Worst traffic in the world, LRT MRT also one of the worst for cramped and long queues. Many plastic particles detected in the air of Manila. One of the highest electricity and gasoline cost in ASEAN/Asia. The price of goods are exorbitantly high in most high end malls and only normal/affordable in some low end ones/dirty street markets. Too many slums just a few hundred meters from these 'fancy' areas. Malls are boring in terms of design and lack uniqueness. Buildings are generally dull and ugly except some cathedrals. Hung out in Glorietta, Starbucks 6750, and Greenbelt, Legazpi and Salcedo, Rockwell, Jupiter, Makati Ave.. we were surrounded by malls and parks. I'm reminiscing lol.. Pandan are leaves used in different cooking usage which are added to food preparation or added to desserts to enhance flavor which is what you have. They are also added to Ice Cream to make it flavorful. Pandan is a plant base found in almost all of Southeast Asia. Some grow wild & some are cultivated almost similar to Lemon Grass. Thai people use this too for cooking.

Hi Nadir, in case you still don’t know, pandan is a fragrant plant used for flavoring sweet and savory dishes in Southeast Asia. It lends a sweet, aromatic, green and slightly floral flavor and scent to dishes although the plant itself is not edible because it’s too fibrous.

we stayed in BGC Uptown side for 3 weeks and we just got back 4 days ago and man we are missing Philippines so much especially food prices, everything seems so expensive now that we're back 🤣
Fun fact : Pandan is the Philippine equivalent of Vanilla. This is a fact so little Filipinos know but should definitely know especially when they are the ones serving it.
The People are very Friendly and interacting . can speak English.. From Concrete jungle to Forest to sea and bay , waterfalls and mountain expect beyond Adventure.. power on
24:20 Fresh lumpia or lumpiang sariwa is a very different dish from the fried lumpia or lumpia Shanghai that is probably more popular. Fresh lumpia is usually made from the heart or pith of the coconut stem, it is not made from the nut or fruit. It is a healthy alternative to the fried version. The word lumpia can refer to any food wrapped in a thin wrapper which can be made of rice flour or more eggy and crepe-like. Fresh lumpia is made with an egg wrapper, but it doesn't taste like a French crepe, I think it has a more Chinese-type flavor, not buttery at all. Filipinos will usually eat it slathered in a rich garlic cornstarch sauce, which is a bit sweet for my taste but great in small amounts, and topped with ground peanuts. Nadir may have been offered the sauce and peanuts in a small plastic packets, but I think he was eating it plain, which is good too.
Buko is young coconut. Niyog is the old coconut. Pandan is a kind of leaves here in the Philippines use for cooking and flavoring. Lumpia has many varieties and flavors as well.
5:18 Pandan is a plant and the leaves is usually used in desserts, idk when it started but it’s called “vanilla of Asia” but I’m surprised you didn’t know, so maybe just SEA. It’s usually used in desserts but I really like this dish, pandan chicken where the chicken is wrapped in pandan leaves and then fried.
Former Spanish colony for 333 years and American for 50 years. Philippines dubbed as Latin Asian, Paris of Asia and Queen of Pacific back then during the era. Singapore and Taiwan was poor during those time.
They were not able to say why is it green and called buko pandan 😂 It’s apparently a mixture of coconut, milk and pandan. The green one is the pandan flavor actually. It comes from the pandan leaf extract.
Makati is also popular as a financial district because big banks and multinationals chose it as their corporate address, there are also expensive schools and busineses there which is why you regard it as fancy. But what is good about Makati is that city development strives for some balance because right in the heart of Makati there are " green" places where you see trees and grass planted in between tall buildings. So it is not an all concrete jungle. But to my mind, I believe Quezon City is a more eco-friendly city although traffic can also be bad there but there are green places like parks and universities planted with a lot of trees, coducive for rest or some exercise.
@Nadir On The Go one vlogger said it is better than the 40 cities in the world he's been to. Another said it is the most modern (little city) in the world, save Dubai. For me compared to New York, it is cleaner.
Do you mean modern? Because a lot of European (western) cities like Paris, Oslo, Budapest have an old world charm while a lot of Asian (eastern) cities like Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore are modern.
4:55 Buko Pandan is a combination of flavors of young coconut and the leaf of an aromatic palm, pandan, made into a gelatine (gulaman, from agar-agar seaweed). The green may come just from the palm leaf, which lends some color, although they may have added some food coloring for effect. The flavor of pandan is sort of impossible to describe, you have to experience it. It is a mild flavor, not aggressive, but very distinctive. It can play a role similar to vanilla, but the flavor is quite different. And delicious, especially in combination with buko (young coconut, specifically the stage where the water is sweet and the flesh is tender; there are different words for older coconut).
I hope you visit the southern part of the country. Here in Davao City is totally different. Culturally diverse city. Davao and Mindanao itself has a lot to offer.Welcome to our country! enjoy your stay here and be safe 😊😊😊
Pandan is a green leaves with a gpod aroman usually mixed it when cooking or with drinks..and it in that case they mixed it to the buko juice with milk and sugar.
7:52 the green stuff is called gulaman or gelatin flavored with pandan leaves that’s why it’s green and have the amazing smell/flavor of pandan. In the province, we usually add pandan leaves in cooking rice so that the rice would smell delicious. The fragrant smell and tastes like a grassy vanilla flavor. It is commonly used in south east asian countries and Philippines has a large number of different varieties of pandan but we commonly use the long blade variety. In Vietnam and here in Taiwan we also usually make tea out of it and add milk. It’s yummy.

