I thought it was endearing that he was visibly nervous to be honest. Helped not just view him as a performer and see that he’s a just a person. Seems kind of obvious but you know what I mean. There are two times in the song that makes me want to cry: the first time is when we first hear the chorus, the second time is when the chorus changes from dos oruguitas to ay mariposas. Don't know why but it is so beautifully! Offcourse the movie doesn't make it easier not to 😭

the truth is that sebastian is such a big talent not only in colombia but in all the world for example i am from italy,i followed his journey since his beginnings he deserves so much more,i am so proud and blessed to support him and know his dischography i swear he put his heart in every song he make.
It was an awesome performance, so sentimental. The whispering is because of his native accent. He was definitely emotional. It was a "once in a life" moment for him. Just beautiful and audience felt it too. They had melted faces.
My Sebastian is the best!! Colombia is so proud of him. Oruguitas, the lyrics, the music, the dancers, the stage...Everything was gorgous. .Viva Colombia, nuestra gente, nuestra diversidad, cultura, músic, comida, etc y nuestros idioma el Español!!
His voice reminds me of Enrique Iglesias so much. The vulnerability in his voice is something I usually don't like...but he does this in a way that creates an amazing intimacy.
I’ve been waiting for your reaction to Encanto’s songs in Spanish and I simply adored it! And seeing you trying to sing in our language 🥰 amazing! Greetings from Colombia ❤️🇨🇴
My Spanish is VERY limited so it’s hard to give an example of vocal technique while trying to remember how to even say the words. I was worried I might offend viewers but I really wanted to review his performance. Thanks for being gentle ❤️
When I saw an Interview before the show of the Grammys he said, we has so happy and nervous to represent our country 🇨🇴🥺 I’m still super proud of him ❤️
Yeah I'm sure there were so many actors there that he's looked up to since he was a child that he would never imagine in his life he'd get the chance to meet. To sing in front of such an audience knowing that's it's being also broadcast to people all be around the world and knowing he's singing to represent his whole country and culture, that was such a lot of pressure. Also yes while I'm sure he's played to much larger crowds before this. However, this kind of situation for most people is a once in a lifetime situation. He did incredibly well given that kind of pressure. Plus let's be honest given where the song is in the movie the fact he sounds nervous isn't necessarily a bad thing. It perhaps brings into the presentation of the song the fears and anxiety that Abuelo Pedro and Abuela Alma felt when forced to leave their homes.
sebastian yatra is a great singer who was on the grammys, latin grammys, billboards or latin billboards. and their songs surpass in views theweeknd, billie eillis or ariana grande. I didn't see him nervous
It's so surprising to think that here in Latin America he is an extremely well known artist, everyone knows at least one of his songs but still, neither one of his performances has been as big as this so it's so sweet seeing such a huge artist being nervous about the next step of his career and new people being introduced to him
Yatra isnt really shy tbh. if you listen to all his other songs you will notice how confident he is. and he doesnt whisper in his other songs btw. he is actually pretty loud. WHICH I LOVE!! he is my fav. but like whoever said he was shy got it all wrong!!
i think ppl outside latin america just discovered yatra even tho he is like mega famous lmao he was a coach on the voice he’s not like a little underground and shy artist
He is a shy person though, being shy doesn't mean you can't have confidence or that you can't at all be loud and perform in front of an audience. That would be social anxiety or something. I am shy, and I go out of my comfort zone regularly with confidence. It isn't a bad trait to have, if anything it makes him cuter and relatable.
when me and my family watched this for the first time my parents automatically identified him as the singer of dos oruguitas just from his voice. I even saw my mom smile at my dad as soon as she heard the first word :]
Of course!! I would be nervous too! Not even to most professional vocal coach in the world would be able to sing as he did. This is probable the best performance from a Latinx artist at the Oscars so far! Amazing job Sebastian!
What an amazing performance! Yes, he does have a super soft voice but can also sing with strength too which I love about him. If you watch his performance of "Sutra" at the Festival de Viña you will see the grit and strength he can also give. It's definitely worth checking out! In fact the whole concert is worth watching. He's a brilliant performer! Anyway, I loved your reaction and analysis (always do)! I've sent this to Sebastián's PR team in hopes she will pass this on to him💕
Loved his performance so fun hearing it live in this setting. Other encanto performance was so eh I wanted to hear the cast sing but they got other singer & different lyrics which Lin didn't write too it was all Oscar's work
I would be throwing up before during and after. It’s the Oscar’s and you’re singing a song from one of the biggest movies of the year…I’d bout pass out. He did amazing!
I will never get over the fact that the guy who sings the climax song in a movie about violent displacement of communities and generational trauma is such an admirer of the politician that has been one of the main responsables of such an atrocious series of incidents in my country. He does kill it, though. Lin Manuel is a genius.
His performance reflects his personality and behavior, i love it ! Its a natural reaction of 1st performance in front of the hollywood starts!!! Omg!! I love this !!!! More power sebastian !
As a shy person who also loves performing I feel this so much. My drama teacher always had me do 10 star jumps before going on stage. It's a weird mix of wanting to be nowhere else but on that stage but also wanting to be anywhere else. I just want to give him a big hug.
My choir teacher told us that it’s ok for us to be nervous when we’re practicing but once we get on stage we need to get confidence and that on that stage we are who is in control and that the entire audience has to listen to us so we should be a little more selfish and think of ourselves as the best singer in the world just for that moment
Well Colombian very young artist singing on Oscars whitch he propably never imagine will happen, in front of most popular people on this planet, there is nothing wrong he was nervous. Well shame this song didnt win because i dont like bond song, and i basicly dont like Billie Elishs music so.....
