Not only that, but the Passports only last about 1 year before they start having issues. It's a real shame because they used to make great quality products when the 8500 X50 and 9500 were the only options.
Paying a lot more on your insurance premium for getting a ticket plus the ticket is gonna cost a lot more than $749. It’s a good Investment and worth it in my opinion

Yes, i like running my escort max 360 with waze running on my phone, waze police warning + radar detector warning, is a pretty fantastic defense against a ticket.
The poor BSM filtering of the R7 is a deal breaker for me. The lack of GPS and forced phone integration in the Valentine is a deal breaker for me. The lack of direction arrows and auto-learning lockouts on the Radenso Pro M is a deal breaker for me. The $750 price tag of the Redline is a dealbreaker for me. All these things considered is why I bought the Max360 last week. Thanks for all the videos to help me make the decision, I’ve spent a lot of time watching your channel the past few weeks. Your videos made me an educated consumer and made me confident in my decision. Thanks for all your hard work!!!
Yeah I hear ya. I was originally gonna have the Max 360 in this video too as an honorable mention of you wanted autolockouts and better BSM filtering for $500, but it doesn’t have the range of the R7 which will also be getting autolockouts too. It’s all a trade-off and so it comes down to choosing the compromises that are best for you.
My 360 is practically silent to BSMs. The range of R7 and V1 significantly greater than the 360. But the 360 is certainly good enough. I have owned the V1 and currently use the 360.
Wow love for the Escort. I'm so excited that Escort is redeeming themselves. I just can't bring myself to spend that kind of money yet on a detector. My Max 360c was too damn expensive as it is when I purchased it back in July of 2019.
The R7 is great i Loved my R3 so i brought the R7 but for some reason the R7 isn't picking up the new Radar that they are using in Pasco County FL now and in NY with the red light and speed cameras it doesn't pick them up very good either so I splurged on the Redline 360c to try it out 2 red light camera tickets and it pays for itself and i have a very heavy foot because I'm use to driving a Ambulance but now retired
@@dude-us9gy it's picking up the new pasco County sheriff's as MRCD but its picking them up as K Band and then MRCD but I'm basically right on top of them at that point he got me the other day doing 74 in a 50 and it picked him up as a K band when i could already see his head lights and light bar and then seen him as MRCD not MRCT and same thing in NY with the read light and speed cameras as MRCD but basically as I'm right on top of them and at the rate they are putting the cameras up in NYC they aren't even on waze yet and when i go to add them they don't go onto waze that day or for weeks so it don't help no one I'm hoping the Redline 360c will give me a better chance enless you have a way to set up my R7 better i run it in Highway mode and even tried city mode to see if it was better but it wasn't the R7 has saved my ass way to many times for me to say anything bad about it just last week as I was driving to NY it gave me a almost half mile warning on K band for a sheriff's car on 95 like I said I Love my R7
See I would consider getting a more plug and play detector for someone else who isn't an enthusiast and doesn't want to fool around with tying it to their phone via bluetooth.
10:45 I have the same issue with the R7. While driving on the highway I always have to hit the mute button to silence a speed camera alert for a camera on a side street.
Does the RLC Q-Ride feature on the R7 help with this? I live in a rural area and don't have to worry with Redlight Cams. I know driving through Atlanta on the Interstates with other detectors I'd get alerted to RLCs on surface streets, so I understand the issue.
Steve F no because I’m at highway speeds and the quiet ride is set for street speeds so I’m always going over that speed when getting speed camera alerts while on the highway.
@@Ben7seven7 Ok, but the RLC Q-Ride is kind of the reverse of the regular Quiet Ride. If you set the speed on RLC Q-Ride to 50 mph for example, it shouldn't alert to Redlight Cams if you're going above 50. That's my understanding anyway, like I said, I am out in the boonies and don't get into urban areas much so I haven't used the RLC Q-Ride.
Thnk You Vortex for your clear cut information. Your video helped me decide on the original Escort Redline in 2017 and still today. However, It's showing its age with s a new hardware glitch and so I have to think about a new Redline 360c or New brand like the V1Gen2. I now know, again thanks to you that the 360c is more all-inclusive and probably the best choice. ( I will be trading my old one in if they give me a reasonable offer. ) Thank you very much! Scott
Very informative. Just this one video and I learned so much. Thank you! I feel like 5 minutes of it could have been shaved since you kind of repeated the same stuff a lot but whatever. I got the redline 360c on launch, bailed on it after initial runs and before updated firmware. It was worse than my max360 at that time. Now I want it back and it's backordered 🤷♂️ my R7 is awesome range but those false alerts are horrible around jeeps and honda.

