Since June first, we've had a whipping 2.8" of rain plus a trace non measurable yesterday... Good to see the bulls out and all the grass!! Our normal summers, hay gets done in small windows of 3 to 5 days.. gotten spoiled the last few years with drought, just cut and do it.. keep cutting... Hopefully you can get haying soon!!
@@AlbertaRanch side note, I appreciate how nice and calm your cows are. I just got back from AI’ing a ranchers beef heard in interior bc and those were some rowdy girls. I’ll have to send the rancher your channel and tell him to pet his cows more!
Howdy, How ya doing ?? @@AlbertaRanch I need a ranch name. Ferguson ranch don't stand out to me plus there's already a Ferguson ranch. Let me know which name sounds catchy if you don't mind. Your boys look fabulous! We’re in winter here and it’s been pretty dry. Unlike the northern states of Australia. Fingers crossed we get the 10-15mm predicted for tomorrow! 🇦🇺
Beautiful country. I lived in Calgary for awhile but am back in MB now. Have not seen a mosquito for 5 years here because of the drought but now the rain is back and hopefully global warming effects are not permanent here. I watch some videos of cattle ranchers using AI only and the science behind the bloodlines and feed is quite impressive and complex. Do you know how many ranchers use AI versus traditional bulls in AB? Which is the better choice or is there one?
I have only seen AI used in purebred operations around here. Certainly benefits but also very labour intensive. Not sure it would be possible with July / August breeding on pasture.
@@AlbertaRanch Thanks for the reply. One channel I watch produces purebreds for sale to other ranchers but the guy has a PhD in animal sciences and a niche market for specialty animals. I thought it may be more popular better to get a higher rate of conception and more animals which equals more money.
Man, I grew a bull. I mentioned my future heard bull first calves were 12 steers 4 heifers. Well weighing his heifers in another group and oml. My favorite heifer is 2 and a half months and 384 pounds 😁 to bad she has to pay off her mama still or I would keep her. Long body, thick, calm, fairly balanced. Ughs!!
Some good looking cattle you have there. But this video reminds me of the old joke about the two bulls one young bull one old bull standing on a hill looking down on a field full of heifers, the young bull goes quick lets run down and sha99 a few of those heifers, the old bull just calmly says na lets walk down and sha99 em all. Hope this wont offend anyone.
I loved the way that one cow stopped and looked at you like do we have a problem. Lol. Nice looking cows.
Thanks 👍
You've got some beautiful country up there on top of the world. Magnificent herd.
Thank you.
Your video’s are great to watch! It’s funny how the cows seem to listen to you!
Does that mean they're smart, or am I dumb.
Yeah I figure you do have the option to use hand and arm gestures so you may have them beat!
Those are some super-duper boys! Cows and calves are looking great!
Thanks
thanks for sharing, good year for hay on the other side of the Rockies
Nice, we are soaked here too.
Those are some really good looking bulls
Thanks, hope they work out.

Enjoyed the video. Getting a lot of rain in the Cariboo district of BC also.

Id pitch my tent on the far side at the edge of the woods an just enjoy that's heaven man
It's pretty nice.
This is Aug 2023. I'm wondering if our friend Alberta Ranch is alright with all of the fires this year. I truly hope your ranch isn't affected.
Just some smoke here, we are fortunate.
Beautiful cattle.
Greatings from México.

Does the heifer bull have a smaller unit as to not tear up the virgin cooch?
No, hfr bull is bred to throw smaller calves.
