I am in the process of buying a motorhome ( not the first one we own) and I was reading in the description a "dry flush toilet" and you are the first one to explain this to me.
30 years ago I became aware of how much one can do for the environment by simply recycling. I read a few books from environmentalist leaders and I became a master recycler. Later I realized that as we are recycling on one end someone is making the same product behind us. We just have to walk in any supermarket isle to realize how much garbage we are producing by participating in buying all of that. And not all the world has good recycling facilities, and all of that is sold all over the world. We have had the privilege to have traveled to many countries. The same laundry and toiletries you buy in the USA you see them all over the Earth. I go to supermarkets when we travel to see what people use for every day life and to see prices to understand how much they spend in those items. Some people in developed countries refuse to participate and recycle because "they don't have time".
9 Million tooth paste tubes get thrown into the landfill sites yearly. They are not recyclable and it would take 500 years to break down. I can go on and on but if you think about it, what we are doing as a human race is incredibly damaging... and stupid for our planet and the future of our children and their children...
I use now laundry strips ( I always used powdered detergent like my mother did), shampoo bars for my hair and it is fantastic and shoulder length, tooth powder which I keep in a little glass refillable jar, wool drying balls for when I rarely use the dryer ( I hang my clothes in a special device I saw in Europe that with a rope and pullies I lift to the highest part of a high ceiling room, I live in Canada so there is not much sun here yet with ingenuity I conserve energy), they replace fabric softener which I never used but they also speed up the drying process and fluff fabric. And with those and many other changes I cut down in my recyclable needs...to leave a cleaner Earth for my grandchildren and yours.
The dry flush toilet is an idea, but a terrible idea for the environment. It just creates more garbage in a very unsanitary way. Human defecation should not go to the landfill sites. It should go into the sewage plants. The idea that is "very sanitary" is such a mistake...I find that the "canister" is a total disregard for the environment, creating garbage for no real reason. And how incredibly embarrassing it would be for ME to take a smelly large bag full of human defecation into "the garbage". Whose garbage? A camp site? Where one wants to be and enjoy nature? To leave that in the common garbage bins? What if something pierces the bag and the smell comes out upsetting the area? The garbage bins in the street of a nice passing town? And leaving that unrecyclable material in their landfill site? Why? No no my friend...I will make sure that any motorhome we buy DOES NOT have a DRY FLUSH TOILET. No way! I will use the old style water flushing toilet and black holding tank. Under no circumstances I am participating in that absolutely irresponsible practice of putting human feces and urine wrapped in environmentally unfriendly shinny-metal-looking plastic with a hard plastic canister and a black nylon bag into other's landfill sites.
I am of the opinion that those dry flushing toilets should be outlawed.
We travel around the sun in the same planet, what we do affects all its inhabitants. Knowledge is power. Now you know THAT is a very bad idea for our planet. Talk to the owner of the company and ask him to invent and manufacture an environmentally friendly toilet for all his grandchildren's future, and your children and grandchildren...and everyone's. He is a veteran so he is old enough to be a grandfather. Maybe he didn't think on the garbage he is creating....We all think on that for our daily use items and even the rarely or seldom used items. My garbage contribution is about one 80 L bin every 6 months. I know most households throw that much once a week. If I can do it everybody can.

Bought one, used it and it works good for the first 8-10 flushes. But, when you go to take the filled liner out of it to dispose of it, it is very heavy and your poop piles up in the center and it can eventually make contact with your bottom. I would recommend the manufacturer make smaller liners to handle only 6-8 flushes.

Bought one, used it and it works good for the first 8-10 flushes. But, when you go to take the filled liner out of it to dispose of it, it is very heavy and your poop piles up in the center and it can eventually make contact with your bottom. I would recommend the manufacturer make smaller liners to handle only 6-8 flushes.

yeah I see a flaw to this...depending if u poop more or pee more, it will drastically affect the uses per refill. u might poop and use a bunch of toilet paper....all of a sudden ur toilet bucket is full but u still have unspent silver canister. or u pee a lot using a lot of the silver canister but the bucket is not full at all. if these replacements are pricy it will be troublesome if the bucket gets full before u run out of silver canister. I still think this is an amazing product, much much better than a compost toilet which is just gross when u think about emptying the thing.

I put it in a master bedroom closet with a curtain. It will receive occasional use and save me thousands and thousands of dollars installing a second bathroom. I would have had to drill through a concrete foundation to run plumbing to the opposite side of my house. It wasn't going to happen. Now there is an emergency respite if the other bathroom is tied up.

Here is my toilet inside my van. I use a bucket and a pee bottle. I insert a plant based bio degradable bag inside the bucket. I add cat litter at the bottom and every time I do business (number 2), I cover it with cat litter. I re use the same bag at until it's full. Once the bag is full, i dig a hole and bury it. Everything is biodegradable so i am not worried about chemicals or waste. My bag is plant based and biodegradable, my cat litter is all natural and when I am out, i either add dried leaves or wood saw from work. And my poop is also biodegradable and good fertilizer once broken down. When I have to piss, i I usually do it outside and piss on a tree. Good fertilizer. If its ugly outside aka rain and so on, I piss in my emergency pee bottle. No waste at all. Everything at the end goes back to nature. Also, i am sure some will ask me what about the smell. Here is the thing. Because i keep solids away from liquids and so on, there are no moisture or liquid to attract bacterias which attracts in return produces the smell via gas. The cat liter also does an amazing job at keeping the smell from the bacterias from the poop. So far, I have been doing this and using this system for over three years. It took practice after few months. Learn from the cats. They know better.

It's a fairly good concept/design, however, I can see a problem with the waste decomposing too fast in warm/hot environments, which is going to cause the bag to produce gas and expand to a point where leakage or bag breakage could create odor and/or a huge mess + this would also force the user to change out the mylar bag prematurely which would increase cost. That said, archeologists 1000s of yrs from now will wonder wth we were thinking/doing packing our waste into giant shiney plastic tubes ...lol... :'(
