  • In today's episode, we work on bringing a little more life into our home, courtesy of our steel chisel! We have lanterns sitting on boring fence posts, oil lamps on the ground, and a wall in our sitting room that is looking awfully bare. Let's get chiseling!

    With the lamp posts, I would lean towards a full base for the pole, maybe be one pixel thick. Because snow can't accumulate there, let's give it a reason not to instead of just not been there

    I imagine it could be a coding nightmare, but if you could put things with small hitboxes (Like the fat lantern) inside a chiselblock if it had the clearance. Game Changer.

      @seth424 6 месяцев назад +3

      Would definitely be a great way to add more details to a build. Could also be cool if you could make custom chiseled designs for functional blocks, like chests or querns as well.

    • @Kurazarrh

      I think Tyron should enable the paper lantern for use in survival. IIRC it can be chiseled, and it would be great for players to be able to design creative and interesting light-bearing blocks, even if they're pretty expensive.

      @@Kurazarrh I can just see you spending a video building custom lights by chiseling away a paper lantern and rebuilding it from a bare light-emitting tag on the resulting air block.
      Oh, that brings up a question. I know that air supply while swimming isn't generally an issue in VS, but does water flow into air spaces in chiseled blocks?

    • @Kurazarrh
      @Kurazarrh  6 месяцев назад +1

      @@bearnaff9387 I think I'd want my light-enjoying blocks to generally look like they should emit light! ;)
      Chiseled blocks can be waterlogged, yes, but they have to meet a certain threshold of volume removal before they'll become waterlogged. Unlike that other block game, water can also flow through blocks that can be waterlogged!

    niiiiice one, also nice info about eeez replacing mats. so u can do some copies of a ship and try different colored glass types for bottle. maybe foggy glass will be nice, maybe blue or maybe even green ;)
    btw. u can craft it with red glass to do it by more comfortable (visually) way and replace glass type later.

    Things like this make me wish you could save things like this as a file, send that file to another player and have them be able to one-click recreate it as long as they had the materials and tools on them. Would also let you save and carry over things between worlds.

    • @Kurazarrh
      @Kurazarrh  6 месяцев назад +2

      I think I mentioned this in the past, but I would love a "blueprint" system where you could copy a chiseled block to a sheet of paper and then store those as files on your PC. So sharing with friends would be possible, sure, but also being able to reuse them yourself between worlds! It would need a vanilla means of copying blocks, though.

      @@Kurazarrh Love the ship! I had a thought about your answer to the sign suggestion. Although a crafted plaque would float in the air, I think you could manually chisel in a small "plaque" on the wall block directly below the ship using a bronze metal block and then create the words with a black stone layer or something similar. I think that would be awesome

    • @Kurazarrh

    Nice job with the lamps and the lanterns. I might get some inspiration because I usually place them on a peace of fence lol. I have to say that lately I started to appreciate the clear quartz glass better than plain glass. Perhaps a middle ground between total transparency of one and too much opacity of the other would be ideal. The ship in the bottle is a masterpiece of course 😄

      I've already got a couple other videos recorded that were done in 1.18, so those need to come through the pipeline first. After that, I'll be checking to make sure 1.19 won't break our world or our mods and then updating once everything appears to be working with everything we've got going on in the series. It shouldn't be long, I don't think--most mods that needed updates have been updating throughout the 1.19 preview versions.
