I was a salesman in a tmobile store and we had to push these out like crazy. In general, if you were already using tmobile service and bundled with a newer plan, it was a pretty good deal at 30-40... if it worked. We had a map where we put in your address and could not sell it to you if your address wouldn't have good speeds. Seems like a good system until you realize that for every one person in a good location, 20 werent. and despite this, we were still expected to sign someone up to the 30 day trail every 3 interactions, and your numbers would tank if you didnt. So my manager found an address that worked and so many people were sent home with internet that we knew wouldnt work, and was irritating and tedious to cancel. Really left a bad taste in my mouth.

@@SaneOGMUDBONE if the network in an area does not have the capacity for TMHI, the address will say not supported. A single TMHI user can cause huge issue to the entire network in an unsupported area. Tmobile will soon geofence TMHI users. Those who singed up using a different area will lose the connection. And I fully support it.

I got Tmobile Home Internet December 2022, it was advertised and sold as 1 Gig service, here in South West corner of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
The first three months I averaged 800 Mbps download speeds. Then Tmobile started Throttling my speed down to 500-600 Mbps.
And now after 14 months they have my speed Throttled all the way down to 200-300 Mbps.

    • @MrSimplicity28
      @MrSimplicity28 4 месяца назад +5

That's not them throttling you. That's more people in the area utilizing their network and them not being able to keep up.

I have T-Mobile home Internet and I am happy for the most part. One time I was having connection and speed problems also and was told by a customer service representative that he suggested I get my SIM card replaced. It did seem to help quite a bit for me. You might want to look into that Drew.

I've had TMobile home internet from release day. I already had my home set up on a eero mesh wifi6 system with three routers. When the tmo router arrived, I set it up, plugged in my eero main router to the TMO router via ethernet cable, and everything has worked perfectly ever since. Last month, I just updated to the newer eero wifi6E system, leaving the older routers on the network and adding the additional 3 wifi6E routers. I have a tri level home and get full coverage inside the home and outside on my property. What's even better is that our cell tower appears to have generator backup. Whenever the power goes out, our cell tower is still active. I have a home generator, and when the power goes out at our nieghborhood its like everything is normal at our home :-)

I’m grateful we’ve been able to get fiber optic in our area. After at little over 4 years of Viasat and before that several years of other ISPs. We are paying for $49.95 a month for 200 Mbps upload and download. 4 MS latency. Our actual upload is around 195 Mbps and upload is around 205 Mbps. And we’re paying for the slowest speeds. Our ISP has 500 Mbps and 1 Gbps options as well for more money. No complains and it’s been 2 months. No data caps either.

We switched from Comcast to t-mobile and I would say it’s fine. Nothing to be crazy about but if you’re just doing streaming and smart home stuff it’s no problem. It’s nice to be able to take it ware ever and have internet. However I have a Mac mini M2 chip and watching RUclips on it is questionable. The videos play fine but opening windows and moving to a different video it is very laggy almost freezing. I have no idea if it’s my computer or internet or RUclips. I am using google chrome. You may have a unique perspective as you are in a simpler boat but also work with RUclips. Thanks for the videos! Would love to know your thoughts. Edit: I updated my computer and it seems to of fixed it, looks like it was the computer not the internet.

7:41 the way Comcast works is if there is no competition the prices are high. If there is competition the prices are lower. And then the HOUSES that have AT&T Fiber the prices are lowest to compete with them (but they literally will only do that if the house has AT&T Finer availability).

I just signed up the week before last, and I am still waiting for my router. But of course they already started charging me. They partially charged me for last period and all for this period. But still haven't received any service. The I am also supposed to get a 15 day trial period. So I called them about all this and they adjusted my bill. But in concerns to the trial period, they said if you keep it after 15 days, then they charge you the whole month and you pay the whole month. If you return before the 15th day, then they return your money. So, the 15 day trial is only for people that cancel the service.

Currently on Gen 3 Starlink here, and seeing as though I cannot get cable, fiber, or T mobile or even Verizon AT ALL, I'm pretty happy with what Starling has. Not sure how older generations perform but gen3 is very stable and I rarely have outages more than 0.5 secs,, download never drops below 75 at the lowest, upload never drops below 13 at the lowest but I get way higher generally.

I’m enjoying my T-Mobile 5G Home Internet so far this month. Had spectrum before because ATT and Verizon weren’t offered at my address and even though I never had connection issues they wouldn’t come down on the $100 price for internet only until after I left. Too late then. I work from home so usually on a VPN. I’m a cord cutter so I only stream videos, digital antenna on the TV, and no longer game anymore.
Only issue I had was the VPN connection being finicky with disconnects but I read another reviewer that talked about T-Mobile 5G internet MTU size was 1420. They recommended using an external router and setting it manually there. I’m no expert just following the recommended steps. So I threw on my TP-Link Archer and manually set the MTU to 1420 and moved all my devices to the external TP-Link router. VPN connection has been solid and beautiful ever since. Don’t know why it works but it works and I’m happy.

We had Cox for a few years and they were incredibly expensive for the quality of internet we had. Our house had a T-Mobile connection, so when we switched to T-Mobile as our phone carriers we got $30 a month internet. It’s worked extremely well at our house. However, when I moved to an apartment, I tried to have T-mobile there and it sucked.