As a musician, I would love to handle the pressure of being the center of attention in that moment. Even if he’s so nervous he was able to handle a situation that normally make us tumbling down (I speak as a musician/performer)😮👏🏼
Love Sebas! He’s on The Voice Kids Spain currently as a coach & he is such a positive role model for the kids. I love this side of him we don’t often get to see . He has a ton of energy yet so calming. Hope his team wins!
Saw that watching it and I was impressed that despite the nerves you couldn't tell in his voice. When I'm nervous, I don't shake, but my voice is tense and rattled. Hats off to him.
The way he had his eyes closed and was grabbing the mic and at the end when he stretched out his hand,I saw how it was shaking. Even A list actors get nervous up there.
He sang beautifully. He's a handsome guy, a kind look on his face which many moms would approve. But I just went to his Instagram and 🙈🙈🙈 Btw I believe he sang live, I can hear his voice when he pull the mic away.
Ive been following him since he whent to my highschool in 2015 or something before he was even on colombias radio and was playing on school events to promote his music im so proud he deserves this and more... greeting form colombia 🇨🇴🇨🇴 please react to fantasia or dharma or even carlos vives he also has a song in encanto and is one of the biggest colombian artists in the world
I'm a Colombian woman, age 51, who's never left the country and I must confess that before THIS performance I didn't like Yatra at all. While watching the Oscars with my husband, when I noticed his hand shaking, his candor, and the country pride pouring out of his pores and voice, I totally fell in love with him; I took the liberty of standing on his shoes for a bit and wondered who of his crushes and/or idols were part of the audience, aside from being the first Colombian singing a song in Spanish at the Kodak Theater for such a night, aside from country pressure and his own pressure... you'd be mad not to be nervous!! All I wanted to do was give him a cup of warm aguapanelita con leche and hold him in my arms!! BTW, thank you for reacting to him and our country. 💛💙❤❤
I don't know why... but i just LOVE his hanfs shakig? I mean idk it just gets me even more hyped while watchingg❤❤ Gotta admit, im not the biggest Yatra fan (just wasn't really my vibe musically)... but his more recent work i'm liking more and more, and i love it!

Not the same singing for Spanish listeners vs Oscars (english) listeners.
There’s the Disney’s live performance of Dos Oruguitas to which you should absolutely react. It gives me chills every time ♥️
when me and my family watched this for the first time my parents automatically identified him as the singer of dos oruguitas just from his voice.
I've sent this to Sebastián's PR team in hopes she will pass this on to him💕
Hermosa presentación de Sebastián Yatra orgullo de Colombia y Latinoamérica 👏👏👏
His nervousness does add to the overall tone and feel to the song.
He is not only known in his country, but in ALL Latin America :)
He literally cried after this performance. He was so nervous! 🥺 He shared the video in his Instagram account.
His voice is intoxicating. I will continue to listen to his music in the future
This is such a beautiful song and such an emotional scene it’s impossible for me to listen with out tearing
Love Sebas! He’s on The Voice Kids Spain currently as a coach & he is such a positive role model for the kids. I love this side of him we don’t often get to see . He has a ton of energy yet so calming. Hope his team wins!
I know this movie inside and out and listening to the song is taking me to the emotions of that scene in Encanto.
stunning performance
Saw that watching it and I was impressed that despite the nerves you couldn't tell in his voice. When I'm nervous, I don't shake, but my voice is tense and rattled. Hats off to him.
In the close ups you could see his hands shaking a little bit, but it didn't effect his singing one bit! He was fantastic!! ❤️
Thank you so much for reviewing this so fast! I saw his hand shake and I just wanted to hug him too! 🥹
He did such a fantastic job! Especially since he was so nervous. I hope he’s happy with the performance 💕
Thank you for your analisys. Im from Colombia. It was amaizing to watch how Sebastian sing that beautifull song
We all want to hug him. 😍
Sebastián Yatra puts a lot of feeling in his songs, and the lyrics are just ❤
Check out his song “Como Mirarte” is really beautiful!
He dose suffer from panic attacks first time for him on that stage I’m so proud of him
He was extraordinary ❤️ thanks a lot for talking about this beautiful performance. I knew you with this video and you won a new subscriber 💐❤️
I cannot speak Spanish, but I know the lyrics of your song by heart. it just shows how wonderful this song is! ❤️
The way he had his eyes closed and was grabbing the mic and at the end when he stretched out his hand,I saw how it was shaking. Even A list actors get nervous up there.
He sang beautifully. He's a handsome guy, a kind look on his face which many moms would approve. But I just went to his Instagram and 🙈🙈🙈
Btw I believe he sang live, I can hear his voice when he pull the mic away.
I feel exactly what you feel.
I'm literally dieing here.
Ive been following him since he whent to my highschool in 2015 or something before he was even on colombias radio and was playing on school events to promote his music im so proud he deserves this and more... greeting form colombia 🇨🇴🇨🇴 please react to fantasia or dharma or even carlos vives he also has a song in encanto and is one of the biggest colombian artists in the world
I completely agree with you. on everything. They needed to give him more volume.
He's so pretty
I don't know why... but i just LOVE his hanfs shakig? I mean idk it just gets me even more hyped while watchingg❤❤
Gotta admit, im not the biggest Yatra fan (just wasn't really my vibe musically)... but his more recent work i'm liking more and more, and i love it!
