After watching Ricciardo, Bottas getting tumbled down after getting out of their strong team, the fact that Hulkenberg never driven in the top team makes his consistency look superb. He seems not getting affected by his age. I think that's the key that helps him hold his consistency in the midfield.
It's more about the fact that Hulkenberg got consistently decent midfield car, and consistently weak teammates that made him look consistent. I'd agree that Ricciardo is seemingly tumbling down, but there's no proof that Bottas is experiencing the same thing. You just had a car/weak teammate bias.
For me Hulkenberg has always been one of the great underrated of the category, who has always had very bad luck either by strategic errors or because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, I hope that Audi will find the key and can present a moderately competitive car that does him justice after so many years of waiting
Absolutely underrated. He spent most of his f1 career in cars that had no business getting a podium. Yet, if luck had been on his side he could have got three. Or more. We'll never know where his career could have reached had he got that first podium. I mean, take a look at Perez. His first win at what could have been his final race in the sport, rescued by Red Bull. All he needed was that one bit of luck... Though, I would argue the one who should have been booted out of Racing Point was Daddy's Cash. But, we both know that would never happen. And btw, thanks for reminding me that the Hulk partnered up with Mr P11 himself lol. I know we dunk on Latifi, but at least Latifi did what Jolly Palmer couldn't.
@@turrican4d599 Yep. Lost out to Bottas, then to Perez. And to Ocon. And we all know he can get cars to positions they have no business being in. Maybe he can pull off a miracle with the Audi in 25.
Despite his lack of results, he is still one of the most valuable asset in the midfield, and his long term contract with Audi proves just that. I really hope the Audi projects works out for Hulkenberg as it’s probably his last ever contract before he retires.
i watch you and no one else after being bored and disgusted by everyone else out there, you are different and new and creative so keep it up exactly as you are doing right now
Nico is probably one of the biggest what ifs of recent memory, he was linked with a top drive several times but never got it, being the back up choice if Lewis or Kimi didnt join Merc and Ferrari respectavely He was linked with the Merc drive in 2017 as well I believe but Bottas got it instead and he was also in the running for the 2021 Redbull seat but ironically Checo has got it, I real want Audi to be good enough for him to get a 1 podium or 2 the man deserves it
Nico Hulkenburg is a solid racer. The thing is he doesn't have a podium however for how long he's raced and how good he's been you'd think he's had about 2 or 3. He started in 2010 and in 24, I believe he's the best driver outside the top 4 teams and above Perez. Oh, and he won Le Mans.
I've always liked Hülkenberg. I've tended to think of him as one of the 'midfield monsters' of the mid-late 2010s, that is, drivers who for whatever reason hadn't ever found themselves in a top car, but were generally really solid operators in the madness that can be F1's midfield. It was a list that also (at the time) also included the likes of Sergio Pérez and Carlos Sainz. In fact, I rated the Hülkenberg/Pérez at Force India combination as one of the strongest lineups on the grid during the early hybrid era. He might not have any podiums in F1, but he's still been a major presence on the grid. And I listed Pérez and Sainz for a reason: if you asked me for my opinion on who were the three best midfield drivers on the grid at the time (so around 2014-'20) who hadn't yet or ever found themselves in a top car (so the likes of Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button in the McLaren-Hondas don't count, and nor do Daniel Ricciardo at Renault or Felipe Massa at Williams for example) Hülkenberg, Pérez and Sainz were my answers without fail. Hopefully his return to Sauber can pay off when Audi come in, but I'll be honest, I'm not expecting much. Though what I am expecting is for Hülkenberg to still put in consistently solid performances. Definitely one of the most underrated drivers of the last 10-15 years, his F1 stats don't tell the full story. He does of course have an overall win at the 24 Heures du Mans, so he has one accolade of the Triple Crown on his CV. I have a soft spot for A1GP and wholeheartedly agree that it should be bought back in some way. Though I will say that we do have the FIA Motorsport Games, so the idea of a world cup of motorsport is kind of already back. In terms of other wacky racing competitions, we also had Superleague Formula, which combined racing and football clubs, and that was just odd! Several high-profile clubs competed in it, although the club I support, Chelsea, sadly wasn't one of them (but it did sponsor an F1 team for a few years (albeit that team was Sauber) while Superleague Formula folded a few years after it was formed, so who got the better end of the deal?)!
Around 3:00, you probably want to check what "electrocuted" means. I don't think the FIA could cover up a dead driver! To be fair, a lot of people don't understand the meaning of the word.
And to think, Ross Brawn revealed that had Lewis not taken the seat at Mercedes, Hülkenberg was next in line, oh what could have been Nico vs Nico fighting for the championship would certainly have been interesting to watch, wonder who would have come out on top
@@nedzosf1gridbox i believe it would have been very close anyways, especially as they were both considered very strong qualifyers (or I guess Hülkenberg still is considered a pretty strong qualifyer) as Nico beat Lewis in the quali battle in 2014 with some margin, and Hülkenbergs quali resaults have pretty much allways been his strong point So it would probably come down to who has the most consistant race pace and, it's hard to say but I do wanna lean towards Hülkenberg too as he would occasionally have those very strong race performances where as Nico i feel even when he won would seldom have those dominant showings, but then again the only person that he would have been able to "dominate" considering the massive difference in the Mercedes car performance compared to everyone else would have been Lewis Hamilton, and yeah I mean, tough job that
