Hello Ed. Thank you for sharing the progress on the Dendrochilum . They are amazing under your care. May I wish you a wonderful holiday vacation. Catherine.
Unexpected growths and even spikes is simply the best and most pleasant thing in the orchid hobby ... means that we got something right at least. Somehow each and everybody has to figure out for themselves to be successful and try to fullfill the needs of their orchids. Wish you well desereved holodays, Anna
Thank you Anna for your comment. I agree with every word you say about cultivating our orchids.........I'll try and enjoy the break...it's the first time since 2015. Thank you once again and take care, Ed.
Just shows that your care has suited these little orchids. Will be exciting to see the blooms in due course. Have a lovely break away, enjoy that sea air x
Thank you Lesley. I'll have to be well wrapped up for a walk along the beach, the weather says it's going to be cold. Never mind there are some fabulous seafood restuarants close by....Take care and thank you, Ed.
Looking forward to the rest P C ........although we will have to wrap up well at this time of the year......maybe I'll have some surprises on my return!!! Ed/
Hi Jay.. The adult plant was given to me in not a very good shape to do something with. I cleaned and split it into over twenty small divisions. I've never had Dendrochilum so I didn't really know if I was doing right or wrong. They've taken months to get going. I presume that they flower in the northern hemisphere in the Autumn. I will certainly enjoy the break Jay.....thank you. Ed
I'll do my best to enjoy the break. I think the greenhouse will be OK left for a week,,,,,but the break comes first!!!! Thanks again tess and take care. Ed.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I recently acquired a Dendrochilum! Never thought I would but won raffle… I didn’t know the particular one I have needs strong light…
Light is of differing strengths in different parts of the world so where I live I have to give them as much light as I possibly can. Lack of light is one of the main reasons plants don't flower. Light where our plants come from is far stronger a light than we can give them in the Northern hemisphere. Ed.
Thank you, I will diana.....I think I should have had fun as my middle name.......although it does get you into trouble at times!!!........take care, Ed.
Thank you for this video Ed I always learn so much from you. Did I understand correctly when you said lots of bright light, lots of water in summer and NO fertilizer?
I have the Dendrochilum Cobbianum and they look different both in growth and in spikes. I have mine mounted and they had a slow start but are racing now, they get water every other day so they never dry out completely and they don't mind bright light
Thanks Ynse. I'm going to follow the same paths that you have done when I mount one of these.......plenty of water, plenty of humidity and plenty of light. Ed.
That's simply fantastic Ed. So many new growths and the spikes.... Wounderfull!!! Would u be kind enough to part up with one of those Ed? :D What temps do they experience on the greenhouse?
I'm at the same place I have been for the last 20 years. I live in Gods little acre in Lancashire.....the place of the Red Rose and the Pendle Witches. Thanks for wishing me a nice break in a lovely Island.......take care, Ed.
