The reason we kept spending is because Usminov had the money and was sponsoring everything that moved(like City),shirts, stadium, training ground,so he could cover our arses but once the proxy war came along we were fucked..Good show lads (Evertonian here)
Another Blue Here Chaps. Must say, really enjoyed this, seeing the view of lads from our City who have Blue mates. Most of my mates are Reds tbh and we always have deep conversations about football, Liverpool, Everton and the state of the Prem. We have grown up conversations as fellow scousers when we look beyond the tribalism. Tbh I wouldn't wish being an Evertonian on any of my Red mates because as you guys know, football means soooo much on merseyside and has a big impact on ours lives. It's so f**king hard being a Blue lads, it just messes with your head all the time, it's a wonder we're not all in straight jackets.
I'm a bluenose and I can't argue with most of what you said. Everton has been so badly run and while I don't agree with the points deduction, I definitely think that the board and owner shouldn't be anywhere near the club. They're utterly incompetent and embarrassing.
@@thelatechallengepodcast Appreciate late night erudition. As Paul said: life brings no sense of justice, but a thoughtful appraisal of Bluenose incompetence brings a smile to a jaded face.
When you say about us ''where's the fun in it?'', there's honestly isn't any. If you really care about it, as we all do, it's miserable. We all say at various times ''I might sack this off'' but realistically, you're not going to stop supporting your team, so you just have to endure it and hope one day things are different. My dad and his generation grew up with Everton genuinely being one of the big clubs, and having success at different times and since probably the mid 90s, it's a horrible experience. In the back of my mind, I do think ''if we ever have good times in the future, this horrible time will make it even sweeter''. You have to tell yourself stuff like this as a coping mechanism. Appreciate that fact that you tried to understand how it feels.
Brilliant lads, really enjoyed that. Some funny stuff discussed but also a good chunk of sensible chat about the current plight of the blues. I’m the same, in the sense that I don’t want them to be successful in terms of winning stuff. But what happens to Everton does heavily effect 2 areas of the city that have many issues respectively. Would ultimately like the effect to be of a positive nature. Where they’re moving from and to can greatly benefit from this if done in the right way. Which is only a good thing for our city. Footy clubs are the lifeblood of communities wherever they exist and have a huge and lasting impact on the people around them 👍
Another boss show lads. We'll probably never see Man City be punished whilst they have owners rich enough to carry on giving the Premier league backhanders to keep quiet. Footy is fucked. YNWA
Hi lads, love the show. Have you ever thought about clipping up the podcast and putting 10 min videos out on the channel, might help to grow the channel as they would be more likely to get into peoples suggested viewings.
Under normal circumstances, you make my teeth itch. HOWEVER. This issue goes beyond local rivalry and impacts every fan of every club in English football. It's nuts and it's good to hear that even our closest, most vitriolic rivals recognize how mad this is. Football fans have to leave tribalism behind and unite to get the game back.
Selling and buying players comes down to how those deals are structured. Maybe Digne sold and myco/Patterson bought at a 5m loss maybe cash up front for the sale and structured payments for the new buys. Its not as simple as the reported figure in the press. In lampards era theres also sales of richie and Gordon which were well higher than the players bought in.
Sounds like Leon Osman's telling some fibs in his book. They lost 4-0 to Aston Villa on Boxing Day 2005, with Per Krøldrup at centre back, but John Carew didn't sign for Villa until 2007. Milan Baros was up front for Villa that day and scored a brace. But anyway, great show, as usual. 👍🏻
If Everton aren't a "big" club, they certainly aren't a "small" club either. I know we laugh about 1995, but they've still won a lot of silverware over the years. They have a huge fanbase that covers the globe (including Norway) and they've been a constant presence in the Premier League (in itself no mean feat) despite not having the same financial resources as others. I've honestly never seen them as a "small club".
We ain't many in Norway but we are better than the red sheep following the herd. It takes grit to dare to get a beerbottle in the head in every footballpub in this country for wearing blue. COYB! 😁
This 'big' and 'small' club is just nonsense. There is no metric system in this. What makes you big or small? Titles? Fans? Money? And if so, how many? Besides, every club is the biggest club in the universe in the eyes of it's supporters.
