area). A general estimate would suffice.
3. Do you ever plan on becoming entirely self sufficient? (Hunting and growing your own food entirely independent from the outside world, not relying on other various store-bought goods). I'm certain it's really difficult to do that in this day and age but it's an interesting endeavor nonetheless.
And finally, I really love these videos and you as a person. You breathe new life into and shed light on a lifestyle many have forgotten and are unwilling to live.
Respect and love from SC!
Not ignoring you brother I'll reply soon! 👊🏻
@@ForestAnon take your time man its alright. it's a moderately cumbersome load of questions so don't worry about it.
(1) I've never tried making my own pottery, but I've 100% thought about it often - there is clay at the mouth of the canyon and even lime if I wanted to get serious about my walls. I just haven't gotten that far yet to consider it an option. All the advice you have is more than welcomed!
(2) It probably cost me a little over $300 but that went to the food and electronics I cached at the very beginning. I'm squatting illegally on federal land at no cost, no property or income tax. I'm below the poverty threshold and get paid in cash under the table whenever I work the ranches.
(3) I will always grow what I can, forage anything else and buy the rest. I'll never hunt - I have nothing against hunting for sustenance - my friend Revolt lived off wild game for two years but he was an expert poacher. I'm super jealous of his abilities. It's near impossible for many to do that. My own opinion is I want to make my section of the forest a Garden of Eden, and not make life harder for the animals (I want to clarify I'm not against hunting at all, only hunting for sport) other than that I'm just an old hobo in the woods. The best analogy I can use is when Ed Abbey saw a herd of deer and said this:
My first thought is 'meat'. Unworthy thought - but there they are, waiting, half of them standing broadside to me, their deer beating hearts on level with the top of the sand sage, salt bush, rice grass. Two of them within a hundred yards - easy target for a thirty-thirty. Meat means survival. Survival, by Christ, with honor! When the cities lie at the monster's feet we shall come here, my few friends and I, my sons and my daughters and we will survive, we shall live.
My second thought is more fitting, for the moment. Leave them be. Efface yourself for a change and let the wild things be."
- Ed Abbey, Down the River (1982)and the😊
A continuation of the third answer is this:
Dick Proenneke, the man who built the cabin on the lake in Alaska ended his book with a final note in his cabin, the end of the note read thus:
"This is beautiful country. It is even more beautiful when the animals are left alone."
(A last clarification: I'm not against hunting to survive. But if you're able to avoid it, it's best to do that. When society kicks the dust then I will hunt. I know how to snare and trap and deadfall and where the heart of every animal is. But as long as I can I will avoid that route. I feel we've given them a hard enough time as it is. Much love my friend 🌲
"
@@ForestAnon Thanks for responding, I was genuinely interested in the questions I asked.
I totally understand your worldview. If hurting animals is avoidable, then by all means avoid it. Foraging and growing your own crops in the long run is also more sustainable.
Squatting on federal land is obviously dangerous (legally speaking), but I can see how it has many financial benefits. The idea of "owning" land and the legal and financial obstacles it takes to actually acquire said land is ridiculous in my opinion.
Just in case you are interested about the pottery, I can give you some rough advice.
Since I'm not exactly familiar with the clay in your area, I'm going to based off of what I have in my area (which tends to be red clay).
There are two methods of processing clay: dry processing and wet processing. Both
have their pros and cons. Dry processing allows you to already have temper included in your pottery (temper is small particles of sand/ground pottery that allows the clay to dry and fire with reduced risk of cracking). Dry processing is also a lot more expedient than wet processing. The downside of dry processing is that you can't accurately determine the clay to temper ratio within your clay (too much temper can cause a brittle and difficult clay).
Wet processing allows you to measure out how much temper you'd like in your clay, with the downside being that it takes much more labor and time to process.
If you'd like more advice on primitive pottery, I'd check out Andy Ward on RUclips, he does excellent pottery videos.
And finally, I'd like to say that I respect and deeply admire your love of nature and animals very much, and I wish you nothing less than a peaceful life and a bright future.