I just leave it in my car mounted on my dashboard. If I feel like using Waze I just use my regular phone. I bought the R7 and I returned it the next day at BestBuy. It felt like a toy more than a radar to me. So, I bought the V2 and I should be receiving it tomorrow with overnight shipping. 😁
I Live in FL 75 percent off the time but spend time in NYC FL i use my R7 because there is no MRCD but in NYC I keep my Redline 360c on and have plenty of warning for the speed cameras and red light cameras I just updated my R7 with the hopes it worked better with the MRCD so the 750 for the redline 360c was worth it to use in NYC but my R7 seems to have the better range in FL so good and bad in both but you can't go wrong with either one the VIG2 I wasn't a big fan of but I can only wish that I could get one that did everything so I don't have to carry and switch up every time I travel the MRCD signal in the Redline is just crazy as these cameras pop up outta no where in NYC right now
I know this is an older blog, but could you cover the actual time you save driving across town, say 20 miles @ 10 mph more. How much time do you actually save? Which detectors have remote displays? And finally, a state by state breakdown of interstate speed limit enforcement and defense against a speeding ticket. For instance in Louisiana, if you have not had a ticket in that parish (county) in the last year, you can plead Article 892, you pay court costs, and if you do not get another ticket in that parish in the next six months, it is disposed.
Vortex, thanks for another great product overview video. What are your thoughts on the manufacturers though (quality/reliability/longevity of the companies' products, quality/level of customer service, warranty, etc.).
Great video thanks. I would get an R7 if it wasn’t for the bsm crap. I have an R3 and it’s pretty bad even with the K band hack fix they released. The R7 is going to have the same crappy filtering. To bad they don’t fix that. It would be an awesome detector for the money if they could . Guess I will still be waiting for Theia and see how that is.

I've used 3 Androids so far over the years and even despite the Samsung issues, getting a new phone again would not completely resolve all my other issues I mentioned so I don't plan on switching phones until there's a big reason to.
What turns me off about the redline360c is the oled screen. Might make sense for cost & manufacturing purposes, but the dang Oled screen had burn through after 1 year of owning the gen 2 IX. Plus you can’t see sh** with polarized sunglasses on.
Using an R7 in Texas here, wanted to point out that when I turn K band off and just leave Ka band on, I get no false alerts and a very quiet detector that only alerts when there is a legitimate radar threat.
Vortex Radar is K band in use in many places? I’ve only gotten a couple hits from legitimate K band (not speed sign) and they were all little departments in towns with 1 or 2 officers.
Vortex Radar Thank you for the information, I’ll have to look at turning K band back on. I appreciate all the work you’ve done on countermeasures and the quick responses.
Hi Isaac, my name is Isaac too & I also live in Texas! I drive our state's highways a lot and I encounter plenty of K band. Be careful if you disable it!
If your car has android car play you can link your second phone to it leave it the glove box and not have to worry about it. Connect it to full time power so no charging problems. They have 2 usb to 1 micro usb cables so you can charge and connect at the same time.
Unfortunately that wouldn’t solve the issue since the battery would still die eventually. Plus I use CarPlay with my main phone and none of the Android apps like JBV1 support Android Auto so all that will do is just charge my other phone.
@@VortexRadar In your Audi, you can run a USB power line from the fuse box, I do it in my A5. Rig up a wireless charging dock and you won't have to constantly disconnect the phone when taking it down from the mount.
My bad I didn't realize that, mine is hacked so it shows every app, so I use a dedicated android in the glove box with full time charging with y connector so I can use a different charger and be connected to the radio, works with no problems.
Just recently used your r7 cheat sheet to get mine to stop false alerting so much. Was almost wanting to go back to my r3 with how bad it’s been. Appreciate all the time you put into this to help ppl like me out. Btw, does x band sensitivity matter when it’s off anyways? You have yours at 100% even when turned off, I changed mine to 30 just because that was the lowest option and I don’t have x band in Oregon.
Sadly as a car need I added the max360 and it is virtually useless in CA, OR and NV. The add on dashcam is not bad but not as good as a standalone. It caught one hidden CHP unit north of Weed/Shasta

