was started; On June 30, 2021, the station building of Hangzhou West
Railway Station will be capped； In September 2022, Hangzhou West
Railway Station will be open to traffic.
As of September 2022, the total construction area of Hangzhou West
Railway Station is 5122.22 million square meters, and the construction area
of the station building is about 100000Square meters, the scale of the
station is 11 sets and 20 lines. The station building has 9 floors (5 floors
above the ground and 4 floors below the ground), and the waiting hall 58000
square meters.
This is the most beautiful railway station I have ever seen. I didn't even know it until it was built,I immediately took my camera to shoot. The design of Hangzhou West Railway Station is very modern, and the internal construction

I used to live in China and travelled to Hangzhou in 2017. I was astounded by the new projects back then. Now there are over 40,000 kilometers of track and something like 4,153 “Fuxing Hao” high-speed trainsets (standard high-speed electric multiple units) in 2021. As a Data Analyst I have been looking at various data on China's High-speed Railway. I have noticed that the new Xinjiang line that has a cost estimate of $22B USD and is currently operating at about 6 percent of capacity. The debt for China's State Railway is somewhere around $2T USD.
U have to mention the line to Xinjiang is very long (Beijing to wulumuqi total about 3000km). Also total debt is around 6T rmb (less than 1 T usd) as of September 2022. The average construction cost is much cheaper than rest of world but the ticket price is even cheaper roughly 1/4 of Europe. If railway companies wanna make money, they can raise the price of ticket. But the government sees the economic benefit of entire society not on railway companies itself. It is good place to spend this money rather than giving money to military complex as US does. What American tax payer gets after those military industries got another huge bonus?
About the same cost as USA spent in Afghanistan.
You need to think in terms of an investment over a 30-50 year period. The phase 1 California High-Speed Rail ( 837 km) is projected to cost ~USD$100 billion if completed in 2029 (construction started in 2015)
Did you know there are 13 million people in Hangzhou?
Did you know that there are 7 small cities with a population of more than 5 million around Hangzhou?
Did you know that 180 million people live within 300 kilometers of Hangzhou?
As for the high-speed rail to Xinjiang, it has never been about making a profit.
