  • In this video, I explain the improvement of places where hot friction dust collects using human mind and power over time
    Survival skills when you have nothing.
    Rubbing a wooden branch twisted by hand against another piece of wood will produce fire

    Another version of the fire board by lashing to sticks together with a slight gap between. A fire drill hole is formed in middle (half a hole per stick). The charcoal dust collects in the thin gap with tinder nest underneath. The birds singing in background sound like a species in Australia.

      Very experienced what you say. This is very suitable if there are no supporting tools such as knives and stones.
      Our birds and animals are almost the same as the birds of paradise (manuk Dewata), perhaps they have adapted to new environments from thousands of years until now.
      We cannot recognize them by their new form

    Love learning from you!
    I see that your hearthboard is a little punky, but what about your spindle? What's the material, and how was it prepared?

    • @DalemGumino
      @DalemGumino  20 дней назад +1

      Spindles are thin and long.
      You will get more spindle rotation and stronger pressure at the rotation point.
      Softwood with thin fireboard, hot friction dust will collect in the notches more quickly.

      @jonhelzer5317 20 дней назад +1

      @DalemGumino My latest try was softwood hearth, but not punkwood. Spindle is Huckleberry from Oregon coast. Maybe a little hard.
      Smoke, yes..but hard to get ember.
      I think technique is okay, but materials too hard.
      What say you, master? 😁

      @@jonhelzer5317 If I encounter something like that, I will take the youngest branch of wood because it is softer than the tree trunk above the ground.
      If it's not long enough, I connect it with bamboo or other wood with a small diameter.
      Notches that are wide or to the point of rotation will cause the friction dust to burn incompletely and be wasted quickly