Enjoyed listening to this! But, really funny you didn’t know what KC means! 😂 Next you’ll say “Hey, come and look at this meff who’s on the coins now!” 😂
Sensible podcast about Everton for once. Well done chaps. 🐝💤 have a superb owner , who spends according to what he can afford. ie, Neal Maupay , hopeless for you. We were over the moon to have him back., because that’s all we could afford. We have to work on a budget. Unfortunately your 🤡 has ruined your great club.
Don't have to imagine it. Am it. Almost shrugged my shoulders at the sanction. Was expecting it, if harsha t more than previously for a club going into administration and not paying any of its bills, and am certain that the same severity - for far worse "crimes" of Man City - will not be coming for the new megaclub
The PL did move the goal posts halfway through the PSR period as well, Everton weren't allowed to write off money they spent on the stadium expecting to be able to write it off. City has gone on for over 5 years and Chelsea have already admitted guilt, yet no "independent" commission for them. I honestly think they'll never get punished.
the pl have opened the door now on FFp charges enforcement by taking a swing at Everton here's hoping they have the same big balls when it comes to city
Don't forget our fine. Liverpool paid a £1m settlement to Manchester City after the Etihad club complained that their scouting system had been hacked. We have to air out our own dirty laundry if we are going out at everyone else imo. Am I'm a LFC supporter.
Sound mate. It’s hardly comparable like but yeah. They still had a login from working at City and settled when City complained. The owners independent from any other stakeholder also tried to create a locked in Super League. That was grim too.
Usmanov was always the real money, the sham of Moshiri and the fact that those owners have messed up Everton. It is always the Fans that suffer, but the real issues for me is how did the process decide that 10pts was an appropriate punishment in this case? In my view City and Chelsea should have every pt gained since 2008 and 2003 they are the real cheats. However we all know nothing will happen to City or Chelsea. That ship has sailed and been sunk and will never be salvaged. The game is far too corrupt now and we all know it.
All rivalry banter aside, deducting points for financial discrepancies is just wrong. Punish the clubs on a financial or administrative level. The players and managers have nothing to do with it, the points were won on the pitch, playing the game
I sort of agree, but the punishment has to be a deterrent. Too many big businesses do the wrong thing, cop the fine as just the cost of doing business.
The 3 examples you gave of poor signings were the wrong ones. You could have picked 20-30 worse ones! James was loved by us all and came in for free. Granted, we paid him loads but was still a bargain and we should have kept him. Gylfi was sacked as you know and we couldn't get a penny back...we really needed him in the last 2 seasons...and Dele cost us next to nothing unless we do end up activating the contract soon.
Oh I'm sure, mate. We didn't have time to get into absolutely everything. James is mad money and that's the point. Ali clearly had issues and again isn't cheap. You can't say in general terms that the money was spent well.
Enjoyable watch tbf, mostly seeing the obvious face of the operation 😉 educate the so called brains 🤣 Took most people a millisecond to figure out what a KC is 😳 Granted it did take face about 10 seconds but he is a kopite. So we need to account for the delay 😅 In fairness tho you did try to see things from our point of view, even tho that can't have been easy. So nice one 👍👏 💙
Don't forget Spurs 15 pt deduction in 1994 which was later overturned. Just on the titles point if City & Chelsea are found guilty would that mean Everton wouldn't have failed PSR as those clubs effectively were taking money that would have flowed to EFC (and others) over the past 20 years ?😅 Kings Counsel is right - stick to the podcasts!😂
Lads. You keep banging on about the Saudi league spun king cash and arrogance left right and centre. What about the Premier League? The Saudis have learned from us, splashing the cash, draining south America and Africa of all their best talent. The PL have been empire building since the moment it was created.
Built on a slightly different base though, wasn’t it? No one in the PL gets attendances of 133. Players want to come here for their career, and to represent famous clubs as well as the money. Saudi moves are only motivated by money. Not really comparable in terms of culture, support and so on is it?

The report doesn't say they didn't get a sporting advantage. It says they don't believe they broke the rules for the purpose of gaining one but, one must be assumed for the entirety of the period where the offence occured - i.e. for a 4 year period. It also says the degree of sporting advantage cannot be quantified.