My question is simple I own an r3 now I'm so sick of the laser false alarms I deactivate laser out of these 3 radar detectors which one has the least laser false alarms and the least radar false alarms ????????? Any help would be greatly appreciated and if you can please do a video on just false alarms in general from the worst to the best of the best thank you for your time and be safe. Ps love your videos
Not gonna lie, I know almost nothing about radar detectors, I don’t speed in the cities but mostly on my longer spirited road trips, by go to roadtrip detector I assume they mean that it can detect radar signals a mile or more up the road if the officer is actively using their scanner? It seems more or less pointless for me to buy a detector if it’s only used after I’ve been scanned
What is the most undetectable one on the market and if you power it down instantly is it undetectable? And as I travel thru states that it isn't allowed if it's powered off its not detectable right?
I think I will buy myself the redline 360 for a Christmas present. Do you think they will have all the bugs out by then? Where do I go to get your set up options for this radar detector? Also I have a Redline EX that I hate, it is only 2 years old. Should I trade it in on the new 360 or sell it outright? What do you think I should sell it for? I know I am going to take a beating on it for what I paid for it. Thank you for your time and all your knowledge! God bless you
So would it be possible to put a detector in a Faraday box with only the sensors let thru and also if you instantly power it off can it be detected by a radar detector?
Do any of these detectors connect to Waze/Maps and integrate police alerts? Perhaps this is the GPS feature. I find those to be very informative. Great video!
Sort of. Escort has their own similar feature with Escort Live, but it's not as heavily used as Waze. The V1 has integration with JBV1 which can do some of that stuff too, but it only happens on the phone, not the detector.
A million thumps up for disabling the in video commercials.

