I’ve personally found the phrase “this action does not suit you”, and other similar phrases which hold the same meaning, to be quite powerful in affecting the heart in a positive way. You are essentially being told that somewhere deep down you are a good person, someone with honour and dignity, which is why you shouldn’t be doing whatever bad action you are doing. You are better than that, your parents didn’t raise you to do wrong and immoral deeds. It’s very different from being scolded and spoken down to. It’s very wholesome, on top of the already very wholesome phrase “O my son”.
Honestly i dont know this sheikh, but if he ever gave me advice and started with "ya ibni" id probably shed a tear and listen... he seems like a great teacher may Allah preserve him
