I hope you add a "Guard position" Where you can set where you want a guard to be and the direction they are facing. For example, in PA1 I always liked to have a guard standing right next to the metal detectors outside of the workroom, but he would always be facing the wrong way.
It would be so cool if instead of just hiring armed guards or dog handlers out of nowhere we could promote simple guard up a career leader. Giving them better stats and also the opportunity to be an a special guard type.
Would be video game logic, but neat indeed. Then again it makes no difference where you click, whether that's on a guard to click on the "type" of promotion or just the symbol to hire one.
@@ogkdr Yeah you are right, but i would mix this with an XP/rank system so that as a guard gets better and becomes a higher ranking officer it could depend on this experience level what special roles they could perform. Not just simply hiring them and promoting them immediatly
I was expecting this part to offer improvements on the first game. Deployment and patrols were some of my frustrations in PA for how cumbersome they were, and this seems to have mirrored the feature from the first game exactly the same. I was hoping for more control especially given the 3D map, I can't imagine how bad it will be to have patrols through multiple floors if it will even be possible, because there's no way to cross patrol lines (like in the first game)
i am absolutely hyped for this game. I love PA1 but I always thought the prisoners were a little forgettable. This looks surprisingly new and familiar at the same time. The devs really managed to create a new style, but still kept the original style alive, visuals and mechanics. Let's hope the release will not be another disaster like CS2. I see still too many glitches for my taste (mostly clipping issues, and something seems off with the lightning, it's all way too bright, darker shadows are missing)
I can handle some graphical glitches, like clipping is basically a non-issue for me. Would it be nice to have it never happen? yeah, sure, but as long as its purely visual and not allowing prisoners to phase through walls and escape, I can put up with it. I'm worried about gameplay based glitches. Like people getting stuck or phasing through a wall.
@@sirwinstonchurchill2052 Interesting fact: There is a 3D render mode for PA1, so technically even the 3D part of PA2 isn't new. Seems like Paradox couldn't come up with much new, which is probably a good thing since if it ain't broke, don't fix it, but is also bad because why buy PA2 when PA1 exists and is basically the same game with more content. Like PA2 might be worth buying in a few years when it's heavily discounted, but for the current asking price it doesn't seem worth it.
Will guards at CCTV be able to issue commands to an idle guard? in PA1 CCTV was only line of sight tool and you had to do react manually. Micromanaging is fine, for a time, but it can get tiresome after a while.
In their defence it has multiple stories and a simplified utity system for water. I think they revamped their needs system too, probably some other stuff I'm missing.
I am looking forward to this. I do however have a few concerns that make me weary... 1. Animations look amazing, but during a brawl or a fight, it just looks odd in my book. It made less of a difference in PA1 cause it was 2D and you could fix it by making the person who gets hit "jump" backwards. The animations here look a little too stale for my taste. For example, at 1:54, the guy is taking hits from 4 guards and decides to.. dropkick the dog? It's like being hit has no effect on him other than some blood particles. This really is my biggest issue with it so far. The people should "recoil" when being hit. Stumble backwards or fall over or anything. 2. Why does the outdoor fences have a huge gap near the ground...? If it's supposed to keep people inside, then a gap under the fence really seems impractical. 3. Hitbox/Collisions. For example, at 1:15, prisoners walk straight through a light of some sort. At 1:45, the guard on the right side of the screen also clips the table a bit. This is another issue that is only evident in 3D and wasn't an issue in 2D. I hope there will be some collision/better pathing to remedy this, because it breaks the immersion a fair bit. Other than that, I am a huge fan of the upgraded way to draw Patrol Paths. I'm a tad bit worried I see no scheduler, so I will have to keep guards stationed 24/7 instead of only when needed. I'm sure this will be added though! I'm excited to see where this goes.
I hope the devs clean up the pathing instead of inmates cutting through grass to get through a door, and then walking through the open door sprite/model. It's a small detail, but small details like that make or break immersion.
I don't see anything about Protective Custody prisoners. In PA1 they could be designated as yellow. I'd like to see area controls exclusively for them. I assume Death Row and Criminally Insane prisoners will be added later. DLC?
Can patrols be set to traverse different elevations? for example in this video you had cell blocks that were accessible with stairs, can you have a patrol that go up and down those stairs?
This will be probably my entry to the serie. Ended up never playing the first one even though I was interested for a while. Now I just need to see if my potato will run this.

Enjoyed the first one, particularly early version when it was still a product of a small dev. AS it's being produced by Paradox Interactive, I'll wait for some reviews and patches first though. Paradox has developed quite a poor and well earned reputation for releasing incomplete and buggy games. They'll happily take your money and give you trash such as Cities Skyline 2 or Lamplighters League. But they sure won't provide a refund when you figure out a bit too late you've bought an alpha release of a lemon. With Steam you have 2 hours of play before you can no longer request a refund. Games like this ( and CS2) typically take longer than that to even begin exploring the game properly. Paradox is a prime example of why people are going to end up needing consumer protection relating to software purchases. Pretty bad. Cautiously optimistic as I loved ( at one point) the initial IP. But I'd certainly wait for reviews from real people online and go from there.
I'm just wondering if there's inmates under protective custody like ex police- they yellow shirts in the first game and if we could search the prison section by section, not all at once