Nice! Just got the R7 new from Amazon for $389! Pretty sure it was a one day deal bc it's back to $450.
Which company R7 it is best I buying first time
I’ve got a Max360C installed in my car. I guess I should upgrade to a Redline since it’ll just work with my mount etc.
Just can't see having to run an app on my phone with the detector.
R7 all the way
Does your detector report aircraft? I haven't even decided on a detector yet, but I run JBV1 in standalone mode along with Waze.
@@dr.burtgummerfan439 I run the JBV1 and Waze as well on a Lenovo tablet. It connects to the V1G2 and makes for a total solution. The tablet is a permanent mount in my car. I use the car hotspot for the wifi for the tablet. it works GREAT and is feature full. It keeps my phone separate since I do lots of calls while driving (bluetooth) Highly recommend.
Vortex Radar is the escort bsm filtering significantly better than the R7 or only marginally better?
Vortex Radar conversely, is the R7’s range significantly better than the Max360 or is it only marginally better?
My 360 is practically silent to BSMs. The range of R7 and V1 significantly greater than the 360. But the 360 is certainly good enough. I have owned the V1 and currently use the 360.
Wow love for the Escort. I'm so excited that Escort is redeeming themselves. I just can't bring myself to spend that kind of money yet on a detector. My Max 360c was too damn expensive as it is when I purchased it back in July of 2019.
Marlon Hester how much did you pay for the max ?
Best Buy in Texas has uniden R7 399.99 and r3 299.99 cant beat that deal
The R7 is great i Loved my R3 so i brought the R7 but for some reason the R7 isn't picking up the new Radar that they are using in Pasco County FL now and in NY with the red light and speed cameras it doesn't pick them up very good either so I splurged on the Redline 360c to try it out 2 red light camera tickets and it pays for itself and i have a very heavy foot because I'm use to driving a Ambulance but now retired
stan cummings is it mrcd and mrct??
I just purchased and having my Escort Max 360 direct wired today. See how it works.
Awesome breakdown of these detectors as usual! Thanks!
Love your channel man.. you're the best reviewer out there for these badass gadgets my brotha.. keepem coming man
Can't wait to get my V1G2. I'm running an old school V1. My fiance will get it when I get the G2. She drives entirely too fast. Lol
See I would consider getting a more plug and play detector for someone else who isn't an enthusiast and doesn't want to fool around with tying it to their phone via bluetooth.
@@vedder10 well, I run a old shool V1 with JBV1. I will configure it for her with V1 Driver (iPhone). I'm an IT guy...
The G2 is badass, my favorite purchase so far this year.
Fuzzy Fear I had mine 4 weeks and a few days now. Use with with V1 driver. Been working great. And you?
I can’t wait to get mine either. I’m going to take advantage of the upgrade program to send in my V1 and get the V2 at a discount.
Great synthesis of info and overall clarity! Thanks!
Steve F yes you’re right regarding the RLC Quiet Ride. It’s the speed cameras alerts that can be annoying on the highway.
Depends on how you hard wire it. Mine is hard wire to acc on my 2019 tacoma fuse block zero issues.
By the time Radenso release Theia it will come with a free hoverboard...
They always said they were going to release it in 2020 and they will.

( I will be trading my old one in if they give me a reasonable offer. )
Thank you very much! Scott

Got escort on back order. Bought a new Mercedes and already had one ticket within the first two weeks😩. Thanks for giving a break down of the radars!

Great info! Thanks for all of your work.
I wish you covered dash-cams also, great videos anyways.
Very informative. Just this one video and I learned so much. Thank you! I feel like 5 minutes of it could have been shaved since you kind of repeated the same stuff a lot but whatever. Just nice to see someone actually know everything about what they’re making a video about unlike most utubers it seems like. Keep up the good work👍👍👍
That Valentine V2 looks like a killer option
Liked, thanks so much for all the info! Still waiting for Theia though. Great job pronouncing Saskatchewan as well.

Great video! So many choices
Awesome review! Thx for sharing. 👍
Hopefully Theia will be released soon before 2021. Living in Virginia the escort is the best option now but will wait to see if Theia will a game changer
Every time you talk about the detectors differences I’m glad I got an R7.
I got the redline 360c on launch, bailed on it after initial runs and before updated firmware. It was worse than my max360 at that time. Now I want it back and it's backordered 🤷♂️ my R7 is awesome range but those false alerts are horrible around jeeps and honda.
Sir which company is R7 I buying first time
Great content! Excellent. The standard that others should strive for. Keep it up!

