This is easily one of the most underrated movies of the past 30 years. Which if you ask me, is a real shame; because it was a major influence on the 2009 Sci-Fi film Avatar.
influence is an understatement. its almost as if the producers completely ripped this movie off in its entirety for ideas and repackaged it to us as if we wouldnt know the difference.
similar to what disney did with the lion king
Joe Humpston and even if this was put the best film, it was innovative and unique. These days Hollywood can’t create original anything it’s all remakes
Jesse Fulton well not everything
Mind blown fuck talk about a Reboot, ohhhhhhhhhh
@@Acolis avatar was pretty awesome. If you have such a hard on for Krista a ferngully you should be proud so much effort was put in to making a more modern, well made version of it
This film used to trip me out as a kid, it was terrifying! The Hex used to send shivers down my spine. Still does in the form of the deforestation! Forgot the bat was Robin Williams! Great film with a brilliant message for kids.
Jen Dark Energy 384400 you just described everything I feel when I think about this movie
really, it was terrifying? I've never seen this movie but I wanted to watch it with my son, but I dont want him to be scared. What age would you say is suitable for a kid to watch this movie without being too scared?
lh213 it just depends. I remember being kind of freaked out as a kid
@@liyaah85 kids should be terrified of what we, adults, are doing to their future without the bat of an eye.
I was terrified of the black demon monster thing
I totally forgot this movie existed and then it just randomly popped into my mind😭
Same with me
ayoooo wtfffff happened to me too 😭
Legit same! Middle of my work day this popped into my mind
Me too.
sameee😭😭😭
Such a huge part of my childhood. The music is so nostalgic, every time I hear it, it brings me back to happy years.
The first movie I ever saw as a child in a theater. Loved it so much. Still do. Great memories.
Same here. What year were you born. I was born in 86
It was one of my first movies on VHS as a baby
How is this just _not_ included in tributes to Robin Williams movies? He was like one of the major ways it held your attention as a kid.
The movie introduced me to him
He was the main draw for adults, too; the story was pretty hamfisted and obvious, but at least Batty was fun.
Beautiful film. I haven't seen it in years. Ferngully: The Last Rainforest is pre Avatar.
Las time I saw it It was still the 90s a friend just shared this trailer and I feel I've remember a whole different part of my life again.
Finally! Someone mentioned it. I was going crazy that only I saw the resemblance
Yes!!!!! I was watching avatar just know and this movie just popped up.
@Lydia Fraz I don't know if James Cameron ever watched Ferngully.
I rediscovered it recently
I remember the black goo terrifying me as a child and still to this day never forgetting it.
This makes me miss my childhood so much, I love this movie!
Same!
One of the better enviornmentally aware animated movies of the 90's. Its not perfect, but I can see kids and some adults getting into this. The sequel however.........not so much.
Yep! And easily one the most underrated movies in Animation history. If you ask me, that’s a damn shame, because it was a pretty big influence on the movie “Avatar”
The sequel was so bad... Agree with you though that the first movie was wonderful. I hope i can show it to my kids one day
@@Bojanglesthewitch If its on Disney Plus, awesome. If not, get them a DVD or Blu Ray copy of it.
@@supermariof0521 I’ll get the family fun edition dvd.
I used to think the sequel was good but with none of the OG voice actors back, it doesn’t give much rewatch value like this one
literally nobody knows this film and it’s just so old and so many memories
As a millennial, I’m bitterly surprised
I feel there's a very slim generation that all knows this movie. ~'88-'92 kids.
This is a beautiful movie. Will never get old
I found it at a garage sale last summer on DVD and just watched it the other day. Its awesome! I even drew a very good picture of Crysta!
I would like to see that drawing someday.
Shang Tsung Same here!!
Lol, this trailer basically spoils the entire movie! XD
A common practice in the 90s.
I remember seeing this when it came out. I was 8 years old. Laughed and cried
& how ol' r u now?🤔
@@theemperor2017 37 they will be
Lol i remember watching this with my sisters as a child. Totally forgot about this film until the other day😂
I always watch the other trailer to where they say "Plant the seeds, to save a place called Ferngully the last rainforest" the music theme on that part makes me remember how when this first came put me and my 3 friends 5 other friends would all get together for a sleepover and we would watch it alot and pretend we lived in a place like that, my one friend would plant spruce trees with me we called then Fern & Gully those tree are still in my yard and it's sad we were 6 when we did it and my friend Ashley well she past away 9 years later, it changed me and made me conceal myself on my home after she past, two of my other friends past also to addictions, am glad my two others one including myself have familys we named our kids after our friends who past and our last friend is somewhere out there moved and lost contact, I am 35 now and I still cry for all of them especially when this movie comes on. Great memory with this film.