Salcedo Market is one of my fave places to go on Saturdays
Fun fact : Pandan is the Philippine equivalent of Vanilla.
This is a fact so little Filipinos know but should definitely know especially when they are the ones serving it.
It’s known in English as Vanilla Grass.
Pandan is is like Southeast Asian Vanilla. It's a green leaf that looks like lemongrass that we usually put in desserts.
Nadir super nice nia mg salita pra sya pilipino mukha din sya mabait...
The People are very Friendly and interacting . can speak English.. From Concrete jungle to Forest to sea and bay , waterfalls and mountain expect beyond Adventure.. power on
hindi nakakasawa para sa aming mga filipinos we love very much our country
Pandan is a leaf being use for drinks and dessert. That's why it's green, buko pandan is a mix of milk, pandan leaves powder and coconut.
Great choice! Buko Pandan flavor is one of the most delicious and refreshing drinks you can buy from the streets.
Hi Nadir,Im following your vlog everyday about Philippines.Hope you enjoy your stay there and be safe❤️
Buko is young coconut. Niyog is the old coconut. Pandan is a kind of leaves here in the Philippines use for cooking and flavoring. Lumpia has many varieties and flavors as well.
Hope you enjoying your stay here in Manila/Philippines. Mabuhay!
Hope you're enjoying your stay here in the Philippines so far, Nadir! 😃
The green comes from pandan leaves. They use it for flavoring sort of like vanilla.
Just found your channel. Am glad I did! I love your video. Hope to watch more! Welcome to the Philippines. Stay safe. God bless. ❤
Thank you for the nice word about our Makati,BGC, Philippines 🇵🇭.Thank you
5:18 Pandan is a plant and the leaves is usually used in desserts, idk when it started but it’s called “vanilla of Asia” but I’m surprised you didn’t know, so maybe just SEA. It’s usually used in desserts but I really like this dish, pandan chicken where the chicken is wrapped in pandan leaves and then fried.
Nadir, Pandan is a leaf/grass and it gives the color and the unique flavour to the jelly.
Former Spanish colony for 333 years and American for 50 years. Philippines dubbed as Latin Asian, Paris of Asia and Queen of Pacific back then during the era. Singapore and Taiwan was poor during those time.
They were not able to say why is it green and called buko pandan 😂
It’s apparently a mixture of coconut, milk and pandan. The green one is the pandan flavor actually. It comes from the pandan leaf extract.
best travel vlogger from Bangladesh,,,,very knowledgeable and humble person indeed,,
New subscriber here, from Davao City, Philippines. . .welcome to the Philippines and enjoy. Keep safe & God bless
We can see all that in the west .
Yes makati ,alabang ,taguig and quezon city are the places where riches people resides.
Wow Manila looks almost exactly like a western city.
BGC is fancier than 80% of western cities I have been to
@Nadir On The Go one vlogger said it is better than the 40 cities in the world he's been to. Another said it is the most modern (little city) in the world, save Dubai. For me compared to New York, it is cleaner.
It is.
An Australian tourist compared it to Melbourne and said BGC is better
Do you mean modern? Because a lot of European (western) cities like Paris, Oslo, Budapest have an old world charm while a lot of Asian (eastern) cities like Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore are modern.
Watching from Jaoan,Thank’s for visiting our country Philippines,Hope you feel enjoy in our country,God bless you!
Cool 😍 been there... and a very beautiful place i must say 👍

Pandan is a long leaf that locals use for making rice more fragrant and as well for flavoring drinks such as buko pandan

Hello bandu welcome to our country, wow I was amaze with your accent and your looking good
Enjoy and explore Metro Manila sir👍🤩🎉🎊
7:52 the green stuff is called gulaman or gelatin flavored with pandan leaves that’s why it’s green and have the amazing smell/flavor of pandan. In the province, we usually add pandan leaves in cooking rice so that the rice would smell delicious. The fragrant smell and tastes like a grassy vanilla flavor. It is commonly used in south east asian countries and Philippines has a large number of different varieties of pandan but we commonly use the long blade variety. In Vietnam and here in Taiwan we also usually make tea out of it and add milk. It’s yummy.

Southeast asia is experiencing a heatwave, it's the worst in Thailand going up to 40 degrees celsius. Even locals can't take the heat so good luck to foreigners! Bring a fan and a cold drink in an insulated tumbler always 👍 Good luck.
It's like this every year. May is also the worst month because it combines the heat of summer plus the humidity of rain season.
Its green because of the pandan leaves flavor/extract which gives the coconut a very distinct flavor and aroma.
Different places in the Philippines have their own version or different tastes of the food or dish👌👍😃🥘🍝🍜🍲🌯🌮🧆🥙🍟🍔🥪🍨🍧