@@saprano1972 I like my radar detectors to have independent gps 🤣 jk jbv1 with v1g2 is insane but I don't want to mess with my phone I want my radar detector to be able to function solo and redline 360 is too expensive
@@matthewmiranda5404 mmmm, buy an older IPhone or Android phone that’s compatible with V1 3rd party apps. For example I have an IPhone 5 dedicated to my music playlist and V1 Radar. 😁
Good stuff. This was the one I've been needing.
Thank you so much for such valuable information!!! Can you please tell me wich is the best radar detector for motorcycles??? Thank you
I Live in FL 75 percent off the time but spend time in NYC FL i use my R7 because there is no MRCD but in NYC I keep my Redline 360c on and have plenty of warning for the speed cameras and red light cameras I just updated my R7 with the hopes it worked better with the MRCD so the 750 for the redline 360c was worth it to use in NYC but my R7 seems to have the better range in FL so good and bad in both but you can't go wrong with either one the VIG2 I wasn't a big fan of but I can only wish that I could get one that did everything so I don't have to carry and switch up every time I travel the MRCD signal in the Redline is just crazy as these cameras pop up outta no where in NYC right now
Uniden R3 has served me well
I know this is an older blog, but could you cover the actual time you save driving across town, say 20 miles @ 10 mph more.
I wish the uniden r7 was cheaper I really want it, the r3 is still plenty good.
Think about it as cost of a ticket and increased insurance rates. Then it is a bargain [logic that I used for my wife!].
Yep my R3 is still as strong as the day I got it.
They are selling refurbished ones on their website for around $400
Yeah you can pick up a refurb R7 on Amazon for cheap too if you don’t wanna pay the full $500 :) amzn.to/2ORxl06
Best Buy drops the R7s price down to 450 every so often.
Vortex, thanks for another great product overview video. What are your thoughts on the manufacturers though (quality/reliability/longevity of the companies' products, quality/level of customer service, warranty, etc.).
I am looking for stealth or undetected units. That won't break my waller. But the best also. Thanks
Thanks awesome overview

Vortex i know your an Apple guy but probably try a different android phone.. my old Samsung used to dim the screen constantly regardless.. Got a Sony xperia and it's fantastic especially being plugged in for extended does a good job keeping cool and batery monitoring

I'm very happy with the R3 but the redline looks nice if they would stock the darn thing.

You need to just sell the V1G2 to me so you won't be hassled as much. lol
Using an R7 in Texas here, wanted to point out that when I turn K band off and just leave Ka band on, I get no false alerts and a very quiet detector that only alerts when there is a legitimate radar threat.
That’s a great solution if you don’t have much K band in use in your area, but that’s really risky for most people in the US.
Vortex Radar is K band in use in many places? I’ve only gotten a couple hits from legitimate K band (not speed sign) and they were all little departments in towns with 1 or 2 officers.
Yep, in most of the country, including throughout Texas.
www.rdforum.org/threads/102814/
My phone mount is already a wireless charger.
@@VortexRadar I should have noticed that in the video.
If you turn off X band altogether, the X band sensitivity option no longer matters since it won't do anything. :)
Great stuff! Any chance anyone can provide insights to the Bel 850STi and how to set buttons?
great review.. ty
Sounds like redline 360 is the clear winner.
25:30 sounds like you need to switch to a quality vent mount so its getting more airflow over that phone so it doesn't overheat
The overheating issues are primarily when I'm parked and the phone sits in the sun. When I start driving with the AC running, it eventually cools off.
@@VortexRadar I have a vertically mounted wireless charging mount in my car to make it easy to remove the phone when I'm parked.
Sadly as a car need I added the max360 and it is virtually useless in CA, OR and NV. The add on dashcam is not bad but not as good as a standalone. It caught one hidden CHP unit north of Weed/Shasta
Why can’t they have jbb1 for Apple. Fml. I liked seeing the Washington maps. I commute from pdx to Seattle often. In a Porsche. I’ve tried them all but escort redline. Thanks for review I’m buying one now. Cheers.
I LOVE my R7, except when it see Mazda SUVs here in New Zealand

Wow great job on your channel, you have the best detector channel on you tube 👏
Oh, and I got the dashcam, boom!
What is the most undetectable one on the market and if you power it down instantly is it undetectable? And as I travel thru states that it isn't allowed if it's powered off its not detectable right?
Which one offers better laser detection. Both states that I drive are starting to use more laser. I actually seen more laser use then KA lately
If u have corolla what laser u recomend