Love the long beard bro. I envy your lifestyle and plan on taking the leap soon myself. The only thing that holds me back is my loved ones. I know I will miss them dearly. Do you ever get lonely out there by yourself? Have you ever tried to convince the ones close to you to join you in your way of life? I hope this message reaches you and I hope you’re taking good care of yourself brother
Thank you man! :) I definitely get that brother that's the one thing that holds a lot of people back! And I get lonely at night sometimes when the fire is almost out and there's just a warm glow that makes me think of old friends and memories, and when the nights get longer in the cold months it gets a little painful. But I usually shake it off by morning! I don't really have any loved ones I could bring out here. But I like being by myself so it works out - I would lose a little more freedom with each person who joined me. There's a certain power that comes with being totally alone and I'm content with me and the mice and some jugs of wine. It definitely has its rough moments but everything does 💪🏻 There's a price for everything! I hope you're doing excellent out there brother 🏚🌲
Best wishes from Michigan. Stay well. The forest forever.
I wish I could live like you one day.
Your life is so dang cool, I hope to live like this someday. Worshiping God and living in the woods like we were intended. I'm trying to make it through the next couple years of school, to appease the people in my life who want me to live more mainstream, but when I'm through with that ill hopefully be able to live how I want. I was wondering if you bought the land you're living on? or if you just found a place you liked and stayed there? Either way, I think its incredibly honorable and beautiful, God bless you!
I just saw the answer to my question on a different comment, sorry for being redundant! I suppose another question could be, how you found your spot?
"This one kind of looks suggestive." Thanks for the laugh this morning, anon. Hope you're well mate.
wowww I love watching your videos in the morning thanks for another awesome upload 😎
Comfy af. There are too many times in life where it is humans versus nature, this is how it should be.
Had to edit it this at the dead chicken part.
"That smells foul"
Pure pottery.
very cool
just gorgeous
Much Love and God bless you
I absolutely love seeing your videos
Hey pal, found you recently and I just have to say.... DAMN!

One of your best videos yet
Thank you man 🙂🏚🌲
Another great video. Thanks for the post
morning to you too
You're living my dream life.
Thx for update!
Ever wondered how animals got domesticated? This is how. Before It became corrupted and turned into something twisted.
yesss
Hey, not sure if you've been asked this before, but have you thought of writing anything while you're up there? Would be a good way to spend some of that free time in addition to making these brilliant videos!
I actually have 6 journals so far (plus one that is all just recordings of the weather) on one page I even counted all the douglas firs in the area and recorded the final numbers - and that was before the fires!
glad to see you still uploading =)
Putting up some candles for da ladies? hahah
You're a legend, mate
One day
How did u prepare yourself for survival in the woods? Or did u move out to the forest and learn as u went? Awesome videos, keep ‘em up!
Just a lot of time spent in the hills of my hometown my whole life! It really peaked after 2012 though and I gradually became more and more obsessed 👊🏻 I'll come back and leave a better reply once I get my phone charged :)
Beauty
You’re back :)
Dude i love yours videos but i have a question, how do you charge your phone??
Yours videos are beautiful thanks you
Two handcranks and a series of powerbanks! Thank you my friend 🌲
You are inspiring
what boots did you wear for such a long journey? and were they good? (recently had a pair of boots fall apart on me after just a few miles walking!)
Jungle boots while walking and leather moccasins around bed time or when taking a few hour rest stop 👊🏻
great video
So now you're brewing alcohol by the jerry can huh? hehe
Cheers man, hope it comes out well.
If someone wanted to follow in your footsteps how would they go about doing that? Like how did you know what to bring, how did you learn to build your hut, how did you pick your location, etc. Thanks for any input, friend!
I'll reply once my battery is a bit charged 👊🏻 Sorry for the late response!
@@ForestAnon no rush friend, thanks!!
yay mouse
Loved that citation at the beginning, and it's really how I feel about cars or anything that goes faster: it's inhuman.
Also, who the fuck would live a dead chicken in two plastic bags in the middle of nowhere? Why not just throw the chicken away and let it decompose without putting trash everywhere? I don't understand people sometimes...
Did you manage to grow much food this year? I feel like you talked less about your crops than last year.
Glad to know youre still out there mate. Got any book recommendations? Loved in the heart of the sea.
I recently finished The Eternal Husband and Other Stories by Dostoevsky and The Eternal Husband almost had me in tears! And to be honest I'm not even a huge fan of short stories, so that's a testament to just how great they were 🌲
The book I finished today is called The Black Hand, it's about the Mexican Mafia and it's probably the best source of info you can find on the subject (but after page 150 I started to get fatigued by it)
@@ForestAnon Thanks mate I'll check those out. I've heard good things about Dostoevsky from lit. Hoping to live similar to you but here in Aus. I hope your matches never miss fire.