I live in a rural area in SW Washington. I currently have Century Link DSL 10mbs internet, but regular speed checks show 1.2mbs download about the best I can get. 0.8 to 0.9 upload on a good day.
T-Mobile website says I have good coverage for 4g LTE internet modem. Would this better than my current setup?
I believe it will be, but the devil I know, versus the devil I don't know is my biggest concern. Both prices would be equal.

I got it about two years ago myself. Living in a remote location means crap landline speeds and only one provider. It pretty much made being online possible, and even though speed ain't perfect, the 38 megabytes a second download isn't awful. The one provider who does kick internet out here capped speed at about...1.2 megabytes a second down.
I had that same weird speed drop on both this and my phone no matter where I was at the same time you did. It was weird.
Oh heck yeah, you're on Mint too? Mint is great for now. I do wish there were more buy-in-bulk carriers like Mint, though.

and speaking of t-mobile money and banking, paying rent if you're using t-mobile money requires a bank transfer they will not take a debit card or credit card transfer. but then again, doing it the card way is a $7.41 charge. or as they call it a convenience fee.

3 years. My nokia the trash cash took a shit after year. Got and arcaydan unit and have not had any issues. I added the pc fan under it and have a tplink wifi router running everything and have a pc fan cooling that as well. With the tplink my speeds are 1000% more consistent. Occasionally game with it it's OK. Streaming 4 TVs no issues. Overall I can't bitch as before my option was dsl, which sucked. For the price overall I'm happy.
The biggest thing is no data cap. I also have 7 security cameras. I'm Not close to a towers. The only complaint I have is I swear when you blow it up and down load hundreds of gigs of data they go well we're gonna throttle you big time. Which can last from 3-4 hours. It's not a deal breaker for me. My main thing was cheap internet to stream my TVs run my cameras.
I Avg 180-220 down and 40-50 up. When they put the smack down on the throttle it a cool 30-40 down and 20 up. It's more than fine to stream and surf the net. But if had cable internet fiber. Your NOT going to be happy. I have xfinity at another house and we'll there no compassion. You have to weigh what you need and what you want it for. I use this service at a vacation home and knock on wood tmobile has been pretty solid. I'll be curious to see with the new model units that have the external antenna if they will perform better. Mine always say excellent to very good on single 3 or 4 bars regardless my speed are near the 200 download. Its not for everyone.

I just got T-Mobile only because Spectrum refused to give me a retention offer to stay since the intro pricing expired (49.99 to 79.99). I called back to cancel and Spectrum instantly caved. I am returuning T-Mobile only because I noticed it's not ideal for intensive gaming (Fortnight, Call of Duty, Apex, etc...) even directly wired to the box. I think for simple internet browsing and streaming it's good, especially for less tech savy people. It's a good price if you don't have other options, other ISPs were charging $80 for only 10mbps speeds (not a lot of options in my area) while Spectrum is providing 300mbps for $49.99.
But yeah I hate that calling to complain just to lower the price. Spectrum tried gas lighting me as if I couldn't read basic English (oh its a contract, oh there is data caps, etc...). Like if they want to lock me into a contract to lock in the price for longer I'm down for a contract.

Im in the New Orleans area, I was with Verizon home internet, but switched back to AT&T fiber for the higher speeds, 500 Mb down symmetrical for only $15 more than Verizon, and I could go to $5 more than Verizon for 300. Verizon was capped at 100 and was asymmetrical. I’d think even California boonies would be better than anywhere here in Hell, I mean Louisiana.

I will NEVER deal with Comcast again. A few years ago our business need temporary internet service for just under a year. I was very clear when I signed up that we only needed one year. When I went to cancel the service I was told that I had signed a two year contract and that I still needed to pay the monthly fees for the remaining year! I called back several times and even talked to a number of "managers" but they wouldn't budge. When I asked to see the contract I had signed they emailed a page that looked like someone had written my name at the bottom with a pencil!! Their response was, "Well, you didn't actually sign it. I was an electronic signature."
By the way, it often really does matter who you happen to get when you call a company. I called about two months before the second year was over just to make sure there would be no more surprises. I explained everything to the guy I was talking to and he said, "That's terrible! I am going to close your account today so don't worry about paying the last two months."

I am surprised drew dies carrier hop. I am sure he can get a better rate for some deal for a year or two and then go back to T-Mobile. That is what everyone does. Just call and cancel before his billing cycle ends and then bam. I work for spectrum and new customers get gig internet in some areas for 59.99 for two years or $500 down for $39.99. Depends on your area. Tmobile and Verizon internet is hot garbage, but for areas makes sense to use them to save money. I don’t know if this is true, but a guy from tmobile came in to work for a while and he said the internet was a scam and that after 8GB of use they will lower your speed and if there are 8 other customers on your street it lowers you speed in rotation. Not sure if that is true, but I believe it. Spectrum does it.

@@TailosiveTech most places big three will always be more expensive. The customers that leave for T-Mobile will only ever see those prices as a come back offer. Then your area also depends on ACP as well. Tmobile lies about the $20 a month because it is only if you get ACP, but these ISP providers are going to hurt if it does not get renewed this year.