Ralph and Tony: (screaming in terror)
Batty: There goes the neighborhood.
Happy 30th Anniversary of Ferngully: The Last RainForest 🎊🎉🥳🎂🎙🎼🎵🎶🎤🧚🧚♀️🧚♂️🌴🍃🦇🎊🎉🥳🎂🎊🎉🥳🥳
Rest In Peace Robin Williams
I remember this 1992 American-Australian animated fantasy film all right. I used to watch it on VHS 📼 when I was a kid.
It's probably one of the most underrated animated films of all time.
when I moved, cleared out a bunch of tapes, but definitely kept this one.
Jesus! This brings back all my childhood memories
Watched the heck out of this movie as a kid. Classic!
So did I
Funny how relevant this movie is right now with The Amazon burning...
Funny how Time magazine said the amazon was burning since the 80s
@@timothyjudge3945 *was being burned since the 80's
Get your facts straight.
Right now with Australia up in flames
And now with Australia burning
The movie takes place in Australia, but still.
Love this movie classic, takes me back to my childhood
Opening To Spider-Man 2002 DVD
No matter how many years pass, I'll always love this masterpiece!!! (Not to spoil the great nostalgia trip, but the sequel was just awful!!!!)
Going to watch with my children tomorrow as I did as I child, just loved it. I remember it said "For your children and your children's children"😊
You mean our children
I forgot this movie existed and then my brain was like "Oh hey remember this?"
i completely forgot this movie existed. Was on someones IMDb and saw the cover and name and it took me back real quick! used to love this movie. im almost 38 now :(
Loved this film as a child gonna try and find it to give it another view the Hex terrified me as a child 😬 forgot Robin Williams was in it 🥰🥰🥰
I watched this when I was 5 haven’t seen it since then (I’m 18 now). I forgot the title of the movie but now I’m excited to watch it 😭😅
Bobby Adams samee!! Hahah
notice how robin Williams name isn’t mentioned all? yea well a little fun fact for all of y’all who even remember this movie robin Williams name wasn’t mention because everyone signed a contract with disney that his name would not be used for marketing at a l l and robin did the same thing when he was working on Aladdin but disney during Aladdin decided to scrap that promise during so they used both robin Williams and the genie (robin’s character) all in the marketing and in turn robin decides to stomp all over their parade by hating on them here and there.....welp that’s the short of it anyway food for thought donthcha think?
Saw this at a local theater that was doing a premier event thing to get kids excited about the movie. I was in new Orleans so they must have done this promo everywhere. You got to the theater, they gave every kid a popcorn and a small drink, a program and a bag of seeds... Some of the bags of seed had different colored stickers on them. Before the movie started they said any kid with such and such colored sticker on their bag of needs to come up and get a prize. I got a fern gully t-shirt and thermos. I'm 35 now and still remember that fun day
But do you still have the thermos??
I wish I had something like that of an opportunity as a kid
The reptile has the same voice of Peewee from Bebe's kids also released in 1992
Love this movie I watch this when I was little every time I'm so happy it's a part two
This movie was my shit as a kid, I was born mid 1993
I’m a 93 baby too
This movie came out the year I was born 1992 this is one of my favorite movies back in the 90s Hexxus gave me nightmares when I was a little kid
I was TODAY years old when I realized that James Cameron's Avatar is merely a live action (ish) version of Fern Gully.
Robin Williams is such a Legend btw.
I watched this so many times as a kid.. I could probably still recite half of it verbatim.
A meme brought me here. I remember watching this movie, but I don't remember most of it. Time to re-watch it
If i can only turn back the hands of time. Things weren't always great but the 80s was a fantastic time to be a kid.
Don’t you mean the 90’s
I'm obsessed with this energy, I'm okay with moving forward but nothing has yet! To come close!! thus far. I couldn't imagine how it would be if we had modern technology then
I remember watching this when I was young . Good movie .
Farleygully the last rainforest is a magical movie from 20th century Columbia.
The smoke monster scared the hell out of me
he's called Hexxus.
What is this place?
This is FernGully!
The only phrases that stucks in my mind for almost 27 years!💖
Brings back good memories.
i was trying so hard to remember the name of this movie so i wrote in google 'cheap cartoon movie about fairies and evil black water'' my gosh haha, it worked thooooooooo
I couldn’t remember either and googled “animated movie 90s destroying trees” and it worked lol
EVIL BLACK WATER 😭😭😭
ahhh mine was: ‘movie about mythical creatures whose forest gets cut down’ ahah
mine was "cartoon with bats and fairies and they are taking.down trees" and it was the first thing to pop up lmao
I‘m getting teary 🥲 just watching the trailer...