I really want to live like this when I get a bit older, where should I go? I was thinking somewhere in Cascadia
Go anywhere with fresh water that's far away from people man the world is your oyster! 🌲
Im sorry id youve answered this before but, im just wondering how to you feed yourself?
Hope you are well brother!
Hey anon!
Can you walk all your food in your backpack in the mountains?
Or are you self sustainable?
Forest Anon I've got a very strange, I was wondering what do you do if you wanna live like you whike having a complication like hay-fever. Do you suggest buying medication in bulk or just dealing with it? 😊
To each their own but I definitely have an entire cache that's loaded with some heavy duty meds in case of emergencies! I suggest hoarding anything you can, like a packrat, anything you can obtain, even if you don't think you'll ever need it. Scavenge and stock up anything you can find because it's better to be with than without and that goes for anything 👊🏻🌲
@@ForestAnon Thank you man that really helps!
You ever thought about hiding a bike in some bushes so you can travel easier/faster?
I've actually thought about that exact idea! But me and bikes never got alone, I would always have a tire go flat or chain problems :( But I sure would like to have a skateboard. I miss skating so much!
@@ForestAnon Skateboard works too! You even have electric ones today, maybe you can put up a solar panel with a 2000 watt charger. Keep it up bro!
What would you do if I hiked out and visited you?
How cold does it get there, Forest Anon?
The coldest it has gotten is 5°f( -15°c) with a -15°f(-26°c) windchill, but the average for mid winter seems to be around the teens and twenties (f°) 👊🏻❄️
@@ForestAnon damn brother, what kind of sleep setup do you have to survive that?
My sleeping bag, a blanket to line it and the firepit 👍🏻
@@ForestAnon i have a lot of respect for that brother... I think I'd die, but i guess it depends on the sleeping bag
@@googleuser9624 You could do it too man it's not that bad! It's just about routine really. Early Antartica expeditions braved −77°f (−61°c) temps in tents 👊🏻
Hi
how do you get internet?
Mobile data 👍🏻
@@ForestAnon oh yeah ofc😅👍
Do you edit these from your phone brother?
Yes I do! :)
where did you set up camp? hard to find a place with stable climate that’s not susceptible to wildfires
I'm in the West so I'm definitely not safe from fires haha I had one rip through here in 2020! I should be safe for a good long while now though since it's so scarred 👊🏻
@@ForestAnon how did you deal with it? i live in northern arizona and there’s fires but i’ve never been effected, life is simple
It's in some of my videos 🏚 Saw the fire come over the hill and fled the woods, spent over 20 days in my tent down near the foothills waiting for it to stop burning! Re-entered while there were still hot spots and burning trunk holes haha. Then spent a while putting them out and cleaning up debris!
Do you ever see anything paranormal?
Never! At least not yet - the wildfire stopping in a circle around my cabin is the closest thing I've seen to anything supernatural out here 🌲
What advice do I have to someone that wants to get sober
I'm bad at advice but what helped me all the years I was sober is that you've got to replace it with something else and allow yourself no idle time! AA/NA do it but with their own coffee-marlboro-version of a higher power, and volunteering/community service. But you can do it with a knife, a sleepingbag and a big enough mountain. ⛰️ When you take the substance away you're left with a void you have to fill. Fill it with something that drives your heart and focus every atom on it.
@@ForestAnon thx I really appreciate and love your vids it’s my dream to do what you’re doing
Are you lonely out there? im miserable in mans world but I wonder if in be more miserable out there. please answer.
I only get lonely late at night sometimes when the fire's almost out and my brain is inactive, I start thinking about friends and old loves; the typical stuff. But when morning comes and the birds are all out I'm not lonely anymore. A little loneliness is worth some peace of mind. Loneliness in the middle of nowhere is much easier than the loneliness of a crowd. I love it out here! There are some rough moments - as with anything - but once you get into a routine and find your groove you're set forever. 👊🏻🌲
@@ForestAnon stay safe anon we love you
how do you upload your vids?
He has a phone with data, and a handcranked charged for his phone if I'm not wrong. His videos take hours to upload though 😅
With my mobile data! I can upload a pic of my editing on my community posts if you want 👊🏻
@@arra2296 Haha thank you ArRa man! This 9 minute video took 4 hours to upload 😂
@@ForestAnon haha yeah I know, I follow your Instagram too 😁👍🏻
@@ForestAnon love ya man
