well its about the packages more paying stays at top. the branch rank isnt something created by students, it just exists unlike say usa where you can get any branch you want and toppers dont rush to cs coz there you also get good salary in all branches if you work hard. say astrophysicst who will earn 80-110k which is same as software developer in india he earns 5-6lac even in most reputed places vs the fucking average of 20-25 lac in cs

Yes, really this video strike me at correct time, I am now at a very confusing state that, I may leave a ICAR Institute and will join a CSIR Institute for my PhD or not. Because I had already spend 1 year in ICAR and happy to be there. from starting I was interested to do my research in agriculture and now I may not leave this Institute.

You are telling wrong. I am from IIT KGP. One of my seniors from mining safety engineering secured a placement offer 70 lpa domestic and it's average package is 17 lpa. Although I would suggest not to go for agricultural engineering and science streams, other than that if you get, grab it. Second, branch is completely irrespective of your current branch. Only criteria is your first year cgpa and that you have to be in top 10% of your department. My friend got Department change from chemical engineering to cse and another from chemistry to electrical. Third is forget branch change, if you are stuck with 5 year course in lower engineering branch, you can take up subjects of your desired department in 2nd year, earn above 7.5 cgpa in those courses and get a minor degree started in that department. For example, suppose you are in mining department, you couldn't get DepC, now you took all the courses of cse in 2nd year (since work load is light, it is easily manageable in lower branches) and get above 7.5 cgpa in those subjects. From 3rd year, you get enrolled in that department minor which runs upto your final year. Also, if you are 5 year student in engineering field and you have earned minor in cse upto fourth year, you can opt for MTech in AI and ML. So, technically, you did btech in mining and MTech in cse. And most of the tech companies allow every students with or without minor to sit for placements and if you have minor, every company allow you. So, if you talk about placements, any engineering branch in top IIT>>>>>any govt college cse. I first got Jadavpur university electrical. But I left it for IIT KGP Mining. Now I am on my way to either DepC or Minor in cse.

I recently got EE branch at DTU just a few days ago through JAC Counselling. Although I wanted ECE cuz it'd be easier for me to balance stuff in it. But i lost all hope due to the cutoff. Bhai mai nit Srinagar mai padhta hu cse branch mai abh mera first year complete hone wala hai.magar mai abh admission cancel Kara Raha hu aur private se mbbs karne kii soochii kiya ye decision sahi rehaga ya galat kyuki mujhe Darr hai kii aagey jakey placement na huwi toh kiya hoga .