So many memories...
This was one of my favorite movies growing up.
But I didn’t like the ending.
I always wanted Zach to stay with Christa...
They were so cute 🥰
☺️
Apparently James Cameron agrees with your sentiment. Thus the way Avatar ended with the protagonist staying in the forest with his new "people".
This was one of my first movies as a baby! Here I am in 2023 after recently rediscovering it
Watched this as a kid and I finally found it. I'm so happy..
I actually didn't hear of that movie in the 90s but more like 15 years after it came out, because one of my best friend's cats were named Zak and Crysta
this movie was my childhood
This is still relevant. WHY IS THIS STILL RELEVANT. THIS IS NOT OKAY
/I barely remember this movie but all I remember is that I loved it!
Ferngully the last rainforest is came out April 10th,1992!
Core memory unlocked
Same here for me
This literally feels like a fever dream.
They need to make more movies like this
The closest thing they did was Epic back in 2013
Crysta is hot tbh
Zack is hotter, his biceps damn
Okay let's be honest... Crysta is beautiful and her legs are thicc. Zak is a handsome guy who's badass. Pips is also a badass. And Batty... he's just a dumbass. That's all.
Ok...as a kid I always liked her. Didn't really know why. Now I realize...if she was real she'd be cute 😍
James Cameron definitely ripped this off for Avatar.
This movie is so amazing
Who says Disney has all the animated classics...
This is right up there with the lion king
I was a bigger fan of Ferngully than I was of the Lion King
Underrated movie.
i remember this when i was a kid, damn the memories
Love this movie !
I FORGOT THIS EXISTED OMGG
They should have a cult following like other 90s movies like space jam a goofy movie and the nightmare before Christmas
I do believe somehow it has
This movie scared the hell out of me as a child.
I finally found this movie. I remembered I watched it as a kid and the dvd of it and Thumbelina were both similar so I confused this as Thumbelina until I watched the dvd years later and realized the the movie was different so I went on a search to find this movie as all I could remember from it is the scene where a fairy with black hair finds a human with blond hair. I just wanted to see if the movie in my mind existed and it does
I thought Thumbelina was the better movie.
This movie was such a fever dream
I miss u so much Robin 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I saw this movie when I was a child and I loved it!
So happy they’re remaking this 2024
And you could be right after all
My GOD that is Christian Slater.
Underrated, i just watched it today on download
I love FernGully, it's a very cute movie! 👍
0:53
Zak: (puts his hand out) I'm Zak.
Do, or do not....me just Quarantine my self and enjoy Ferngully
90s kids really had the best childhood
I remember really wanting to watch this as a kid but never actually getting to
Congratulations, Tommy!
Opening To FeranGully: The Last Rainforest 2022 DVD
i missed this dearly
loved this movie as a kid
Ayy yo my name is batty my logic is erratic!
Lol I was showing my 4 year old daughter this, cause she's such a film connoisseur and needs to watch a trailer first lol, and as soon as the bat started yelling she recognized the voice instantly. I thought she was going to say the genie, but she said "it sounds like the dad from Mrs dontfire." I said it's doubtfire but yes lol.
This movie introduced me to Robin Williams
one second youre thinking about brocolli chicken alfredo, and the next youre watching a trailer for a 20 year old movie youve never heard of
wow BACK THEN the narrative was DIRECTED TO CHILDREN, 80s and especially 90s kids were spoiled on a CORPORATE level.
A forgotten classic.
Raffi at the end just to kick u in the emotions while ur down and spit on u with nostalgia lol
Now zack is rockin with the reptiles
Yes
I never knew of this movie😮. I came here from Sporcle..... I'll watch it tomorrow
Avatar?
OMG
Oh yes. It's very similar to Epic.
No, Ferngully the Last Rainforest.
When trailers use to tell us the whole movie story lol
Still better than frozen and emoji movie and the trolls and the smurfs boss baby, norm of the north and like 5 other movies I can't think of...
some people think it's still better than the Aladdin remake.
I remember this movie.
Was definitely a trippy movie
Great video - trailer.
My mom always claimed this film scared me and was what caused me nigthmares, and I denied it. So was this super sad or scary or something? All I can remember, it was someone ruining the forest because they were building something. Houses, mall, dunno
Luckily I wasn’t traumatized
Feel like this was my first contact with the divine feminine, ofc I find myself around lots of Krysta-types today XD
